Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I see the Mirror and Miss Balch is at it again http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/real-life-stories/brave-alton-towers-victim-vicky-7002383" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; "As the 20-year-old was strapped into her plane seat, she froze, as it brought back terrible memories of the day s...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I will be quite dissapointed if they close Ripsaw and Hex. Travelling from Northern Ireland I will only get to visit the park once every year or two. I agree that if you are a frequent park visitor the likes of Hex would be boring but I'd like to see it open when I am lucky enough to be on park.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Never was on the smiler. Visited the towers for the first time late summer this year. Can't wait until next year to get corrected!

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I didn't realize that (according to wikipedia) there had been a similar incident years ago on the Alton Mouse ride, albeit an operator had the override keys and was able to restsart the ride . Is there any truth in this ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incidents_at_European_amusement_parks#Alton_Mous...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Will be next October before we get to go back. If it's going to open at all I sure hope it will be open by then.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

And once again they mention Miss Balch was a dancer in the article Quote: "Talented dancer Vicky Balch, aged 20, had to have her right leg removed below the knee when a carriage slammed into an empty car at 50mph." Quote Miss Balch on Twitter: Thank you for the tweets and support! Although...

Merlin profit from peoples enjoyment.

The media profit from peoples misery.

I know who I'd rather work for.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Ladies and gentleman, I am about to ask the stupidist question of all time. How can you tell which trains are which? Everyone's saying "train one was seen going round today" but from what I can tell, I can't see any numbers are the trains. So how? Top right hand corner on the square piece...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Best thing for AT to do now is get the smiler running again ASAP and let the media have their fun. The media don't give a damn about any of the victims and are the only ones profiting from the accident. Nobody set out that day to hurt anyone, it was human error and mistakes are made all the time may...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

The prohibition notice may have been already been lifted. I believe satisfying the HSE that they have made modifications and changed protocol to prevent it happening again would not have been a difficult task. Many lessons will have been learned from this terrible accident, not just by Merlin but by...

Re: New to the forum? Introduce yourself here!

Hi guys, Newbie here. My name is Iain and I'm from Northern Ireland. First of all a little bit of background. Up until this year I'd never been on a coaster or thrill ride of any description, the main reason being there's nothing in the way of a theme park here at home (apart from Tayto park which ha...
