Re: Wicksteed Park - Kettering

Well this is problematic, I grew up in Corby so of course i've been to Wicksteed Park, but now I learn it had Theme Park like attractions.

I feel like my parents might have been lying to me.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

https://www.altontowers.com/tickets-passes/alton-towers-gardens/ Thoughts on this? I’d love to go - I think the gardens are under appreciated. Perhaps opening this up might make the GP realise this part of the park. Opening the Swiss Cottage up would be great but doubt it will happen. reading the w...

Re: The World of David Walliams - *Delayed until 2021*

I think there is a PR angle to this as well. Open it for short socially distanced season in 2020,  and you can only do limited PR for the ride / land to start with. Meanwhile peoples opinion on the attraction is going to be tainted by the social distancing, that is a bad thing to have thing to have ...

Re: Wicker Man - General Discussion

I just had a thought. Wicker Man starts with a few dozen people crowded into a hut like area, to watch a video (as I’m sure you all know)

Who wants to take bets on the video not being used in 2020?

Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Let it be a benchmark for every other park to follow. Hopefully our parks at home are well in to their preparations too. I am not too concerned about a a parks ability to do this, but what concerns me is timing. I am more worried UK parks will follow Government lead and open too soon, the UK daily ...

Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=14&v=k0JsysX_AYY&feature=emb_logo nothing ground breaking here, 50% capacity, social distancing and extra queue lines. What is worth noting is this is in Shanghai (China) a place where its way passed its peak, this is what a Disney park may look li...

Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

So Disney is opening a shopping centre in Florida, I should play fair and go looks at the numbers, but that seems like a bad idea to me. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/florida/ The case/death rate could be worse, but it could still be too early, as for Poland and Germany, Germany is d...

Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Lets assume this 30% capacity can keep queue lengths from being extreme, can it be profitable? Also and this is a Disney problem more than a Merlin one, but would the cast member (Princess and the like) be wearing masks? and be keeping 2 meters away from guests? Dont get me wrong, I dont have this b...

Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

So 30% capacity? How is that feasible?

I love the idea of 30% if all the rides can be 100%, but they cant be.

Re: Paultons Park

Sounds like they are about ready to just write the year off totally, and put all their time and energy into 2021.  The idea of opening up such a large investment under any kind of social restriction, is hardly welcome. Make what money they can out of Peppa Pig Land, when that is viable, but hold Tor...

Now now be nice. I am sure Thorpe Park spend a lot of time and money making sure Stealth is closed, so guests are disappointed.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I got a closing date of October 20th right now, but weather still impacts attendance on those days. Those days are not the same as summer when it comes to the amount of people visiting. Where have you got 20th October from as a closing date? The Resort’s website still has Sunday 8th November down a...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Doesn’t October and November depend on a little factor called the British weather? Schools will also be back in session at that point.

Meanwhile what does social distancing  look like on a rollercoaster? 25% loads? 50% loads?

Will it be worth it?

Re: Alton Towers Resort Future - General Discussion

Alton Towers has one thing on Chessington and Paultons Park, its not got a Zoo, it does have Sharkbait Reef, but much smaller, and I suspect it doesn't need as much attention. Every single Zoo right now is spending money feeding animals and will have no income. There isn't a Nemesis creature that Alt...

Re: Alton Towers Resort Future - General Discussion

I think we can say much the same thing about all the parks, maybe even worldwide, but certainly UK parks. Paultons Park was meant to have opened Tornado Springs with Storm Chaser and other rides this year, that is a massive investment for them, just sitting. Its a hard time for everyone. Its not imp...

Re: Alton Towers Resort Future - General Discussion

I think that goes without saying, income is going to in the toilet this year, even if its open for a few months. On the plus side, David Williams Land will just be quite new to guests who will likely have delayed their visit till 2021. I could almost see a mini relaunch of the area, with some public...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I dont have the numbers to support it, but The World of David Walliams should send the message that Alton Towers has gotten past "The Smiler incident" and has been able to invest money in the park again. 2020 is shaping up to be a lost year for so many.
