Re: The Swarm

Yes as far as I'm aware they had a sign showing The Swarm was closed on the way to Swarm Island and didn't see a single person even looking/walking near it on the full day.

Like you said it was probably a gamble hoping the ride would hold out for just 2 more weeks

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

Eh. Dunno why but I like the station. Station is nice but could do with being bigger? The operations are extremely slow even on 2 trains which i think is primarily having to wait quite a while for people to get their bags and drop off their bags. (People pushing and shoving past each other as they'...

Re: The Swarm

If the noise you describe is a smashing/grinding noise, then that will most likely be the gearing, as gears are designed in a way that when under maximum to increasing tension the gear will sheer, resulting in the gears teeth seperating from the gear itself and causing a very loud uncomfortable noi...

Re: The Swarm

Hi, I don't post often but i was there in the queue line when it broke down. The train had just started on the lift hill and the back row had been going up the lift hill for 1/2 seconds (this left the train abound 1/3rd of the way up the hill, maybe a touch less). All of a sudden there was a loud gr...

Re: Rollercoaster Restaurant - 2016

Ate lunch there today. £42 for myself and the wife. 1 main course each and 2 soft drinks each. I'll be honest. The food was bang average and I won't return. The burger was of no better quality than that you'd get elsewhere from a fast food outlet in the park. Pretty much exactly the same issue I ha...

Re: Funny Things You've Overheard at Parks

A good few are in the Smiler queue now, people get put on the front row and on numerous occasions i hear them say "Please can we wait for the back/can we go on the back?" I also heard on Monday on a monorail ride to the park (during ERT) "Oh, we have to make full use of this hour, do ...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Does anybody know why on Nemesis, they have 1 full empty train going around, and 1 train used for riders when the park is empty? My guess is that when theres no queue (just enough to fill the gates), its easier to get passengers to wait an extra minute, so that they don't constantly have to walk aro...

Alton Towers 15 & 16 May - Review

So, I took the other half for a surprise visit to AT on the 15 & 16 May, with a night in the Enchanted Village. Enchanted Village: 9/10. Signed in at 9am (check in after 3pm) and was greeted very well, with great directions to the Tree Top Quest. Checked in fully around 5:30ish, got a little lod...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

Making the trip to Alton Towers on Monday 23rd May. Sorry for the monotonous question - but can I assume it will be pretty quiet? A Monday, in the middle of May, schools are all in (I believe) which really only leaves students finishing up for the year? Hi, I went Sunday and Monday this week (15/16...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

Rode twice on Sunday, Twice on Monday. 1st Ride Sunday: Queued up in the morning around 10:15 (just joined back of the queue when they were let in to ride) about a 20min queue. Was impressed until I flipped onto my back and the full VR went black. Gave it a few seconds and then took it off my face (...

Re: Rollercoaster Restaurant - 2016

Went there on Sunday evening with the other half. Out of 10, probably 6/10. You have 1 tablet between the 2 of you, and order by seat number. We both looked through the menu to see what we wanted, however I ordered my burger, and by the time she had pressed to order her main meal and drink, my burge...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

Seems a shame, would be great to keep Galactica open in the evenings (would save me queueing for it tomorrow when i go tomorrow!) but I guess the costs would far outweigh the benefits at that time - unless its used for PR

What were the wait times for normal riders queues? Galactica showing 45mins today, everything else to a minimum just as you would expect!

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

A quick question about the DigiPass. I've seen on Twitter its £30 for the day for unlimited digital downloads, where do you purchase this pass and exactly how does it work. Do you need to go to the photo booth after every ride to scan something and then download images the next day or something? I'...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

I believe the Forbidden Valley entrance is only open to guests to access The Rollercoaster Restaurant in the evenings, therefore you will have to use the Towers Street entrance to access the park. Depending on what time you access the park, there is the Woodland Walk which is located behind the Alt...

Re: SW8

Only issues with a proper wood is that they're loud, and I know Alton has a lot of restrictions, which I guess it'll mean its more of a family wood with an alton special 'worlds first' , as opposed to anything thrilling etc The existing planning information references the use of tunnels to control ...

Re: SW8

Also heard that people have converted the PDF which reveals wooden structures (so everything is pointing towards wood!) (Unsure if also been mentioned somewhere in this thread but there's many pages!) Only issues with a proper wood is that they're loud, and I know Alton has a lot of restrictions, wh...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - Quick Questions

People may not know this yet? But I'm arriving Sunday morning (9am) - booked in the enchanted village (cant check in till 3pm). I'm going to do the tree top course first thing, but then is it possible to walk through the enchanted village to FV, or will We have to walk to the park entrance/walk to t...
