Geauga Lake

Disclaimer: I'm writing this mainly because I'm very interested in the topic of abandoned theme parks, but also to give an insight to the rest of the community. Thank you. THE HISTORY Geauga Lake was an amusement park located in Aurora, Ohio. Established in 1887, the park was originally a local recr...

Re: Towers Loving Care

CoasterCrazyChris - above - makes many very valid points. I would agree that Alton Towers has not been as bad as it currently is since the "dark years" of 2003-2005 when the place was run into the ground. What we did see in 2005/6 was a change of management team that really did turn the p...

My bets are on the wooden drop tunnel enclosing an inversion. I mean, it's not exactly steep enough for poor old Merlin to showcase as a 'feature' yet, is it?

Re: SW8

What's annoying me is the fact the SW tagline has been used again. This is a family coaster, it'll be great but unless there is something amazing hidden this shouldn't be a secret weapon. Thirteen taught us it leads to disappointment. Th13teen wasn't necessarily a disappointment, I actually enjoy i...

Re: SW8

Ah ok. One last question lol, does anyone know why alton have scheduled this project for 2018 rather than 2017? Look at how quick Mystic Timbers has went up for example, surely there must be reasoning behind the delayed year?

Re: SW8

Sorry if this has already been asked but I'm really keen to know. Does anyone know when The Smiler's theme and name were released to the public? As this could hopefully offer some insight into when Alton will release the information for SW8. Thanks.

If I'm being honest, I dislike the Invadr cars but the ride looks decent.

Re: SW8

I'm sick of the worlds firsts myself, I want Merlin to get their heads down and build a solid coaster with the whole marketing point being that it's the best one you will ride. And with this, that isn't happening looking at the layout, but it looks like an awesome family coaster and if they market ...

Re: Rides & Attractions

That isn't a new picture unfortunately. I think they need to put in one or two rides that Merlin have never been able to. Large B&M floorless, or Intamin Hyper etc. Would really get them on the map straight away. Wasn't it released that they weren't going above 140ft? or was that just speculati...

Re: Rides & Attractions

I know concept art isn't necessarily the best indicator of what's to come, but in the new Kent Online article I saw a new piece of concept art showing a white rollercoaster coming out of a building. The track looked very similar to Vekoma's models. If anyone wants to see the article: http://www.kent...

Re: London Paramount - General Discussion

After a quiet 12 months it looks like we're finally getting some progress on the proposals. As reported by SouthParks News new plans emerging show that the waterpark element of the devellopment has been scrapped in favour of an indoor pool connecting hotels, and additional hotel car parking. The ho...

Re: Drayton Manor

I have been when I was younger but I have very little reason to return bar riding Apocalypse. The coasters are poor, there are awfully short opening times and I am too old for Thomas land so really there is nothing to make me want to return. To be honest the opening times are similar to Alton Tower...

Re: Planned But Never Built

About the cross-valley woodie...

why did Alton Towers ever plan this as surely by this point they would've been informed about the height/noise restrictions the theme park faces. Seems a bit silly to me to plan something in such detail when it is so obviously going to get rejected?
