Re: Area Speculation and Discussion

Much as I love most of what Mr Wardley has done over the years, he's left quite a phenomenal legacy, and he's a genius in his own way, if he has made a decision to formally retire, then I sort of feel that they should leave him out of this one, in the sense that they need to be able to demonstrate t...

Re: What do you think should replace CCL?

I'd always thought that the Towers and the Dark Forest should kinda be merged together into one area too. If the facades on the buildings were done right, they could be made to look like parts of the Towers, kinda like Thirteen is. I've always thought that Thirteen and Hex complement each other quit...

Re: Future of Towers Street

A change is coming, they won't continue to put up with the running costs of the Monorail forever. As someone who doesn't drive, and only comes to the park by public bus (the same one many of the staff get, that stops right near the entrance), I genuinely hadn't considered that the Monorail served a...

Re: The Future of Sonic Spinball

I always thought that most of what Merlin were doing around the time Spinball was introduced to the park felt very 'temporary'. Those rides weren't very well integrated. They'd put the 'secret weapon' series on hold (likely because Wardley was sort of in retirement at that time) and each new attract...

Re: SW9

I'm not going to judge Derren Brown's Ghost Train, simply because I haven't been on it yet (long story), but I like the idea of that sort of attraction for Towers. I hope that Towers do something better with the Duel building and phase out Gloomy Wood. With Duel, I just feel that there is FAR TOO MU...

Re: Which SW coaster do you think will be removed first

OK, so there are two different categories of reason why a major roller-coaster might be removed. 1) The location. Though there are parts of the land belonging to the resort that are currently used for storage and admin and not considered when it comes to positioning new attractions (with the few exc...

Re: How much longer will Hex last?

The only possible reason I could see that they would ever consider to get rid of it would be maintenance cost. It's not like when the effects stop working on other rides. Because the attraction itself IS the effect. And there are a lot of effects elements that all have to sync together to pull off t...

Re: The Future Of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory; The Rid

I would like to see it used as a new attraction in the Dark Forest area, as let's face it that area isn't exactly very dark at the moment lol. I'd have the facade of the building similar to how they've done the Thirteen showbuilding, so you go into a sort of crypt where the pre-show is, but then I'd...

Re: If you owned the Alton Towers Resort, what would you do

I tend to get a Merlin pass (which I more than get the use out of in those 12 months), but I feel that people who go in on a day ticket get charged quite a significant amount for entry these days, I'm not sure if I'd pay that tbh, especially for a busy day when you might not actually get to do every...

Re: The Future of Nemesis Sub-Terra

Though not necessarily a go-to experience for me, I quite like what they did with Sub-terra, and I think that attractions like that do have their place in the park for sure. If they were going to do anything to it, I'd maybe want them to bring the story a little more in line with the original Nemesi...

Re: Area Speculation and Discussion

I'm not sure what I think about how the area is likely to be themed, or even if it should be. The nearest existing ride of this sort is Megaphobia at Oakwood, and one of the reasons I feel that ride is so great is because the ride itself IS the main event; riding a woodie is so much fun, without nee...
