Alton Towers and Thorpe Park have closed their rapid rides as a precaution. The press will have a field day with that.

No disrespect intended to those affected by the accident, but I think it would be very wrong if DMP get into trouble for this if it's the case that the girl stood up. Excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong, but I always assumed it was safer for water rides not to have seatbelts in the event that they tipped over?

While it would be wrong to blindly speculate at this stage, the fact that the ride was initially closed in isolation, followed by the decision to close the entire park, doesn't sound good.
