Re: Loggers Leap - Officially Retired

There is a surprisingly large amount of information on that FAQ. They even put together a full press release, which is the first press release since 2016 to have been about something other than Fight Nights. Makes me start to think that there is rebuilding going on behind the scenes at the park and ...

Re: Loggers Leap - Officially Retired

Not surprising at all. Every year left abandoned pushed the restoration cost up further. I wonder what the real cause for it to be closed in the first place was? Strange that whilst everyone else is leading into the season talking about new and exciting things, Thorpe make a big song and dance about...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

So they seem to be removing a lot of things this season. Confirmed: Loggers Leap Colossus Water Theming All-but confirmed: I'm a Celebrity Reasonably probable: Sticky Sisters Old Town Burger King Old Town Random Food Outlet by Rocky Express Completely made up: The rest of Colossus :sus: As of yet, n...

Re: Logger's Leap

So, Merlin only typically auction things off when they're intending on putting something else in it's place very soon.

Just saying...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

I took another look at who Thorpe have partnered with. They've held one event, in November last year and it looked terrible to me. Beyond that, it seems they spend a lot of time trying to get people (or maybe just kids) to pay to enter their contests to win cash prizes. Then there's the occasional '...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

The background is straight from one of HYPD's event screens . The company appears to be very new, I believe not even a year old. The channel appears to be based around one person hiring people to stream playing games for £8 an hour , in the hope of turning over half a million within the first year. ...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Thorpe tweeted this

It seems to be a YouTube gaming group.

They play Fortnite and hold small prize tournaments.

Fortnite tournaments for 2019?

R.I.P.

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Received this email from Merlin marketing, about the new pay-monthly season pass. Maybe this is meant to be just targeting families, but Thorpe seems suspiciously absent from the image. It is only featured as one of the last small logos at the bottom of the email [not shown]. https://i.imgur.com/pcm...

Re: The Future of Spinball Whizzer (Cbeebies Land Expansion?)

Well, I think given some of the recent decisions at Alton, the probability of the Lego brand being forced on the park somewhere seems fairly high. When I think of Legoland, I think of the driving school. Placing it next to CBeebies Land would seem to me fairly sensible, certainly more than say addin...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

It would certainly be an excellent addition, if they made the park into an actual resort. I feel they could make a pretty decent small before-gate entertainment district, using the land containing the offices and designated for the hotel. The RCR alongside other things, such as a proper hotel, bars ...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

I would suspect just the unique selling point for Alton and money, limit the Roller Coaster Restaurant appearing elsewhere.

However, if I were to add one to Thorpe, I would put it in a potentially publicly accessible place, much nearer the front of the park.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

In my view, The Smiler soundtrack is the worst thing to have ever come out of a theme park speaker system. To me it's like dragging finger nails down a chalk board. Except that sound finally stops when you reach the bottom of the board. The Smiler's soundtrack just goes on and on, and on, and on... ...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Hmm, well maybe the website has been prepped for the 2019 build up, starting this week then? Edit: I suspect the new for 2019 part came from their season pass marketing. Here's one example of it: New for 2019, unlock access to over 30 thrilling rides and attractions for the 2019 season, PLUS entry ...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Might be a bit of a job getting the water to flow the opposite direction, but would enable them to have a decent into the Dungeon. Otherwise, yep an ascent might be possible.

Re: The Future of Sonic Spinball

I would just like to point out to Merlin management, that there is literally nowhere at Thorpe Park that Spinball could reside. Literally, nowhere... :sus: The brakes and device to lock the cars back into place at the end of the ride, seem so flimsy to me, I'm surprised it has lasted this long as it...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Roughly a month before the season starts and Thorpe have been very quiet about what people should be excited for in 2019. Whilst I'm not expecting much new, it's not Merlin's usual strategy to be quiet and not hype something . This being the same park that just a few months ago hyped Vulkan Peak of ...

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

A walkthrough is pretty much all I'm expecting for this. I would have thought adding any 'ride' component may have caused bottlenecks, as they don't have much space to play with. Nice scenes, music and sounds should make for a nice small relaxed attraction. Technically, wouldn't this be the third at...

Re: Is VR a threat to theme parks in the long-term?

Hello! It's an interesting discussion. My first thought is to consider other technologies that overtook things in similar ways. For example theatre was modernised by cinema, which in-turn found its way into homes enabling people to have that theatrical experience from the comfort of their liv...
