Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Hmm, well maybe the website has been prepped for the 2019 build up, starting this week then? Edit: I suspect the new for 2019 part came from their season pass marketing. Here's one example of it: New for 2019, unlock access to over 30 thrilling rides and attractions for the 2019 season, PLUS entry ...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Might be a bit of a job getting the water to flow the opposite direction, but would enable them to have a decent into the Dungeon. Otherwise, yep an ascent might be possible.

Re: The Future of Sonic Spinball

I would just like to point out to Merlin management, that there is literally nowhere at Thorpe Park that Spinball could reside. Literally, nowhere... :sus: The brakes and device to lock the cars back into place at the end of the ride, seem so flimsy to me, I'm surprised it has lasted this long as it...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Roughly a month before the season starts and Thorpe have been very quiet about what people should be excited for in 2019. Whilst I'm not expecting much new, it's not Merlin's usual strategy to be quiet and not hype something . This being the same park that just a few months ago hyped Vulkan Peak of ...

Re: Chessington - General Discussion

A walkthrough is pretty much all I'm expecting for this. I would have thought adding any 'ride' component may have caused bottlenecks, as they don't have much space to play with. Nice scenes, music and sounds should make for a nice small relaxed attraction. Technically, wouldn't this be the third at...

Re: Is VR a threat to theme parks in the long-term?

Hello! It's an interesting discussion. My first thought is to consider other technologies that overtook things in similar ways. For example theatre was modernised by cinema, which in-turn found its way into homes enabling people to have that theatrical experience from the comfort of their liv...

Re: Paultons Park

Paultons have been showing Merlin up in their build up to new additions for 2020. A new themed land, with what looks like a new roller coaster, updated log flume and some flats. http://i.imgur.com/xK53TO8.jpg Source Have to say, this could make Paultons the leading UK family park in my view. Which I...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Can fully understand Merlin asserting everything they can that theme parks are noisy and not ideal for residents to live by. Alton gets a huge issue from this, whilst Legoland and Chessington get issues from a traffic perspective upsetting local residents. The fact that Thorpe has established operat...

Re: Colossus

The latest Thorpe Park Winter Update covers Colossus. A key change this year is that the water under Colossus has been removed and the area will now be entirely hard standing. The engineer in the video reports that this will allow easier daily inspections of the support structure. Reading between th...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

For those that can't: We have had a great day at the theme park today, especially our meal at the Roller Coaster Restaurant. But I am disgusted that I have to pay £6 for the car park. I have spent over £200 on tickets to [come to] the theme park and £50 on food. Is that not enough [?] Fairly common ...

Edit: I've moved from an uploaded image to an externally hosted image and all seems fine now. The hosted image in the SB disappeared...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

It's a shame there were pictures of angry parents queued through Splash Landings at the weekend, due to the resort's apparent overbooking of the water park. Reportedly people with hotel and water park bookings were turned away from the water park, due to capacity having been reached. Not a great way...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - Quick Questions

Sorry, me again. I’m having trouble looking at the prices for a day ticket, as when I click on the link, it just takes me back to the generic tickets page. Could anyone tell me the prices or 2 adult day tickets and 2 child day tickets? Current online prices are £33pp in advance, for all persons age...

Re: Wicker Man - General Discussion

Hopefully Wicker Man has been the kick that Merlin needs, to realise quality shines brightest. A start-to-finish experience that stands apart from anything else Alton Towers and Merlin have produced. Brilliantly, the ride itself does not disappoint. The experience for me starts with the view: the Wi...

Decent operating hours!

Hopefully the slightly reduced late night hours during the summer will mean all attractions are ready for opening the following day, unlike a few times last year.

Re: Project 2020

For sure, time is running out for a roller coaster in 2020. The only indication something could be happening is the apparent removal of Sticky Sisters and Burger King from the Old Town area, plus IMAScore tweeting about that area a few months back. In terms of alternatives to a roller coaster, well ...

Re: Forbidden Valley Future

Seriously now, what did you all do to the poor thing during scare mazing? :lol Assuming it is for The Blade and not Heave-Ho, it would definitely suggest they intend for it to be around for a fair while longer. Makes me wonder if the purge of all the other flats has saved The Blade, as they really c...
