Re: Loggers Leap - Officially Retired

Was a great log flume and it certainly will be missed - but now's an opportunity for the next new coaster to go there and use the woodland to its advantage. As for reasons why it originally closed - any truth to the rumour of it not passing its fire safety inspection way back at the end of 2015 (tha...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

With Toadstool, I’m guessing they were planning to refurb it, but the price they were quoted was more than it would be just to buy something brand new (that would also last longer) when CCL inevitably gets rethemed, and the ride may also not fit in with whatever they’ve got planned for that area. Fo...

Re: Nemesis - General Discussion

Just want to find out if my co-workers are lying, has Nemesis ever failed to complete a circuit? My co-worker claimed the ride was unable to complete the loop and valleyed down. It's unlikely he would misremember, so it seems like a blatant lie, I can't recall ever seeing riders stranded on an AT B...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Forgot to post this yesterday, but Alton Towers Resort Jobs on Instagram had an interesting story and on it, when paused, was the following... https://i.imgur.com/XPZ9ZQ0.jpg It looks like effort will be put into Splash and rides. Hopefully, rides like The Smiler will be clean! I saw this too. Sure...

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

I think the portal theming, night lighting and station is superior to Air, just not so much the VR aspect. I'm not too sure what will become of the VR this season onwards if I'm honest, I mean Kraken probably dropped theirs after a couple of years for a reason.

Re: Th13teen - General Discussion

On TPW’s new video Shawn has a mood board from Thirteen’s development from 23:05-24:24 which I don’t think anyone’s seen before - turns out we could have actually had a wooden coaster 9 years ago! I imagine Wicker Man would have been very different if that were the case.  Also considered were an Int...

Re: Alton Towers - Visitors from abroad?

That's a Scarefest date! One of the best times of year to visit the park - park is open 10am-9pm and there'll be mazes, roaming actors and (possibly) scare zones to enjoy as well as the rides. You may want to consider some fast tracks though if you've only got one day as it's a Saturday - we all vis...

Re: Th13teen - General Discussion

Great video, I didn’t even know you had to walk the crypt as an Operator - thought that would have been more a Team Leader activity (but then Operator is higher than Host so it still makes sense there’s extra tasks they can carry out that Hosts can’t)  Looks like it was filmed in 2017 though, where ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I still have a lot of love for this ride, third favourite on park behind Wicker Man and Nemesis, in fact some of the best rides I’ve had on The Smiler were last season - the coaster itself felt considerably smoother to me compared to 2017 and despite the change in baggage I always saw it duel consis...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

4pm off peak is utter turd, however it also says on there that these times aren’t at all final and much like last year will be updated nearer to the date and extended when necessary, I’d expect half of April and May to turn out to be 6pm instead of 5 easily. I’m guessing the new model is set a minim...

Re: Forbidden Valley Future

I've been pretty disappointed this closed season with lack of TLC updates. I was worried after Wicker Man and the boost in attendance this would happen. It's still good they're cleaning track and maybe performing maintenance on The Blade. Hopefully this should clear things up, taken from the Facebo...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Ride Rater have more details on the content of the Dungeons, looks like some Staffordshire specific history will actually be involved - one of the scenes is to be based on the legend of the Burslem witch. It will also be 45 minutes long, around the same time as an average run of House of Monsters.  ...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Maybe, but most of April will surely turn out to be extended to 6pm for the rest of the park, I don’t think time slot attractions are quite as flexible, unless in that event they add extra slots but walk-up only.

It appears it's back online, the fonts have been updated as well - seems that the previous video was a draft version.

It looks like the use of the existing boat ride has been confirmed, as mentioned in the description for the new Towers Premium Pass. This has since been changed to “laugh and scream in 2019”, but we know they like teasing spoilers for people like us

Re: Wicker Man - General Discussion

Why? The only issue I found with the video is its extremely short length, is there an editing mistake in it we missed that they’ve had to go back and correct?

Re: Th13teen - General Discussion

It doesn’t compare in sheer thrills and intensity to Wicker Man, but it’s still a very good and often underappreciated family coaster in the woods and the back row offers some nice pops of airtime.

Re: The Next Themed Area/Area Refurb

Cloud Cuckoo Land I think we’re all in agreement with - it’s the one area of the park that lacks a standout/signature attraction (unless you count HoM which is seasonal). This will obviously change this year with the Dungeons going in nearby, but I don’t expect the area as a whole to remain the same...

Early Ride Time 2019 Predictions

With it being January, the line up for this years’ Early Ride Time is due to be announced in the coming weeks, with it running up until 4th October this year according to AT’s website.  My predictions? I’m thinking 2-3 of the Big 7, with Wicker Man’s reliability having improved compared to when it f...
