Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Forgot to ask this weekend, what’s actually the deal with the SR entrance being unmarked outside? It’s no secret that it’s back in use if you just ask AT on Twitter if the ride has it, or to those who find out when they get to the indoor section.

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Queue times haven’t quite matched this time last year, but I’m guessing that’s because operations are better?

Forecast 4c at 9am on Saturday, unsure if that will that be enough to run The Smiler for the ERT?

Re: Alton Towers Future 2020-24

I don’t think we’ll see another hotel for a while now that the Pods have been added  Sub Terra could possibly receive a replacement since there’s hardly anything SBNO now compared to a few years ago and it’s sort of the only thing in that category left  (except for Scarefest when it’s Project 42)   ...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Today was actually a great opening day, far better than any day I had at the park in 2018. There were more positives than negatives, but I'll summarise: POSITIVES: -The single rider queue on The Smiler is absolutely fantastic, it just needs to be signed properly. A complete walk on when the main qu...

Towers have seemingly confirmed this morning that staggered openings are no more. Not sure if this also means Skyride though

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Could stick a new merch shop in there selling Thirteen and Rita stuff, there’s much more room in there compared to Thirteen’s old shop

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Theme Park Worldwide have also filmed a separate behind the scenes video on their channel, going by what I’ve seen so far this is looking promising and pretty decent quality for something that only costs £5 online

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

All they need now is to fix the marmaliser effects and it should be like it was 2013/2014 (besides the amazing roar) Emm.. and the original audio, and signage around the area don't forget! Awaiting the season "Halfway Corrected" is brought back. I see no reason not to add that back or add...

I am hoping because Single Rider has been reintroduced, it means the baggage hold and batcher will be too. Fingers crossed..

So far, batcher has - the old Fastrack queue is back in use so they’re needed.

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

I actually like this entrance, it looks like the entrance to an old Saxon settlement

Now they just need to hide the evidence of Charlie before opening weekend, lol

I’m looking forward to it, it’s going to be one of the best family themed areas in the U.K.!

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

Now the VR has apparently been permanently removed, ask this guy and he’ll tell you he has a private but reliable source (I assume someone high up in the park)

Re: Galactica - General Discussion

According to Instagram user coastersonthecoast_, who were present at the RCR yesterday, they saw Galactica testing on two trains with what appeared to be a train completely VR free, and one with VR in the last three rows. I take it that this time it could just be pot luck whether you get VR or not a...

I swear they’re meant to be 7 seats across from the plans and not 6 like in this concept art? Saying that they’ve used Vekoma track on Nemesis for some of their artwork before.

Re: Towers Loving Care

TowersStreet's Facebook have just shared a photo of a returned Blade, it looks like they did a masterful job of making it look brand new - go take a look, you wouldn't think it was nearly 40 years old - in fact it looks like it would fit in Mutiny Bay more now.  If the TLC page were still regularly ...

The sooner they get a new coaster and social media manager the better - otherwise their negative public reception will surpass even Nickelback!  :lol

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

My guess is that the elevator will come first in that case if it's meant to be beneath the towers - sounds like it may be loosely based on a section of the Caldon Canal which is known for very narrow tunnels

Re: Flamingo Land

Kind of an interesting addition, when current record holder The Smiler’s only 2.5 hours away and the general public might believe Flamingo Land “copied” Thorpe... If it was meant for Hopi Hari years ago I doubt it has lap bars either EDIT: Turns out it does as it's a Rev.B model with an improved fir...
