Re: Chessington - The Past

Wow that's pretty interesting! I agree that Scorpion Express is well themed but yes, the illusion of how big the ride actually is, is ruined. I had no idea how that they used something like scaffolding for the (not) rock work, is the Lost Kingdoms theming constructed in a similar manner I wonder? If...

Re: Chessington - The Past

I only ever got to experience Terror Tomb, I'm a mid 90's baby so missed 5th Dimension, I also saw a video of the original Runaway Mine Train the other day, not sure if it's just because I'm looking at it through rose tinted glasses but I prefer the original theming in comparison to Scorpion Express

Re: Chessington - The Past

How strange I also was going for a trip down memory lane yesterday and was watching this very POV along with the fifth dimension POV they have! Super nostalgic seeing terror tomb in it's former glory!

Re: Alton Towers Hotel & Splash Landings

I booked a couple weeks ago for the last weekend of April but was looking at the first of May as they were the same price. It was £100 for ATH standard room for 2 adults and £110 for a Moon Voyager room in ATH. Splash was around £100 also and the camping pods were like £120? which was weird. There w...

Re: Chessington - The Future

I wonder if Jungle Rangers will include any show scenes or if it will just be plywood cut outs or maybe even some 3D models spaced around the track?  I think this is a really smart move from the park, they haven't brought any new ride systems, just moved a few and refurbished them. It's a good way o...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

Yeah I just looked onto google maps and noticed how large the site actually is! I really feel Thorpe has been getting the shortend of the investments over the last few years with all other merlin parks getting investments no matter how big or small they are such as Chessington with Tiger Rock, Room ...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - The Future

How big actually is this area? Is it really large enough for a coaster bare in mind it would need to fit a plaza area, gift shop, queue line and station? Doesn't big enough for the large scale investment we all want. Wouldn't be surprised if they did use this land if it was for flat rides or if the ...

Re: The Future of RITA..

I think Rita is honestly the weakest coaster at Alton Towers, but as said the GP love it! I would love to see an intimin blitz or a mack multi launch here like others but it depends on the investment I guess, it must be pretty costly to remove Rita and then pay to re-landscape the area for a new rid...

Re: Where abouts do you like to sit on rides?

Not fussed on most but Nemesis back row, far left is the best row for me. the intensity is great and you get a great leg chopper on the zero-g roll over the station

Mechanical Engineering in the theme park industry

Hey all, I'm currently a mechanical engineer and have been working as one for around 5 years. For the last few years I've been debating leaving my current job behind and applying for a job as a mechanical engineer at one of the merlin owned parks, I'm from the south but would have to relocate no mat...

Re: SW9

^ Icon is a Mack Multi-launch like mentioned above :) A lot of people seem to think it'd be a good fit for the park but it would kind of make Rita defunct so whether they'd build another launch coaster with Rita still there is the big question.

Re: SW9

I totally agree, for one I don't think Alton Towers will be looking to fund a new ride type as nothing like that currently exists (that I'm aware of). I would like to see the removal of Rita and an Intamin Blitz or Mack Multi-Launch installed in its place. However I don't think we'll see much air ti...

Re: New to the forum? Introduce yourself here!

Welcome to the forum!  I got my first MAP this year, I'm from the south to Chessington and Thorpe Park but have visited towers twice this year! (always do two day trips), Over this year I've saved about £150 from not having to buy tickets and discounts on hotels and food etc, well worth it if you li...

Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

I won't post any spoilers as I'm not sure how to hide them but I went to my first scarefest this weekend! The mazes were really fun and much better than I expected! (it was my first scare event in years). Our first maze was Altonville Mine tours, this was super fun! The scares were good, our group w...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

I'm sure they refurbed in recently, this year or last, seems strange to me that they would remove it. On the other hand black buccaneer at chessington has been down all season, not sure they are the same model but they're both HUSS I think, could they be sacrificing the blade for parts for black buc...

Re: Scarefest - General Discussion

I've read that ERT does not exist during scarefest but Hotel guests get Fastrack to use instead. I've booked a stay in the Enchanted Village - will I still get the complementary Fastrack? Worth noting I messaged Alton Towers and they said they were currently undecided on if they were doing this, th...

Re: Rameses Revenge

Went to get my last ride on Rameses Revenge on Saturday, the restraint apparently wouldn't come down enough on me (I'm 6ft3 with a 34-36" Waist), so I couldn't get my last ride, I did manage to ride it last year though so it's not too bad!
