Re: Theatre Shows 1997-1999

I believe the theatre was closed during that period, I remember enjoying the magic show and wondering why the theatre was closed so i'm nearly certain. I also remember some sort of trial of the Barney show possibly? Maybe 1999 or early 2000, before the theatre had been rethemed.

Re: Alton Towers Recruitment 2011

Hey guys :) I've got an assessment day tomorrow for the retail team leader position, I've been wondering though, I'm male and have quite long hair, usually tied back when i'm at work, will this affect my application? Thinking about it i've not really seen any male staff with long hair when i've been...

Re: Alton Towers: What ever happend to - ?

I believe the roof collapsed on the Nemesis Nosh bus, so they decided since they had the larger Nemesis Nosh outlet, to remove the bus altogether.

Re: SW6 / Thirteen - Ride & Construction discussion.

Personally i'd prefer the freedom of a lapbar. Its one of the things that makes Blue Fire so enjoyable to ride! So much less restrictive, and it makes for a more comfortable ride too.

Re: Low Capacity ?

Oblivion does run using only the front half of the station during quiet periods, if the staff feel that they can manage at half capacity, they will close the back half of the station and remove shuttles. I've seen in most often during winter weekends and weekdays outside of the school holidays, woul...

Re: Illegal Downloading and digital music. Your opinions.

I download illegal music and games, the opportunity is there so why shouldn't we. Heard of something called morals? Or decency? I have tons of opportunities to break into someones house and steal their CD collection. Why shouldn't I?[/quote] That would be depriving them of their CD collection, down...

The Flume reopened later on yesterday, I think Hex did too, but not until the last hour. Duel didn't open all day though.

Re: Home Videos 1994 & 1996 (Youtube)

So many memories brought back there! It may be me being biased here because that was the time I first started going to Alton Towers but it was a lot better then in terms of atmosphere! :D
I've got some old home videos of 1994 somewhere, i'll see if I can upload them if anyones interested?

The initial plans for the woodie were refused, Alton resubmitted modified plans, but withdrew them before a decision was made.

Re: 2009 Prices & Merlin Annual Pass Increase (1st Jan 2009)

Anyone lucky enough to work for BT, or know anyone that works for BT can get a merlin pass for £110.10, according to the BT news later today, but i'm not sure if that incorporates the price rise or not.

Re: 2009 Prices & Merlin Annual Pass Increase (1st Jan 2009)

You'll probably get a standard response with an apology and reasoning such as inflation and the merlin merger followed by the statement "We still believe the pass offers excellent value for money". I'd imagine there a quite a lot of people who have been put out by this...

Re: Black Hole Construction

I think the original ride which was built in 1984 was built before the tent, and the tent built around it, it was then deconstructed within the tent in 1988 and sent off to be reconfigured to carry coupled trains, it was then rebuilt inside the tent. Thats how I understand it anyway?

Re: 2010: Secret Weapon 6

This just gets better and better! I'm guessing the chances of the plans being accepted are pretty good? I'd imagine they've done their homework, the very fact that it needs planning permission is extremely promising. I agree that this probably isn't going to stay quiet for too long, the enthusiast c...

Re: Annual Pass Purchase discount issues.

I have also been refused discount in the Dragon bar on trips before, is the discount a recent thing at the hotels? I was given the impression that the discount applied to the park only? Maybe the staff were misinformed? Would be nice to be able to get discount... the drinks are expensive enough at i...

Re: Whats Going on With the blackhole tent

I supposed anything is better than nothing, what about the problems with the PA system and the noise abatement order though? Isn't that one of the main reason the ice show got cancelled? Might upset the Ropers if it's loud.

Re: Photos 1986 - including thunderlooper construction

I thought Thunder Looper opened in 1990? Seemed a little bit early for construction to begin! Thanks for the photos! Towers street looks a lot more colourful back then, rapids area looks so sparse compared to today! Nice find there :D Edit: Just noticed the date on the Thunder Looper photo, oops :oo...
