Re: Nemesis Music 2007

Alton got a rather large bill from PRS with the music in around 2006ish.(Some music was charged per SPEAKER! ie Haunted House) This, along with new management wanting to 'make their mark' ,they commissioned Pitstop to write new music for the whole park royalty free. As promised here are the Nemesis ...

Re: Original Nemesis Audio for sale

You'd be surprised. These days you send a wav file and maybe an MP3 and that's it. If the composer is organised they'll back it up, but it'll be under about a million discs or buried in some hard drive probably never to be seen again. Think about how much crap Alton have to deal with, the original f...

Re: Original Nemesis Audio for sale

I never thought the audio was delivered in cd format. The audio in the area was playing from CD in a nice impressive Bose rack system - saw it on a tour: Photos: http://www.tpark.co.uk/ViewPhoto.php?Photo=491 http://www.tpark.co.uk/ViewPhoto.php?Photo=490 Certainly a step up from the Haunted House'...

Re: Original Nemesis Audio for sale

I remember a similar thing happening to Boards of Canada a few years ago with someone trying to monopolise on rare tracks. Needless to say the auction was taken down rather quickly. I very much doubt this seller has permission from the Towers, let alone Graham Smart. Capitalising on his work is not ...

Re: The Great Composers of the Alton Towers Era

The people who were responsible for Thirteen's audio (also lighting and special effects) were a freelance company who have worked on other Merlin attractions as well. A guy called Adam Slevin who used to work at Thorpe years ago in Entertainments doing Fright Nights and later at Merlin Studios, sta...

Re: The Great Composers of the Alton Towers Era

He hasn't done any other ride music, as he was commissioned by Falcons Tree House in America for that ride only.

Re: The Great Composers of the Alton Towers Era

"] So, where is he now? :-k Other notable composers for Alton Towers include Ian Habgood (Air, Ug Land), David Buckley (Duel) and Crispin Merrel (Hex). Does anybody know any more? I would love to know who does the music now, since recent projects such as Thirteen caught me by surprise. The style of...

Re: The old Towers Street Music

The new music albeit Royalty Free, was written especially for the park. The music that appeared around 2007 was commissioned when new management came in, who thought it a good idea (and cheaper) to have a new music brand throughout the park. You can still hear the theme in places today but it didn't...

Re: The old Towers Street Music

Its quite common knowledge, but only really to Alton oldies. It was made up of Peter Rabbit Ice show music, Toyland Tours Theme, Hall of the mountain king, Haunted House escape, Over the Hills and Far away and an additional theme which appears in two variations (beginning and after the in the hall m...

Re: Global warming

ut they thought it was evidence for God back then. In 50 years time they will look back on scientists today and mock them for missing something or being wrong. Evidence which suggests something can quite easily mean something else. Well in that case lets stop all research and science because it's a...

Re: Park Music and Videos

This has reminded me of how great Thirteen's music actually is. Perhaps the days of bringing in composers to create a theme and record an orchestra or band are over. The last time that happened was 1999 with Hex by Crispin Merrel, I think. However, thank you so much Alton Towers for going back to c...

Re: Global warming

The Earth is heating and will do so until it starts cooling again, it's all cycles. Once the amount of radiation decreases, so will temperatures. No. Many factors most certainly contribute to global warming, and the cycles of the past have been attributed to naturtal factors we can see. However wit...

Re: Global warming

It's not the idea that I'm against, it's the sheer idiocy of it. The Earth has continuously warmed and cooled sice the beginning, technically we are still coming out of the last mini-ice age. The warming after the so-called Little Ice Age may reflect both an increase in solar activity and a redistr...

They outsource as well as doing some stuff internally. For example with Charlie they used some people who used to work for rex and KD Decoratives in addition.

Re: Petition To Get Towers To Do Some Kind Of CD With Park Audio

The topic comes up now and again with parks, I know Chessington recently were interested in releasing some of their music. The issue isn't PRS (well with the latest music anyway) it's more down to time, resources and who's gonna buy it. Digital Download is a good thing but we all know as soon as one...

Re: The John Wardley Interview - Submit Your Questions NOW!

The theme music played at theme parks has always inspired me and added to the day greatly, my question is, how does the park go about creating a new piece of music for a new ride? is it an internal affair or do they have competing artists? The park usually contacts a number of composers and usually...
