Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Hard to see what this could be which isn't a terrible idea. VR on Smiler is on so many levels unthinkable. A teaser for a VR on Smiler April fool? No. Still too soon for a silly PR stunt related to the Smiler. Will just cause the press and social media to remind everyone about the accident again. A ...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

An interesting article from Digital Spy regarding the operations of Galactica. Galactica Tested: Alton Towers' new VR coaster isn't out of this world The future is here, but is it really the future of theme parks? http://www.digitalspy.com/tech/feature/a789018/galactica-tested-alton-towers-new-vr-c...

I wonder if Alton Towers' lawyers would be interested in Wonderland's new logo and website.

Something about it looks a little familiar....

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I think their strategy will be to downplay the reopening as much as possible - the last thing they want is more press that refers back to last year's incident. And the best way to downplay it would be to just have it open from opening day - having conducted all their final testing in the closed seas...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I've just been scanning over the last few pages and I've read things about screaming /smiling to go faster. This is so stupid and would never work. And just because a theme park fan-site says something, doesn't mean it's true. It's most likely their own opinions and has no real truth  :D At th...

Re: Kodak Photo Points

no profit to be made, just a really nice consideration for guest experience and THAT I think is priceless. Not strictly true.  Clearly (from the name) this was a sponsorship tie-in from Kodak, and it dates back to the era of film in cameras, and rolls of film were sold at every shop and kiosk ...

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

Am I right in thinking that there may well be a new name for the X-Sector? What with tonight's updates, I don't think the Smiler and its' theming will fit in with the secret government/eternity type theme. Just a thought but I think a new name to do with the sanctuary is in like maybe. Also when 13...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

It, unlike SW7, has no target audience. Too scary for young kids and not thrilling enough for teens and adults. It flopped in my eyes. But SW7 is thrill orientated and can be marketed as such. Thirteen is a family coaster - something that kids and adults can go on together.  Intamin call it a ...

I've not ridden N:ST (I live in Australia) but I've followed this thread with close interest, and it's amazing to see the transformation. I've been part of this forum since the beginning of 2006, and, with the possible exception of the Dung Heap, I've never seen an attraction get such a kicking in t...

Re: 1989 Official Guide

I'll have a proper read of this when I'm awake enough to do it justice, but as one of TTF's railway enthusiast contingent, the first question that it raises is whether the former Railcar Steak Bar coach body (or mock coach body) is now outside the big brick-built place on your right as you leave Ch...

Can I just say - while it's been an up and down season so far, things are looking very good at the moment. Recently we've seen: ⋅ Alton Towers going back to substantially improve a new attraction (Sub Terra) ⋅ Alton Towers REDUCING ticket prices for some by scrapping online debit...

The ride is now open daily. To me, forget any talk of embarrassment, just a bit of praise and positivia that once again they've listened and proven to themselves and Merlin how important a full compliment is. :) This is right - and to everyone who wrote a letter/spoke to guest services etc etc.... ...

Re: 2012: Neglect, decay - demise?

As ever with these things, there's a lot of talk comparing 'the 90's' with 'now'. While that's fair to an extent, people have to remember that the park was in a very different phase of its development then to what it is now. The 'theme park' as we know it today was basically built throughout the 90'...

Re: London Dungeons possibly moving to county hall

The current location of the Dungeons isn't great - it's a little bit off the beaten track for tourists (although it is right by the station - it's not an attraction people walk past) and the pavements outside get very overcrowded from the queues.  However, the current site suits the nature of t...
