Re: The Smiler - Marketing [May Contain Spoilers]

Yeah I definitely think it's official. There's too much thought into it for it to be a project for an assignment. I mean, why would they create the Twitter accounts for a piece of work?! Also, Alton Towers facebook just posted this: We have been made aware of this video and have noticed quite a few ...

Re: The Smiler - Marketing [May Contain Spoilers]

Aha I love stuff like this though! It's just really clever marketing in my opinion because it gets people talking and soon enough the videos will be shared around. It's worked on us anyway! Andzdrew, I know it doesn't specifically advertise the Smiler itself but it all links in to it and creates a m...

Re: The Smiler - Marketing [May Contain Spoilers]

Long time no post from me.. must be about 6/7years ago I used to post regularly on here! Anyway, that video has made me want to post! I think it is a brilliant piece of marketing. It's not too in your face and I love the way they've used Twitter as a means of realism to advertise using two 'real' un...

I was just about to say about the new 'Unavailable Rides' box. :P

I quite like it but yea, the front page is too busy and flash heavy. Meh.

Meh, it's alright. I don't like the whole random objects in the air, like just placing that ATH suitcase randomley in the sky... looks weird.

Oh and why is the old Battle Galleons picture in the main resort image and not the "new" one?

Wow. Loving those images, thanks for that!

I like the direction being taken, but where are these going to be used mainly?

In my opinion it looks too crowded (on that Resort one anyway) with a Merlin stamp. I like the new logo but would prefer the 'Resort' to be less curved although it is growing on me. :D

Some great pics there Colossus. Especially like the Air at night one! :D

And rawandpeace, some nice photos there especially for a camera phone. Liking the rapids one, shame about the somewhat garish yellow boats! :P

I hope, and I know that RMT crash was somewhat of a bigger deal, that we don't see a real late opening e.g RMT earlier this year. Hopefully they'll use it as a time to re-furb in a way the main burnt roofed station and maybe the others.

Then why would they be starting work at Thorpe so early if this is not opening till 2009? Surely we should not be seeing any construction for at least a year. I am very confused about the facts at the moment. Some people say a Eurofighter is being built for next year, others say it is being built n...

But surley with the Merrie England Re-theme next year, they wouldn't have a Eurofighter aswell? And when would work have to start? I suppose these are quite compact and go up quite quickly... but I can't necessarily see this being for Alton.

Is the Eurofighter news Bushboy posted not relevant to this? :S

So, apparently there was this fire last night. :P

Shame that this happened though as it means that the Sky Ride just has another excuse for it to be closed. Glad that it was closed when it happened though.

Thanks Squiggles for that. Gave more of an idea of the damage caused.

I've heard recently that another Detonator tower is to be added. Yes it's that old Mid Term plan which was meant for sometime in 2003-2005, but somehow it's cropped up again. I would like to see another general tidy up of the park and a general reliability check, later opening i.e Late March or Ear...
