Pictures of Nightmare Niagara. Happier times. Too sad.

Re: The American Adventure: Past, Present and Future

Oh, could be the Test cart - I had always wondered why that one was different.

My hunch was that they once spelt out:

Re: Wanted - American Adventure Theme Park souvenirs and memorabilia - please

Hello everyone I am wanting to find any items for sale from the now sadly closed American Adventure theme park. Any souvenirs or memorabilia, signs, pictures, models, soft toys etc etc, even paper cups and bags. If anyone thinks they may have something which may be of interest please would you take...

Re: Lightwater Valley: 2013 developments

Lightwater Valley are wanting some help with a rather interesting little survey... http://www.valleymania.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1488 tl;dr: they're investigating licensing, particularly: Noddy, Postman Pat, Bob the Builder, Alice in Wonderland, Roary the Racing Car and Grimms Fairy Ta...

Re: The Future of The Flume

The problem with the Flume is that it was badly designed. Broome was fixated about getting the 'longest' record but in the process he actually made the ride really dull. This could have been rectified with a redesigned mid-section but the window of opportunity for this has probably closed now - the ...

Re: 1989 Official Guide

I'll have a proper read of this when I'm awake enough to do it justice, but as one of TTF's railway enthusiast contingent, the first question that it raises is whether the former Railcar Steak Bar coach body (or mock coach body) is now outside the big brick-built place on your right as you leave Ch...

Re: Camelot: General Discussion

I think as well SHOULD Camelot close, some park in Asia already has a down payment on Knightmare, so has first dibs on it... Where have you heard this? Got any evidence or any more information? :) Not true. The park does not own the ride, it's leased off one of the big companies (like Bembom, but *...

Tears for TTDB and ParkLife, the little remembered predecessors to TTF.

Re: Park Opening Hours 2012

Another example of the "Call my Bluff" style costcutting strategy that seems to be going forward. Doesn't bode well, even if this particular horror was called off.

Re: Alton Towers: What Ever Happened To?

The red boats had a far classier look than the horrible, garish yellow ones of today. Looks like there is a single survivor! http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/6653/atotherarea40.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us When's that photo from? I've not seen it in a long while now...

Re: Ticket Offers (Including "The Sun" Promotion) Discussion

Is the one-per-household rule not enforced then? Or have you done several "on other people's behalf"?

Got both my sets back today anyway. Quick reminder that tomorrow is the last day to send off (with a first class stamp!), although you'll probably only get some obscure dates  now...

Reminds me of the original TowersTimes logo and the infamous "Sorry, this Vending Machine has lost its magic" sign.

Re: The American Adventure: Past, Present and Future

I think you're right Spark. They were litter bins, with hollow tummys.

I'm pretty sure the last place I remember seeing them was in the themeing graveyard (behind SkyCoaster) around 2004.

I can't put my find on where those Bear statues actually were in the park. I don't recall them being with the Runaway Train.

Re: 2011 / 2012 Closed Season - Resort Updates and Improvements

Nah the Haunted House's place in the park is fairly assured. It's still not recovered from what was a pretty badly thought out refurb in 2003, but at least it's not as neglected as it was when I first visited (when literally a quarter to a third of the ride was just complete darkness).

Re: Submission & Enterprise: Now Open for 2012

Interesting. A good move as it's averted what would have been a massive dent in their image, but it shows the mad state of flux the management seem to be in. I actually firmly believe that they listened to us, or the gp. They saw the dent and they would fix it. But did they both have a major fault?...

Re: Dreamland Heritage Park Margate megathread

I think you're right about the insurance actually. The total investment from grants is still absolute buttons for starting a seaside amusement park, even with the land and rides thrown in for nothing (no idea how much they actually cost). Nick Laister has hinted that they've thought about a long ter...

Re: Dreamland Heritage Park Margate megathread

I'm incredibly doubtful that the water chute will get rebuilt to be honest. The costs involved are just likely to be out of reach - they have only £12m(?) funding to get from where they are now to getting the doors open, and half the Scenic needs rebuilding, the park needs to be landscaped, several ...

Re: Alton Towers: What Ever Happened To?

Talking about the rapids, Aren't they just the red boats with a yellow cover put over them with the seats removed? Thats what I always thought as there is always some red still visible. The rapids boats are in two parts - the plastic shell and the rubber float. The rubber floats are original, the s...
