Re: Cloud Cuckoo Land Replacement

If any-one is looking to draw inspiration for their "Lego at Alton" case, have a look at Gardaland. They are building a LEGOLAND waterpark, presumably as a second gate. This would work in Italy as there isn't a LEGOLAND already in place there - the closest being in Germany. But I don't thi...

Re: Cloud Cuckoo Land Replacement

Are there any clues on what this may be based on design style, fonts etc? Are there any existing IPs that would use this?

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Assuming that the Charlie boat ride will just be rethemed in some way, there would be plenty of space where the initial queue line, the elevators, batching area, the backstage area and old Charlie shop were for the scenes they want to add - which tend to be relatively small anyway...  I suspect they...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

As far as I know, the drop towers are very much still in the NST building - just very well hidden behind the Project 42 sets, but I could be wrong. Also, Warwick Castle's Dungeon does not have a drop tower, therefore it is entirely possible Alton's will not have one either. That's quite true, if it...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019?

Another prediction for you.... I don't think we have seen the last of the drop towers from Nemesis Sub-Terra either. They're not in the building with Project 42 and are far too new to scrap... Plus all of the Dungeons I'm aware of has a drop tower ride... And there's a space where the Great Glass El...

Re: SW8

Early guess at this....

A Mack or Intamin lite.. Like Helix, or Firechaser Express.

Neither of those require massive heights to be thrilling and can hug landscape perfectly..

Re: SW8

Weren't there signs around the park before The Smiler's construction started that stated that a "pirate from Switzerland was coming" and "bringing a secret weapon with him"? Could it mean that this project was paused in favour of The Smiler and is now back on track...? Then... Wh...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

On the most part, any reference to Marmilisation are gone.. Except for one sign as you come off that says "Marmilisation complete".. Likewise with references to Correction are minimised now.. The ride seems to be a bit wounded, if that's the right phrase to use..

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

I think I'm one of the only ones that is only "OK" with this... Every-one else seems to love it... The loading is fairly slow and tiresome, getting the VR headset right is a bit of a pain and I had blurry side images but clear at the front, so if I tried to look left or right it was blurry...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

Sadly, I think you're right.. This isn't a "Swarm Backwards" gimmick that we can put down in a few years time.. This is hear to stay. It also must be cheaper in the long run to just create a video synchronised with a ride that can be changed to update it, rather than spending the money on ...

Re: Galactica - 2016 Air Re-theme

This part of the review on the link posted earlier worries me a lot: "My final criticism concerns timings. Relatively speaking, the boarding process took a long time. A lot longer than the ride itself. As well as strapping each rider in and ensuring they wear and optimise their high-tech gear c...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Ahh, OK. I'm sure that on opening day it was only on 3 as the 4th and 5th weren't ready, which was what was leading to the 3 - 4 hour queues because it wasn't operational on full capacity..

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Oblivion ran for yeas without logos on the front of the trains and that was for no reason, so I'd not keep your hopes up on having Smiler logo's back any time soon :) Didn't The Smiler originally open with 3 trains available and then the fourth was added at a later date or am I imagining this? I'm g...

Re: Downtime 2015

Seems that Alton is taking a leaf out of Thorpe's book this year... On park today, the following out:

Charlie (until about 2)
Ripsaw
Nemesis SubTerra
(The obvious) Smiler

Add to that, Air on 2 craft / 1 station and Th13teen seemingly on 2 trains...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Here's Mine: "The treatment of Ms Burley of Nick Varney during the "interview" showed complete dis-regard for him as she was rude throughout and was mis-representing fact by placing words in to Mr Varneys mouth or twisting what he had said to create a headline sound-bite. This was a b...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

This Sky interview is just cringeworthy and proof of the whole Trial By Media.. You're right in what you say that this is very much journalism at it's worst to get headline quotes. It's like Sky (and occasionally BBC are guilty of this too) think they have a duty or right to present a hard-line stan...
