Re: What is Magic HQ

I'm sure that for a short time around the dark years it was renamed to 'Alton Towers Learning Center' or something. There's still 2005 stripped branding all over the place.

It's open 24 hours and it's heating bill must be incredible as it's always boiling in there...

Re: Park Life

Awesome, thanks Dave!

Fantastic show. I think I prefer it to Magic Factory, it seemed to give better insight into the different, casual ways the park played in people lives - from guests, to ride staff, to ents staff.

I forgot about the camp kid on a hetero date. Hilarity.

Park Life

Does anyone know of the existence of the Park Life documentary anywhere on the internets?

Re: Alton Towers Recruitment 2012 Season

Hi there.

I was wondering if anyone knows the general time it takes for Alton Towers to get back to you after a preliminary interview.

Re: The 'Duel in the Crown' Project

It's a nice idea but as said, I can't see how unloading a bunch of crap from charity shops and grocery stores is going to help a parks theme. I think every good theme park works on the basis of quality not quantity. Obviously both gets you Disney and Universal but, frankly, quantity alone gets you t...

Re: Black Hole 3

Something like Mumbo Jumbo would be great, beefed up a bit. All those unconventional elements would feel absolutely amazing in a dark ride environment. Add some proper effects or even a special element and you have a sneeky little SW that would pack more of a punch than what plans or even costs woul...

Re: Th13teen - Marketing/Promotional Discussion

Just watching this Q&A with Morweena. I like her and think she knows what she's doing. At the end of the day, yes Th13teens's marketing is a lie but she's playing dirty and being manipulative, which marketing so often is. There's no way Th13teen would be as successfully marketable as a 'family c...

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

After going on th13teen on sunday and 4 times today I have simply come to one conclusion. th13teen is absolutely, positively brilliant. When I went, I went on with the mind set that the ride was going to be a family coaster, so I was expecting boredline thrill, but not on par with nemesis and co se...

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

90 minutes?! Jeez, they must be running only 2 cars. I swear the queue was neary at full capacity when I first rode and it was no longer than 30 minutes. The thing just eats queues up.

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

Yeah. Why IS this ride so great? I mean, truth be told the coaster section isn't spectacular. The drop section is very short. And the helix is just.. bumpy. BUT IT'S AMAZING. I couldn't imagine it any other way (well.. I could imagine those damn trims being turned off). It's such a great ride and a ...

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

The only criticism I can give the ride really, are that those trims need to go. I love the out and back section. No, it's not very intense, but it's FUN. Gives awesome variety to the ride. But it could be better. Thus, the trims need to go. Those hills could be used better and the drop is actually f...

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

I don't think the gimmicky marketing was congruent with the ride but, eh.. not a big deal. That stuff didn't generate a huge audience. Promotional marketing is fine.. and fantastic. It markets the ride experience which IS very dark. Nowhere does it mention that this ride is overly thrilling or inten...

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

Imagineer John's description got me VERY excited. It's gonna be so a different ride experience for Alton. The coaster seems like a really liberating ride experience - the drop that high, the intense helixes and airtime hills all with lap bars and tiny chairs. And I stand corrected, this 'floor' effe...

Re: Hex - Part of the Dark Forest

I wish they'd sort out Fountain Square so it was was as much a defined area as the parks themed areas and thus could justify classing Hex as a 'sub-Dark Forest' attraction. It'll never happen but they could really do with taking out the tacky P2P's, repaving and adding some nice scenery/plants, seat...
