Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

...I hope no one copies the smiler just like verbolten did to  Th13teen... What did Verbolten do to Th13teen...? It copied or should I say used thirteens indoor drop I know it was made by the same manafatuer but alton should make a deal with the gerstular to make sure the secret element is uni...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I'm sure it would have to, it's bad enough that The Smiler isn't open without them closing three other rides to be able to test it. The ride needs 200 hours of testing before it can be opened I believe I read somewhere on here so it will have to test throughout the day.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'm going to take a guess and say that the inoculator won't spray you with water and those bins are to hide air compressors which will in turn fire a burst of air simular to the effect on the indoor section on Saw. I don't really see the point of the bins otherwise as they take away the effect of th...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I'm wondering if they've used forced perspective on the tower like at Disney to make it seem like it's much larger than it actually is from off the ground.

Re: ScareCON

Merm ... Didn't realise who you were ... already added both accounts ... I'm Colin Rees on there (and came as one of the shining twins :D) Most of the damage to the rooms was just visual, there wasn't really anywhere to put stuff safely but we put our bags in a corner which didn't get touched and ex...

Re: ScareCON

Likewise ... always good to meet another haunt fan and someone in real life who just kinda gets it  - I was explaining it to a customer at work the other day and they looked at me like I was crazy !! The Scareroom was absolutely insane .... we made it till dawn with 5 other rooms this time. The...

Re: ScareCON

We're going for the second year in a row, we stayed in a scareroom last year and were one of 3 rooms which made it through till dawn. It was an incredible and terrifying experience which really pushed the boundaries. The seminars were really great with a nice mix of attractions providing a wealth of...

Re: Experiment 10

Finally got to experience Experiment 10 last night with Scaretour and wow. It really pushes the boundaries and even though we had already had a behind the scenes tour of the maze, it took nothing from the experience. On our second trip through it was nice to see slight changes in script and the ways...

Re: Scarefest 2011: General Discussion

Is anyone off to do Alton Alone arranged through ScareTOUR? http://scaretour.weebly.com/alton-alone-2110.html Looks brilliant, a great opportunity for some unique TOTT time I am ... can't wait ... Terror Of The Towers is terrifying at the best of times let alone completely alone, all the actors are...

Re: Scarefest 2011

I agree that there's some great masks out there however, I tend to find that a lot of the masks can look a little unrealistic and you end up with a maze like Pasaje Del Terror looking quite cheap. The masks I've tried all give restricted visibility and I reckon would make working a scaremaze pretty ...

Re: The Alton Towers smell

Crafty tip: If you're missing Terror of The Towers (and the Spider crabs area of Sealife ) nip into Whittards and get a whiff of their Lap Sang Soo Chong tea ... it smells identical !

Re: London's Death Trap

I've been in. I actually really enjoyed it but it's a bit of a strange set up. The maze itself is really tiny but they hold you up in there with storyline and get you to interact with the actors by doing various things (for example at the start getting the group to split up in the first room, hold t...

I'm loving this as a start to a RCT project, some great attentions to detail and a great back story.

I look forward to seeing it develop further !

Re: Scarefest 2011

I'm split on the boiler house, part of me wants something new after we've seen it for the last three years but last year was the first year in my opinion where they got it right ... the theming was far more immersive than in previous years. I agree though theres only so many times that the Hamble tw...

Re: 2012 Attractions

Like Voke ... I'll believe it when I see it ... Major investment is simply marketing speak. Whatever Merlin install next year will be hyped to high heaven so forgive me if i'm not exactly holding my breath right now ...

I could be completely wrong but I'd rather not get my hopes up.

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Theres something which has been concerning me a little and I'm sorry if this has been brought up already (I've only skimmed quickly through the topic) but looking at the plans (and I could be reading them wrong) but is it me or the inline twist followed by the half loop after the lift hill going to ...
