Thanks for the thoughts, Dan (and others). I actually don't live there anymore as the resort we were building went bankrupt, so we left early. Ironically, I was supposed to move back this week to help the new owner finish the project. But, I'm not sure how that will work now. We'll see though. The n...

It could just be a vertical chain lift. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is highly unlikely they would put in two Intamin launch coasters. Then again, Cedar Point just put in three back to back Intamin launch coasters. :)

The picture isn't Storm Runner. That's the water slides that are also in one of the other images from the animated gif. You can see the ride is removed in one of the other photos. So, it's not going anywhere near Storm Runner.

The "random" text is actually a letter scramble.

I'm sure most of you have figured out "nantimi" is an anagram of "Intamin".

I would, sure. But I also know a lot about the situation, Intamin in general, what they make and where it is installed. What I'm trying to say is regardless if Intamin, B&M, Vekoma, etc... is printed in the paper, it doesn't affect the majority of park goers at all. Sure, right now, people MAY k...

You're also an enthusiast. I guarantee you could poll 80% of the people in a park at any given time about the manufacturer of a ride and they'd give you a blank stare.

halltd, with all due respect concerning your excellent points, you're coming across particularly Intamin-fanboyish :-|. As much as I like Intamin rides, I like B&M rides just as much. So, if you want to call me a fanboy, I'm a fanboy of all rides. But, that hasn't been my point. My point has be...

That's why other manufacturers like B&M over-engineer their restraints with double-locking systems and seatbelts Since Alton has an Intamin, I'll use Rita as an example. You do realize the seatbelt on Rita has TWO latches that have to fail, right? No B&M coaster has that. Also, the hydrauli...

I'm failing to grasp all of you guys' thought processes. It has been clearly demonstrated that none of the incident's were the manufacturer's faults. Yet, you still claim Intamin should redesign their rides. KI-netic - in your first sentence, you say the cable should have been replaced in 2005. Then...

You missed my point altogether. I'm not saying the deaths on Intamin's rides are acceptable because they were extreme rides. I'm saying BECAUSE they were extreme rides AND the ride ops didn't do their jobs, the people came out. Had the ride been tame and the ride op not done their job, the people wo...

Well, if you look at the rides that have deaths or serious injuries on them, they're all very extreme rides. I'm not including Atlantis Adventure because that wasn't an "accident" - it was pure stupidity. Intamin is known for pushing the boundaries on rides to make them scary and intense. ...

I could be mistaken, but none of those lap bars FAILED as you would indicate in your Intamin doom and gloom theory. They didn't release and eject the person. They all "failed" because the guest was too large to ride and the ride operator allowed the ride to dispatch against the operating s...

Then why is it always Intamin rides that are connected with these accidents and no other manufacterers? Let's see. 1. Fujin Raijin II is a Togo coaster. Not Intamin. (one dead, 19 injured) 2. Steel Dragon 2000 is a Morgan coaster. Not Intamin. (wheel assembly falls off, coaster derails, injures 2) ...

Just because Intamin is the manufacturer, doesn't mean they're to blame. It could very well be the park's fault. In all the accidents with Intamin, it's usually park maintenance or guest stupidity to blame. I'm not saying the kid did anything wrong here, because obviously she didn't. But, it's not t...

I used to hop into the Disney parks after work when I was an Imagineer. Or, if I had a lazy Sunday, I'd go do a couple attractions and then go home. :) I think it's all a matter of perspective. Europe has a lot of stellar coasters and unique parks. So, if we want to experience any of those, we also ...

I haven't made it to Cedar Point yet this year (going in August), but from reading the reviews, Maverick's OTSRs are pretty hard on your neck/shoulder/ears as well. Cedar Point has even put up signs that say earrings are prohibited on the ride. Clicky There's a video from one of the local networks t...

TTD never had problems with their lap bars working. Neither has Millennium Force. The ONLY problem I know about concerning the Intamin T-bar design was on Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England. That wasn't even a restraint problem. That was the ride op letting a person on that was over 30...
