Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

The question I have is are Gerstlauer going to make any announcement about this? Do Ford make an announcement on every crash involving their cars? To do so now would be admitting liability. While I'm 100% sure they will be fully cooperative with the safety review unless that investigation reveals t...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Doesn't rule out the fact it was sent out by human intervention though And this is the single most chilling aspect to the whole incident. There are systems in place to stop another car being dispatched following a stall. If someone has negated this system and manually dispatched a car then the whol...

Re: Duel: Retheme, Replace or Remove?

With the Dark Forest now capitalising on all things spooky do we really need Gloomy Wood too?
Howabout with the Black Hole gone Alton used the Duel building for a new top flight dark ride?
On ride yesterday Duel was looking a sorry state. Duel needs a Doctor.

Re: Ride Downtime 2014

Yeah, not sure of the exact issues it was having but there were some riders stuck on it for over an hour before they were evacuated from Oblivion. I was one of the riders evacuated from Oblivion yesterday. We seemed to go straight over the drop instead of being held. We also seemed to stop a lot qu...

Re: CBeebies Land 2014 - General Discussion

As the deal is with BBC WorldWide it is likely that the only shows featured in the new area will be those solely owned by or produced for the BBC. Stuff like Bob The Builder is owned by HIT not BBC - so is far more likely to turn up at Thomasland, another HIT property. We'll be looking at Justin's H...

Re: Should the thunder looper return?

I'm lucky enough to have ridden Thunderlooper but I really don't understand the misty-eyed love it has among fans. It was one loop. That was it. In the years since the ride has left UK enthusiasts have had access to an increasing amount of new and much more inventive coasters. We are blessed with so...

Re: New Park Entrance

I like towers street! The view as you enter the park is lovely! being greeted by the grass and the towers, and the froggies in the fountain! The music just makes it feel like your home with the staff taking photos and the park keepers wandering around. It just feels like the hub of the towers and r...

Re: Fairground rides. Yay or Nay?

I live in Hereford where we have a major fun fair take over the streets every May for 3 days. (Mostly Danter Bros I believe). Indeed crime does go up but it is unfair to pin that on the showmen. I would say it's more to do with the rogues attracted into town taking advantage of how busy it is. Pick ...

Re: The BIG Alton Towers vs. Disney debate

After years as a theme park fan I finally got to go to Disney Land Paris in October 2011. The anticipation was huge. For an enthusiast this, surely, would be Mecca. So the opinion? Give me Merlin any day. Seriously. Alton Towers just feels more magical. Disney is just false, false, false. Yeah it wa...

Re: Enterprise - is time up?

So in the event of a break down or if parts break it is near on impossible to find replacement parts. A vast amount of parts will be 'off the shelf' nuts and bolts available easily from a vast amount of suppliers. Any specialist pieces will be machinable parts. Someone, somewhere will be able to cr...

Re: rainy days at AT

The most intense ride experience I've ever had at AT was a few years back during a thunderstorm. Oblivion had closed so we headed to the RMT. Just as we got on it started chucking it down - a full on hail storm. It hurt so much as the RMT sped round the track. The on-ride photo is one of sheer terror!

Six Flags New Orleans

One of the casualties of Hurricane Katrina back in 2005 was the Six Flags Park in New Orleans. Bosses closed the gates as a precaution before the hurricane hit - they were never reopened.

5 years on here's some pictures:

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

I doubt that the number '12' will be in the final title of the ride if it's year specific simply because in just 9 months the ride will sound dated. If it IS in the final title then it won't be reference to the year but to something within the ride.

Rollercoaster by B*Witched

Ride A White Swan by T Rex...sadly a bit out of date now!

But usually Chris Moyles all the way until the Village of Alton when I dig out Hall Of The Mountain King.

On the way home - iPod on shuffle for the win.

Re: Alton Towers next thrill ride

I think the next Thrill Ride will see the Black Hole tent and a revamp of X Sector top of the agenda. It's a huge space, utterly wasted.

After that I think Forbidden Valley will come back under the eyes of the imagineers who are desperate for wood.

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

There are three things that worry me about the fact that this ride relies on effects to sell it. The throw a 6 to start mist on Oblivion. Hex with it's two season long missing eye. Howard the never-there duck Alton has a habit of neglecting its effects. Oh and then there's the other awesome Merlin r...

Re: Th13teen - Ride discussion [SPOILERS TOPIC]

Oh dear. This is Alton's biggest campaign in recent history and thanks to one 5 minute slot on GMTV all my enthusiasm is dampened. Those of you saying 'but you've only seen it on TV...wait until you experience it' I'm sorry but I don't get that judgement. When I first saw Air & Rita on Blue Pete...
