Re: The American Adventure: Past, Present and Future

Hmm, as much as I'd like to see this happen, I can't see it. Sorry to put a dampner on things, but those plans rely on the retention of a lot of buildings and infrastructure that have now been destroyed. Also, I have the feeling that it this was still in the running, it would not be in the public do...

Re: The American Adventure: Past, Present and Future

Colin Peake (are you still out there?) in particular is an absolute prodigy on all this.

Yeah, I'm still here, from time to time. Must admit I haven't had much time to concentrate on the park recently, but have been following this thread with interest. Sad to see the RMT has been s...

Very interesting finds Shaun! The first few pics are certainly from the early years, pre-1989 as the railway line isn't running past Silver City.... you've got to admin, the place looked good back then. The road wheeled trams were eefinately ex-Granda Studios, got a pic in a book somewhere. Almost l...

Something I stumbled upon when on RCDB (sorry if it has already been posted but I'm not going through 80 odd pages just to see.) Yes... I wrote it... and much imitated it has been  Thanks for posting those pics Saz, all interesting stuff, what a pity it never happened. Colin

Scarborough Water Chute

Scarborough's historic (1932) water chute in Northstead Manor Gardens, opposite Peasholme Park re-opened this weekend for the first time in a couple of years. It is also the first time in over 20 years that the chute is open as an attraction in it's own right rather than as part of Kinderland... The...

Right-ho! The land known as 'American Adventure' is now officially up for sale, and the signs state for 'business or leisure' purposes. Yay for them not getting around the terms and allowing residential developments :D. Hi Saz! Not sure if you caught the link I posted yesterday from the County Coun...

About time...! Am I right in assuming that the area edged out in green on the aerial photo belonged to The American Adventure? If so, that's such a dissapointment and a missed opputunity by American Adventure to develope and invest on that land! The area in green was leased to the park by Derbyshir...

Some info here . Believe me, the wheels of local government turn slowly! The Council will no doubt have had many discussions about the site, but they may not have been in a position to offer a lease whist Ventureworld held theirs. I can see it being years before anything happens - once the site is m...

I think a couple of signs on the A38 have gone, certainly the one at the roundabout north of Derby that pointed to AA to the left and AT to the right wasn't there last time I passed by. It is sad to see the park sat empty, but I would certainly welcome seeing some more pictures from the back of the ...

Well the park is officially in the hands of Derbyshire County Council. The entrance is blocked off and a huge sign stands in the road stating their quite heavy handed take over. Any pictures Saz? Are they just stopping road access or pedestrians too? IIRC it is a public path up there.... To be hone...

When both those rides (or at least what we believe are those rides) were advertised for sale they were both advertised as repainted or refurbished: Balloon Ride: http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=951 (pictured in AA paint job). High Sierra: http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?rec...

They look like they may well be the ex-AA rides. I seem to recall that the page selling the High Sierra said it had been converted to free-standing from the park model. The awning around the balloon ride looks familiar... On the subject of ex-AA rides, I think the John Paul Jones mini pirate ship ha...

Ok now is it me or does the footers look different to the ones AA had? Hmm... looking at the photos on rcdb of it's American Adventure installation they are the same supports (to be pedantic of course they are different footers  ). I think having the supports in a different colour has created ...

I'm not sure if anyone 'owns' the American Adventure name as such, it doesn't appear to be registered as a trademark. I would have thought that any new user of the site would probably now want to distance themselves from the old name... We went to TwinLakes on Friday to catch up with a couple of old...

The old go-kart track wasn't used as a storage space. You're thinking of what people on this forum call the "theming graveyard" which was on the top of the hill behind the old stadium seating area. Actually I have a recollection of some ride parts being stored there between the Karts movi...

Runaway Train only £9,000!!

Will probably cost whoever has bought it about five times that to dismantle it, transport and store it and rebuild it. Still a bargain though!
