Re: At what age can you not handle thrill rides anymore?

If anyone remembers this far back.... There was an elderly lady named Mary aged about 65-75 and obviously retired. In the 2003 season she attended Thorpe Park almost every single day on her own and rode Nemesis Inferno in the single rider queue all day. When I last spoke to her in 2004 she had ridde...

Ridetimes now says all rides are closed, ummmmm.

Seems they forgot to change the park closing time on ridetimes, so thus all the rides were marked as being closed at exactly 16:30pm. It since has been rectified.

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

She mentions "debate with idiot strangers (who I assume work there)" on Twitter. Guessing she caught some enthusiasts then? :lol Sounds like she already got shouted down for this by "idiot strangers", but I guess that means they surely must work there, and it's all some big consp...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I'd say apart from weekends it was a very quiet. Was there Tuesday 20th Oct was fairly quiet all rides walk on. 5 min queue for thirteen at various points throughout the day but that was all. And on the Wednesday it was a bit more busy. Weather wasn't great but there were definitely more people aro...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

According to ride rater today is one of the quietest days on record at Alton towers It was indeed a very quiet day, only Mr Blooms Allotment showed a 15m queue according to ridetimes, every other ride was shown as 0 minutes all day. The only potentially quieter days were the 5th of October and the ...

Re: Downtime 2015

There hasn't been any downtime prolonged enough that it was posted to ridetimes today. Alton Towers have replied to the post stating all the attractions are back open, and the queues are 0 minutes. I'm pretty sure this unfortunate lady likely had a run of bad luck, and as she mentions, it can be a l...

Re: Downtime 2015

Since it was added to ridetimes, Hex has had very good reliability until just this week.

The first downtime shown on the website was 2:30pm until 4pm on the 22nd of October. It went down at 4pm today (25th) and did not reopen.

Re: Islands of Adventure: Marvel Superhero Island refurbishm

At what point does a refurbishment just become a new ride. They are getting new trains, new track, new supports. It sounds a lot like a new ride rather than a refurbishment.

Re: 2015 Scarefest

What time does the monorail close on Scarefest? Thinking of jumping in the longest queue at 8:59pm on Sunday but wouldn't want to walk all the car park in the dark and cold :) Also, how busy is it expected to be on Sunday? I expect the coming Saturday to be the busiest day of Scarefest so far, but ...

Re: Thorpe Park Quick Questions

Hi all, How do fastracks bought in advance work please? I've only purchased in the park before and had the set times, but if you purchase in advance how do you know what times you have, does it tell you? We're going on Sunday but some people are travelling down in the morning so we aren't sure what...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Tbh I'm really confused how theme park profits can halve sine Thorpe, Legoland & Chessington seem quite busy and surely Gardaland & Heide Park won't really be affected by the bad publicity? Alton Towers will be operating at a loss, eating into any profit made at the other parks. Also in tod...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

The impact should not be overly surprising, if you have been paying attention to attendance at the park. It has been, and still is, shockingly low. Almost everyday of the week right now the major attractions are all walk on, including weekends and sunny days. A busy day right now, seems to consist o...

Speculation disclaimer! So based on the speculation so far in this thread, here is a summary of all the speculation and eye witness accounts, including the multiple points of failure likely to have occurred. With so many possible points of failure leading to the collision, you can understand why it...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

It seems pretty clear to me that human error is involved. From the information gathered in this thread, we have established that the occupied train was indeed held back in the block as intended, for what has been described as 10 to 15 minutes. The empty train stalled on the Batwing, and the occupied...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I looked back through the topic, and I'm actually the third person to draw comparisons between the SW7 spider and the Arcadia spider. And when I looked closely, there are a lot of small details which seem very similar. For example the pistons just inside the bend of the legs, the angle and shape of ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Hey There I'd like to add some pure speculation, on whether the large spider will have "special effects". I went to Boomtown Fair last weekend, where they had a stage called "Arcadia Spectacular". This stage is a giant spider, with mechanical moving arms, and dozens of special ef...

Re: Th13teen Preview Weekend: CANCELLED

I am of course frustrated that this event has been cancelled, however it saddens me to see the amount of negativity towards Alton Towers in this thread. I really hope they don't take this forum seriously, as they won't ever bother to try and arrange an event like this ever again. I have booked the t...

The Thorpe Park one was stolen off me by Thorpe Park, so now www.myspace.com/thorpepark is official The Alton Towers one, I handed over to a member of this community yesterday since I had lost interest, thus it being updated. So ...
