Re: Best THEMED theme park in britain?

Chessington's theming is good and has the potential to be outstanding again but sadly, as is common with Merlin parks, much of the theming has been ignored in favour of tacky kiosks and stalls doing things like face painting, fastrack sales etc. I really don't understand why they decided to plonk a ...

Re: The best water ride in The UK

I'm pretty baffled that you've not included Valhalla in the poll. Not only is this the best water ride at Blackpool, for me it's the best water ride in the UK, in every respect, and certainly the wettest  :D

Stormforce 10 is pretty good too, but Valhalla wins hands down for me!

Re: Europa-Park 2012: "Wodan" GCI Woodie + General Discussion

Any idea how busy Europa Park normally gets during the easter period? I'm tempted to book for next year, but am not sure about booking over easter  :?

What sort of queue times would I need to roughly need to expect? If I was to go, this would be my first time on Blue Fire and Wodan!

Re: Tidal Wave Vs Splash Mountain Vs Tutuki Splash

Exactly, it's not all about how wet you get. Tidal Wave doesn't even provide that good a ride experience, it's a pretty slow drop then when you hit the bottom it feels like someone's just chucked several buckets over you.

For me Tutuki Splash, far better overall ride experience  :)

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

I thought so. Things aren't looking good for the future of Oakwood, it was really quiet on my last visit and that was in the height of summer

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

The 3D cinema was roughly on Hydro's site, but did close a few years before Hydro's construction. You don't really see those 3D cinemas in domes anymore. I'm pretty sure Thorpe used to have one as well as, obviously, Alton Towers. I guess they've just become out-dated. As for Bounce, it did indeed r...

Re: Cariba Creek lockers are now FREE - As from 20 Sept 2012

This really is good news  :D I only went to the waterpark once while the charge was in place, and it really put me off re-visiting. It may only be a pound, but it's unfair to charge people for something that they HAVE TO use. In the theme park, fair enough to charge for lockers, people have the...

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

Thing is though, Megafobia actually sits really nicely where it is at Oakwood as do the rest of the rides, the only problem is that not enough has been done to keep the level of maintenance on these rides up to the standards required. And to add to this, nothing has been done to the rest of the park...

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

Oakwood does seem to be getting dagerously close to being the UK's next theme park tradgedy. No investment in new rides has taken place since 2006, the park seems quieter than ever and they are running a very basic service now- pretty much just the main rides with very few extras. It's nice to final...

Re: Thorpe Park - 17 March

Random searches on the gate? Again, I haven't been since last March, but this seemed excessive and also I find it questionable that someone carrying out searches had much of his arm skin covered in visible tattoos. So why shouldn't someone with tattoos do searches?  :? Glad you had a good time...

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

Since Oakwood opens this saturday and there's no mention of any new rides on the site, I'm pretty certain this is going to be another quiet year in terms of updates and installations. However, to look on the bright side, we did see some pretty decent paint jobs and improvements around the park last ...

Hydro upgrade?! I didn't know anything about that! Is the plan to change it so it can have no height restriction? Or is this to do with chest restrictions?

Re: The American Adventure: Past, Present and Future

Just to clear a few things up, were Ventureworld Ltd. running the park right up until its closure in early 2007? This is what i thought but people keep mentioning THG Group, who are they? Do they have some sort of link to Ventureworld? Also, does anyone know why John Broome's plans for "Adventu...

Re: Silly opening hours.

And Oakwood used to stay open until 10pm every night in August and have a nightly fireworks show in the same way as American parks. They did this for 13 years in a row unitl 2008. But due to its remote location, Oakwood are probably the only UK park that would be allowed to do this with relatively f...

Re: Your 'must-ride' wishlist

The only rides that have really massively appealed to me, and which could motivate me enough to travel half way across the world are Shiekra and El Toro, the latter being the one which i MUST ride at some point in my lifetime :D Has anyone ridden El Toro? How does it compare to..say.. Stampida and M...

Re: The Ultimate extension - confirmed!

Surely this will mean it'll have to close during part, or even all, of the 2010 season then :? I mean an extention on this scale would be a project comparable to building a new coaster altogether surely. They couldn't just do it over closed season. Since The Ultimate is their signature ride, the bol...

Re: Official Oakwood Thread!

Hydro has never had 2 boats, the ride system wouldn't allow for it. On a slightly different, but yet similar subject, Speed used to have 4 cars for use on the system (although i doubt the ride ever actually ran on more that 2), but if you look in the maintenance section now, it's clear that the ride...

Re: The best and worst queues, "in the world"

According to RCDB, it can reach 15,000 pph. 15000  Intamin rides rarely come close to their stated throughput. RCDB states 1300 for Colossus, but it is incapable of doing more than around 8-900pph, as it can't dispatch until the previous train is stopped in the brakes. In practice the trains...

According to RCDB, it can reach 15,000 pph. If it was just 5-600, that would be on one train surely?
