Re: Strange Rides

With regards to Armor Express I remember Southport Pleasure Island used to have a similar ride when I was young. Although know where near the speed in which that travels, it did have a curtain which used to come over the ride half way through. http://www.ukrides.info/col/pleasureland/caterpillarb.JP...

Re: Strange roaring sounds in the sky... serious WTF time?

That video is what the film Cloverfield should have been, sadly we had to deal with the awful one we have now. I can't say I know enough about things like this to comment fully, but I will say that if I heard a few of those noises coming from the sky, I would probably crap myself. Does anyone know w...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

YAY! I was hoping that the train would dip into the station through that inline & yes that looks fast enough to me. Not to mention your judgement of speed is completely different when observing as oppose to experiencing.  :)

Re: Submission & Enterprise: Closed (SBNO) for 2012

It could be also a bit of both, they may need access to the site and instead of closing the rides when the need arises they're doing it from the off which is bad and lazy really. Either way, they're no great loss to most of us and at least they're not closed indefinitely but I guess that's not the p...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

I'd say it's going to be enough, just. It's a one trick pony like Stealth & Oblivion and I think that drop will satisfy many as an experience along with the near misses. Then there's the room they had to play with, which wasn't much. I would have liked to have seen a longer circuit as well but I...

Funny how in 2006 Raptor at Cedar Point stalled & Mantis in 2010. :P

I don't quite see the purpose of the MCBR (If you can even call it that) unless The Swarm has 3 trains?

Re: Submission & Enterprise: Closed (SBNO) for 2012

I would also find it silly to announce the closure of the two attractions in January. But that doesn't mean for them to go and remove the two rides from the fastrack list where enthusiasts can find out about it and have us standing where we are right now! How many enthusiasts buy fastracks? :P Alto...

HAHA! I remember seeing this a while back and thinking "wtf!" What on earth possessed them to first get such a low capacity ride and then theme it like that?

Re: Submission & Enterprise: Closed (SBNO) for 2012

One new attraction - let's not forget there was already a live show in the Cloud Cuckoo Land Theatre! and the Beastie is still sat there. It is a new attraction :? This isn't a Sonic Spinball affair, this is a brand new attraction in place of a show. So if anything you could say there's 2 SBNO ride...

Re: 2012 Opening Times Announced

Clearly the park does not feel paying staff to stay an extra two hours is going to bring in enough money to cover it. The under laying problem is that Alton Towers have lost its magic, people are fed up with the up-selling, and don't buy anything, things have been badly advertised and the ticket pr...

Strange Rides

Well considering the topic for "Strange Coasters" has done so well, how about a strange rides one?

Simple format, just post your pictures/videos of strange rides from across the world.

Kicking off with this odd fairground ride  :?

Re: 2012 Opening Times Announced

Somebody did mention that Alton didn't hardly made any money last year due to people not spending on park. You'd have thought extending until 6-7pm would increase revenue from people eating dinner on park possibly. 5pm closing, people may opt for eating outside the park on the way home.

Re: Submission & Enterprise: Closed (SBNO) for 2012

I cant help but have a small snigger well quite a big one actually at 3 possible SBNO rides at awful flowers after all the flack BPB got over it due to budget cuts a few years back. axing 3 rides and putting up prices here there and everywhere is always going to leave a sour taste in the mouth for ...

Re: Submission & Enterprise: Closed (SBNO) for 2012

It is a shame that they have chosen to do this but I'm still struggling on the reason. I can't see it being cost-cutting because the rides only have 3 staff combined, not to mention the new attractions are rumored to require up to 15 staff combined. Seems like robbing Peter to pay Paul maybe. I thin...

Well Thomas Land came in at nearly £6million, if they can afford to spend that kind of money in one year then for the same money they can get a decent new coaster. It's over-due.

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

My point is they have to SERIOUSLY invest in something big. I would hazard a guess that the amount of people that actually pay the on the gate price is around 15% (Just a guess) many people pay around £20 bogof or the online price. If Drayton are going to charge £34 and occasionally do BOGOFS then t...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

I don't mind the slight increase on gate price, although this has been an on going trend of late and it's really not worth the full entrance price anymore, which is why we hold out for BOGOF's. I also don't mind the £2 car park charge, but it comes with a big 'but' BUT! if they don't use this money ...

Re: German "Walkable Roller-Coaster Sculpture"

It's to comply with Japanese safety regulations there has to be constant access and the only option is a constant catwalk, you will find them on all Japanese coasters. No you won't as it's not law :P It's just Togo rides themselves that have catwalks everywhere. King Dominion (USA) http://cache.rcd...
