Re: The Future of The Flume

i still think the best thing for the ride is to have a faster flowing section before the second drop. Instead of having 3 drops, it should have 2.  The first lift hill should stay but instead of it being a drop, it should just be there to serve as height for the faster flowing section... Widen ...

Re: Ride Downtime Thread 2012

Submission was open on thursday when i went, however the side that never runs looked in a really bad state, a few panels had been taken off and it looked like it had been left to rot.

Re: 04/10/12 On the park

From my experience, early october is usually really quiet, but it can be hit and miss.  Yesterday was really quiet, i've been on quieter days where its 20 minute queues, which isn't that bad, but does eventually add up over time. Sometimes you just get lucky though and get on everything with no...

04/10/12 On the park

My first trip to Alton towers was on a blustery october day in 2004 at the age of 16, i have always remembered that day as being fantastic as because it was my first visit...and in october, i managed to get on all of the rides without queueing. What a great first impression of a theme park, to be ab...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

Today when i was riding, the ride operator pressed the wrong button and left the lights up for the whole ride. It was great to get to see the effects working, it wasn't as scary with the lights up...and the friend i was with said she felt a bit disappointed as it was her first time on Sub Terra. The...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Today i was on the park speaking to a ride operator and i was talking about how i was coming back for scare fest and i was looking forward to the scare mazes and he said a few interesting things, most of them were covered in the press release about the sanctuary, but there was one line that really s...

Re: STOPtober

I have been a smoker on and off for about 9 years now (wow, i'd never calculated how long i'd been smoking before) There have been times that I've quit for a few weeks if I've been ill or for other reasons (usually if I'm seeing a girl who is a non smoker) More recently though, I figured that if I c...

Re: Random ideas

photo opportunities in queue lines. in the nemesis queue line have a cage made out of tentacles that you can have your photo taken inside of. i also like the CGI photo booth in the ice age cinema, they could have things like that on other rides, but make them optional so they don't slow the queue do...

Re: Black Hole's Replacement

I read somewhere a rumour or idea that a boomerang type ride could be making its way into the black hole tent. If this were the case, Id love for it to have a ''no way back'' feeling. On oblivion the pre ride video says things along the lines of ''some people go down the hole and never come back'' t...

Re: 10 years later...

This isn't much of a prediction, but what I would personally like to see. The recession will be a few years passed and things will be picking up financially over the world meaning profits will be going up and prices wont be as drastically risen year on year, car park price stopped, sponsorships with...

Re: Future of Gloomy Wood

My idea for the Gloomy Wood area is to have an outdoor haunted graveyard. Part roller coaster, part theatrics. You board the Cart, 4 rows of 2. The cart is a large oversized coffin which you sit in. As you are queueing up you hear that the graveyard actually has far too many new bodies in it and no ...

Re: Sonic Spinball- Future

Gloomy Wood would do better from a slow outdoor dark ride. The coaster going into and out of caves, or crypts with theming in each one. maybe dips and speed inbetween each speed area, but mini break runs in the themed areas. (break runs would also mean you can have more than one train on the track a...

Re: Queueline entertainment

I always loved Rita's queueline entertainment. The classic rock songs on the radio playing was fantastic, quite a few times i saw a few singalongs and me and my friends would always sing together and stuff. It made the cattlepen more bearable. Now though, they have added a second cattlepen to the ar...

Re: New Flats Ideas?

When it comes to flat rides, I've always wanted the theming to be the main priority. Growing up in Nottingham, i get to go to Goose Fair every year which always has some fantastic flat rides, but they are always standard with no theming. A place like Alton Towers really could turn any one of the bas...

Re: What promotional bans would you like to see in 2010?

I'd like to see days where the park is shut down for events, for example, some time in the less busy season have and 18+ day, it would bring in a more mature crowd, no families, no children...reasonably mature crowd, as long as you dont get annoying 18+ chavs. Other days could be like school trips o...

Re: Corkscrew loops?

When you enter Rita's queue line you have to walk through the tyre. It would be nice if it looked like corky had been pulled underground by 'the forces of the new ride' or whatever and you walk through the corkscrews as part of the queue. If they were gonna have them elsewhere in the park as a photo...

Re: School Trips in October = Unusual?

There are schemes in place all over the country for school kids from the ages of 14/15 to go to college on certain days of the week to do courses not offered in their schools. In these circumstances i can imagine colleges taking these kids out pretty early on in the first term as a way of them getti...

Re: What's The Best Flat Ride For Alton In The Future?

The problem with some types of flat ride is that they can be too 'fairgroundish'. I think that is a huge problem with flat rides. However, if they were themed or were inside, you would see very little of the rides. I have an idea for a few flat rides that would fit in well with X-sector or around S...

Re: The Future of The Flume

I believe the Flume still has some charm. The baths do ruin it slightly as logs going through a forest seems more logical. I'd like to see two things done to it. Firstly, it desperately needs a pirate theme so it fits in with Mutiny Bay. Secondly, they need something more in the woods. Every time I'...
