Re: Merlin Parks Quick Questions

Moving but at a slower rate, but it has a tendency to snarl up really easily, with accidents or similar, and then you can be stuck stationary for a long time. Also, as I'm sure you know, rush hour is always much worse on a Monday, compared with Tuesday onwards. If you're willing to try a slightly di...

Re: Merlin Parks Quick Questions

The M40 doesn't actually tend to get too bad before around 7:45am-ish, but the M25 is nasty around 6:30-45 onwards.

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Legoland would be interesting if they delayed ride opening - but honestly they wouldn't save much money. In the weekdays they run as little amount of staff as possible already... Though the park has been heard of delayed openings before. Legoland have delayed opening of Pirates Landing in the past ...

Re: The 'I Feel Down' Topic

If you want to send me a PM so we can talk, then I'd very much welcome that  :) Cheers Bear, I really appreciate that, and may possibly take you up on that. Thanks :) And Mike, your last post proved my point on feeling massively isolated perfectly, though I wouldn't have expected it from you. ...

Re: The 'I Feel Down' Topic

All the best, Bear - really hope you get to see who you want/need to quickly. Though have to say, even with a 6-8 week waiting list, you're doing much better than me - when I explained my situation, my GP just gave me the number of a telephone helpline. I went back and tried again when I was feeling...

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

From what I remember hearing about the coaster plans at the park, they have a deal with Intamin & B&M to build 3 coasters each. So that makes one each left to build. Sounds like rubbish to me, really wouldn't take that with even a pinch of salt. I can see it now, Worlds First Intamin Wood c...

Why is the whole of X-Sector closed?

...i felt an emotionless feeling "uh oh that seems like a stupid thing to do". and then "this guy isn't trying to suicide himself is he?" ...and thus, it would seem, this train of thought set off. What would make you think that? The more that is posted in various articles etc., ...

Re: Why is the whole of X-Sector closed?

I thought the whole 'exit hole' stuff was a bit suspect - why would the fire brigade ever have been needed to remove him from that end? Just unlock the gate and hoist him out. Having to 'rescue' him from the entrance hole makes much more sense. I'm not convinced that he entered the other end and wal...

Re: Why is the whole of X-Sector closed?

Nah - if it's not related to mental health at all, they wouldn't do that, as the man would just be an out-and-out idiot, rather than necessarily mentally unstable. He'd just get a hopefully very stern talking to, and hopefully a Towers/Merlin ban or similar.

Re: Gardaland: B&M "Raptor" 2011

It really surprises me that Merlin appear to be duplicating this concept elsewhere so, so quickly - surely it'd make sense to let Nemesis: Sub Terra bed-in a little first? Especially given all the problems surrounding it. With that in mind, I don't (on the one hand) think a Raptor: Sub Terra type co...

Re: Why is the whole of X-Sector closed?

I honestly don't think this was anything to do with suicide, I was there shortly after he got in to the tunnel, and Followed his friends out of the queue line, and they didn't seem that alarmed that he was there. it seemed like he tried to get a closer picture or something and the realised the amou...

Re: Why is the whole of X-Sector closed?

Actually shocked that anyone even thought to criticse the staff in this incidence either! Why on EARTH would all security staff have a key to the Oblivion exit tunnel, on the off-chance that someone decided to jump the fence, WADE through the pond, and then jump another fence into the hole?! Should...

Re: Why is the whole of X-Sector closed?

Can't say I'm particularly surprised, given how good TTF is at ignoring fellow members who are suffering from depression, even if they themselves have experienced it. Massive shame. That aside, has it been confirmed that it was definitely attempted suicide? There seems to be a fair amount of variati...

Re: Why is the whole of X-Sector closed?

Really? They don't exactly seem to be needed. Would be a waste of money IMO.

Anyway, this seems like a bizarre, but one-off incident. Really don't see that Towers have done anything wrong (except perhaps a slightly slow response), and can't see that any changes are needed.

Well, perhaps not. As Wardley pointed out so elegantly on Saturday, bigger/taller/faster isn't always better. Give them a challenging set of restrictions, and a masterpiece might just be born :)

Re: New Cable-Car for London: "Emirates Air Line"

Well, for all intents and purposes they are the same - same model, just slightly smaller.

Doesn't look beautiful at all to me, and I don't know why. Kinda just looks like they've been draped over the pylons, like a kinda cheap Christmas decoration. No idea why I think that, though... :?

Re: Derren Brown - Svengali

I have to disagree, I was very disappointed with Svengali. Enigma was utterly, utterly stunning, and superb, and incredible, and any other positive adjective you can think of. I therefore went to Svengali with high hopes, and they were dashed - maybe he was having an off day, and I'll happily believ...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

For comparison, Legoland are closed for 20 Tuesdays/Wednesdays this year, which is actually up a fair bit from last year's 12*. They're never closed Monday/Thursday/Friday/weekend, school holidays, or around public holidays (for example next week), and I can fully believe that Tuesdays/Wednesdays ar...
