Re: BG Williamsburg 2012: "Verbolten" multi-launch Zierer

It kinda does, but at the same time I'm not convinced that you can get an accurate view from an off-ride video.

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

Legoland are closed for many Tuesdays and Wednesdays during term time - don't really see why Chessington couldn't follow suit.

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

An interesting thought I've been having recently about Thirteen, and I wonder if it may be applicable to Sub Terra: The marketing manager behind Thirteen's publicity very clearly didn't have a 'head for thrills', for want of a better term. She was very clear about this at the Thirteen evening, and t...

Re: Thorpe Park History

Do I remember years ago at Thorpe they had bikes that you could try and ride down a line to win a prize - the challenge being they were fixed so it went left if you steered right and vice versa - or was that somswhere else? Well, don't know about years ago, but they certainly had those for most of ...

Re: Holiday Park - Phantasialand Weekend

Eh, Phantasialand for me. It doesn't help that a) it currently has a massive hole in the middle, and b) all music and 'atmospheric-type-stuff' was switched off for Good Friday.* I visited last August, and thought it had an epic atmosphere. (* - think I'm right in thinking that you did visit the same...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I think Oblivion could far more be described as a gimmicky coaster by those standards - it has a world-first element (the drop)... and then near-as-damn nothing else. Thirteen has a world-first element which is part of a larger coaster (though of course the mediocrity of said coaster could be argued).

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

...but ask yourself, when you're at a park, do you REALLY care about throughput, or if the staff are loading the cars correctly, or if they aren't building a new coaster in two years time or any of this......or do you care that you're having a fun time... I think the sad thing is that throughput/lo...

Thing is, they very much don't need a petition for that - they can (and do, very, very regularly!) simply look here, on TTF ;)

Re: Negativity

I spend a lot of my time thinking of topics to start, which is getting increasingly difficult to do now... There is no excuse at all for people being snappy or rude, but I question whether this is really a good way to be interacting with the forum. Surely it's normal to contribute to existing threa...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

I've always found Chessington staff to be the most robotic of the Merlin parks. Sure, they're very friendly when they ask how your day has been going, but every single staff member seems to ask it, with near-identical wording, and when you've been asked it for the 20th time it gets a little grating....

Re: Air Tunnel

As has been said many a time, the reason for not painting is that the walls just couldn't take it - they're far too damp. I suspect that also be an issue for Ian's print idea, but it's definitely an interesting idea. Lighting would be good - it's easy enough to weatherproof - but then Ryan's point c...

Re: Thorpe Park 2013: Possible Ride Discussion

If you want... Thrills: go to Thorpe Park Family Park: go to Chessington Young Children Activities: go to Lego Land ...and if you're a family, with say a young child and a couple of teens? The problem with segmented parks is that each can only cater for a narrow range of guests. If you're in a fami...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

I don't know that they're necessarily looking to get rid of it - after all, two-train operation is a damn-sight more expensive and maintenance-heavy than zero-train operation. Think it's more that they're happy to keep it running in as simple and cheap a way as possible.

Re: New Cable-Car for London: "Emirates Air Line"

They're getting 34 gondolas - dunno how long the cable is, but I'd guess there isn't the capacity for faster dispatches, even with all gondolas on the cable, and that doesn't account for any in maintenance etc. The crossing is supposed to take around five minutes, which seems a nice length - not to ...

Re: New Cable-Car for London: "Emirates Air Line"

I'm guessing a similar fare to an Oyster tube journey for non-oyster passengers, and cheaper still for Oyster... Don't forget, it links ExCeL and the O2 directly, which will be invaluable for the Games, and hopefully fairly useful thereafter what with the regeneration going on in both regions. Hence...
