Re: Off Peak Closure of SkyRide and Other Cuts

It is fair to say I know minimal about large corporations and the way they conduct business on a large scale but the company I work for expanded too quickly and had to retract and cut losses just as quick as they expanded otherwise it would have gone under. I fear that Merlin are expanding way to q...

Re: Etnaland 2013: "The Storm" Mack Coaster + S&S Mine Train!

They might not be the world renown masters of airtime but I'm sure they'd rise to the challenge if required. Was the pun intended, Nightfall? :P No actually it wasn't but reading it back made me chuckle. Edit: They sure do Dan. I did some research on this ride while righting my trip report for Phan...

Re: Off Peak Closure of SkyRide and Other Cuts

When the skyride is closed they are just advertising it on the queue times boards with the generic "A million apologies, the skyride is currently unavailable" . And at the skyride station they just have the skyride is closed signs and nothing else. A million apologies isn't really very ap...

Re: TT Map

At the moment it's probably a little early for us to start shouting about SW7 on the map on the homepage while Ice Age and Sub-Terra are still so new, and the focus of the season. When the larger SW7 updates begin to roll in and the attention around Ice Age and Sub-Terra has died down the map will n...

Bote's Bits and Bobs

Hey guys, so as most of you have no doubt noticed I've not been all that active with RCT or NoLimits recently. However, now that a majority of work is out of the way (Yay!) I'm back :D After the disaster with Rivervale Park becoming unstable I've decided to take a different approach to how I do thin...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

It does seem very odd though. I've heard various reports from people that Pirate Adventure is looking the best it has in ages at the moment, with almost all it's effects being fixed. It's been said before that the ride was so expensive to maintain due to the complicated and outdated effects, which o...

Re: Off Peak Closure of SkyRide and Other Cuts

Well hopefully when Merlin floats the company will be broken down and sold. E.G. Parks go one way, midways another. I can't see there being many people who want to take up a whole company as one. It'd make more sense to package brands and groups up. Plus, if you look at it that way it means there's ...

Yay for coaster :D
Yay for flat :D
Boo for Pirate Adventure :(

I guess all we can hope is an amazing replacment for it goes on Excalibur's site. I must go and say goodbye to Pirate Adventure though. I'm really going to miss it :(

Re: Off Peak Closure of SkyRide and Other Cuts

Well done to Merlin, it has too be said. Ever heard the expression "opening a can of worms for yourself"? It's a disgrace that any park should close attractions at short notice without compansations to the paying guests. It's downright disgusting and embarrassing when it's the UKs premier ...

Re: Oblivion model!?

It does indeed exist and is on sale in Towers Trading, and probably some other shops around the park. Don't expect anything incredible though. It's literally a sheet of A4 card with some perforations and is just a basic drop track. Nothing fancy.

They're also available from altontowers.com :)

Re: New Cable-Car for London: "Emirates Air Line"

Being in London I'd imagine a fair old wedge would have gone on purchasing land to build on, and alike. Obviously there is also the architect aspect too. Those supports and stations won't have been cheap :P

Love how much it seems to swing while slowing down to enter the station! Could prove rather thrilling :P

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm and General Discussion

I think I must be part of the minority with my opinion on Thorpe's rides for me it's:

1st - Swarm
2nd - Colossus
3rd - X:\
4th - Ninferno
5th - Feesh
Joint 6th - Stealth and Saw

Re: 2012: Neglect, decay - demise?

I think it is pathetic that the park are praised for very basic maintenance tasks like jet washing concrete, fixing broken areas of paving and repairing vending machines. Honestly, are we supposed to be grateful they do these things?! Well... Yes really :P I'm sure we'd all rather them sort these t...

Re: Could Rita be Launched... BACKWARDS???

The difference is layout. That would be the main obstical to overcome. Rita is designed to have quick and snappy changes in direction. Going forwards gives riders the chance to see what is up ahead and brace themselves. Even then quite a few people still compain of discomfort as the transitions occu...

Re: Etnaland 2013: "The Storm" Mack Coaster

This ride looks win! As for the park it seems a bit strange :P It seems to have an abundance of water rides, and is now building two coasters for next year. This, and something else from S&S. I'm guessing it's one of those parks which is transforming from just a waterpark to a theme and waterpar...

Re: All time favourite flat ride

Quantum is a ride I can honestly say made me fear for my life! It felt like someone in the tech department at Thorpe had gone around it and removed every safety limit and control system there is and just left the ride to run at full pelt :P
