Re: Nemesis red powder added to give the blood effect to waterfalls

If I remember correctly the colour was changed slightly a few years back from blood red to the slightly pinky colour we usually see today. I'm sure I heard somewhere that they had changed it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they use cornflower or something to strengthen the colour too?

Re: monorail

I think the main idea behind the old track was that it should fit the rest of the park audio. It was created at a time where the park was trying to create a continual theme and tune between all their tracks. Essentially, every new track had to contain at least an exert from Towers Street. Cloud Cuck...

Re: Oblivion Audio (Seat speakers maybe?)

Originally there were speakers at the top of the drop, which used to play the infamous "Don't look down" message. However, these were removed a few years back after the courts concluded in the Roper case that the use of the audio caused people to scream, which was one of the main sources o...

Re: captain's Guide To Realistic Rapids

Yeah, I've tried rebuilding the whole course. I agree that it's damn strange :P It's like the boats roll up the first start of the lift fine, then suddenly start to loose momentum, like a coaster which hasn't quite got enough speed to make a hill. But rather than valleying they stay where they are a...

Re: captain's Guide To Realistic Rapids

So move the station to the opposite side of the turntable? I've just tried that and I'm still having the issue :( The boats manage to get about a third of the way up the lift, spin a bit, then stop and begin to crawl again like they used to. Just wondering, which track type should I be using for the...

Just wondering if captain or anyone else has managed to solve the crawling lift issue yet :)

Re: monorail

They could be referring to either a) The mural as suggested above. There used to be a painting within one of the stations. b) The monorail station audio which used to play with the resort overview film. That has left us this year and been replaced with an advert loop and an ITHOTMK remix. The trains...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I suppose *technically* Oblivion could be argued as a worlds first ride. It was the first ride to use a B&M Dive Machine Shuttle, the first coaster to have a vertical drop, and (correct me if I'm wrong) the first B&M with wider track (I'm sure I read somewhere DMs have larger track than othe...

Re: Air Tunnel

While we have sent a petition to Merlin before that was over something we felt was a major issue, and something I personally don't think Merlin were fully aware of. The tunnel on the other hand is something both Towers and Merlin are fully aware of. However, as in any business they must prioritise i...

Re: Air Tunnel

Well it'd depend what you printed on really. If it was done on something like vinyl then yes damp could be an issue. But acrylic or similar would be much less susceptible. Yes, it would still need some attention every once in a while, but it'd be much less frequent. Plus, it could still simply be je...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

So a vertical elevator essentially? Sorry, but that's already been done of countless rides around the world already :P Matterhorn Blitz at Europa Park and Winjas Fear & Force at Phantasialand to name a couple. If you are suggesting actually launching the vehicles upwards then I can't really see ...

Re: Air Tunnel

One thought I had is that when painting the walls they are going to look just as messy and streaked again in a few months unless they regularly clean and paint them. What if Towers had a giant print done of blue sky and a few fluffy white clouds and fixed them to the tunnel walls (Similar to the big...

Re: New Cable-Car for London: "Emirates Air Line"

The London Eye is nothing more than a tourist attraction. It was never meant to be a "viable inner city transport device"! :P Well yeah, that's because it goes to and from the same place... A giant wheel would be one of the most impractical transport systems ever created. It's like a tube...

Re: BG Williamsburg 2012: "Verbolten" multi-launch Zierer

For some reason I have a feeling parks are not using the Intaimin version because of the horrible downtime it had last year and the one before. Well both Air and Oblivion had rather bad downtime when they first opened, but that hasn't stopped them selling a combined total of 15 Flying coasters and ...

Re: New Cable-Car for London: "Emirates Air Line"

Wow... That is very low! :O However, thinking about it, how many regular London commuters are going to use this daily? I can think of a fair amount of people who refuse to use Skyride at Alton out of fear of heights and one thing and another. I can see that some people will not use it for that reaso...

Re: Do people really want their rides to hurt?

I'm 6'2 and a half ish and fairly slim, and I found Submission uncomfortable when I rode it. Not to the point it was pain, but it certainly wasn't the most pleasant ride experience I've had :P I think it is mostly down to shoddy design on Chance's part (And it also says a fair bit about them that Su...

Re: New Cable-Car for London: "Emirates Air Line"

I agree with Islander here. I think the new Sigma Diamond gondolas look brilliant. They are a very simple and modern design. Granted, the assortment of colours used at Towers may not be to everyone's taste, but personally I think it works well. They always look very nice gilding over the gardens in ...

Re: New Cable-Car for London: "Emirates Air Line"

No doubt the gondolas will be the Sigma built ones used on Skyride. If you look at Sigma's site they have a piece of software where you can see how they can look inside. I believe they have the option for fabric benches, which I would expect this to use, like the Tube trains. As a pure guess, I woul...

Re: Skyride Today

I suppose if something was to happen to the gearing or connecting mechanisms on the chain drive were to break the two chain could possibly move back freely. Imagine that the gondola is about to leave the station. Then you hear said bang as the gear fail, or something comes undone, etc. The gondola i...
