Re: Scarefest 2012

Look on the alton website now!! Scare rooms, so much for people with confirmation of it not happening.  Thanks for the information. For the record I didn't doubt you I was just hoping you'd say something that would confirm there return without revealing anything. It's not unusual for Ho...

Re: Scarefest 2012

From everything I've heard there are no Scare Rooms this year. They're not mentioned in any of the official announcements and every time someone asks the only response has been that they are not happening. You’re the only person anorman who seems to have heard anything about them, let alone booked o...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Tarpaulin sheets are not curious enthusiast proof  ;) I agree they could just leave them on the car park. But it could be a case that they've know for a while they're behind schedule and just decided to give Gerstlauer a warning who then decided it would be better to send them at a later date. ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

From what I've been lead to believe the foundations were supposed to be in place by now (hence why the metal rebar's have appeared on site) but due to the wet conditions the site isn't quite ready yet. The track was supposed to arrive about now (as in this actual week) but I heard someone mention th...

Re: 2014-2019: Possible Developments?

Don't fix whats broke, but improve so it doesn't break. Alton works well as itself, yes. However too much further expansion and it would be a nightmare to do in a day or two. A second park could BE a breakoff, something radical like Epcot, something big. Something that would not fit in the original...

Re: 2014-2019: Possible Developments?

In theory it's possible. In fact I even recall reading that there was once a concept for another park that would be the same size as Alton but using an area of land about a mile away with an extension to the monorail which would link between the two. But while it may be possible the real question sh...

5 Trains and a 50 minute queue! That ride must be popular. Either that or it's got a long dispatch time and the 5 trains aren't being run as efficiently as they could be.

Re: Maximum trains?

Before we all jump on the "Merlin are evil and want all our money" bandwagon I think it's worth noting that nearly all parks start the day with rides running below maximum capacity. I've just got back from Europa Park (A park renowned for putting customers and throughput first) and they al...

Re: What is so good about Nemesis???

Holy Heck! I've just seen this topic and can't believe the amount of back lash owenrita's response has received. Its one thing to say you disagree with someone’s opinion but quite another for a whole forum to call them wrong. I could understand if owenrita was just trolling but I don't think this is...

Re: POLL:Would you ride this extremely wet and invasive ride?

-Nightfall- There is no adjusting mechanism. By fix'd head height I'm talking about how the OTS restraints already make sure you're head stays at a certain height. The water comes up to the neck of the shortest rider allowed. The water will be lower for the other riders. Well I suppose that sounds ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

The other day I was answering a few questions on TS about SW7’s capacity which I’ve seen appear on both sites so I thought it might be worth posting my theory’s here too: The design of the station: I'm fairly confident SW7 will not have duel stations (like Air). Two reasons: 1) The station building ...

Re: POLL:Would you ride this extremely wet and invasive ride?

Firstly as D4n said I'd only do this at a Water Theme Park, Etnaland for example. Secondly I really can't see how your fixed head height system is supposed to work. Does the ride adjust like a stand up coaster so that everyone's head is in line? In which case the mechanism would need to be watertigh...

Re: Dudley Zoo - Chairlift Restoration

I remember using this just before it was taken out of action. My only memory was just how unsafe it felt, I can't even remember if it had a proper harness at the time. It's great to see it making a return. It was an ideal way to get to the upper tier of the Zoo. I am surprised its remaining fairly s...

Re: Thorpe Park 2013: Possible Ride Discussion

Was it not that it now doesn't work but in fact because a rare bat colony has taken residence inside and they have to wait until they leave? I swear the bat colony has seaked residence in the Amity water tower and not in the ball, so the fire effect does not have any impact and therefore can be suc...

Re: RCT Quick Questions

You can build the track and not complete the coaster. That way it is effectively just a piece of scenery. This is how a lot of people make switch tracks for there rides.

Re: What slide would you like to see in the Waterpark!?

Posted by another member a while ago, resurfaced again recently, I just happened to remember them. The date is given as April 2007 so this would have been one of the last plans drawn-up before Merlin took over. They could have been the reason it was scrapped; they did cancel a lot of projects that w...

You'd be surprised what has already been planned: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/assumethepossition/07-00-629-FUL-E7433.jpg More images: Side Elevation More Detailed Overhead View But don't get your hopes up. This plan never actually got past the development stage. More recently there was a pl...

No need put yourself down Matt, I can tell you you've done a better Job at stating your case than some  ;)  It's unfortunate you rejoined the forum when all this was going on, I probably would have reacted the same way myself.

What I said was tongue in cheek because like I said before I'm getting fed up with community this and community that. Don't worry that will stop... but only if both sides let it. That was the issue I had with your comment, it might have been tongue in cheek but it was posted right after a new membe...
