Re: Paultons Park 2015 & 2016

If they get this right, Paulton's Park will absolutely be onto a winner with this one. The Vekoma Junior Boomerang is a perfect choice for a park of their nature and target audience. I took numerous rides on Ben 10 today at Drayton Manor and whilst the layout of Paulton's coaster obviously differs, ...

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

Is there any indication on who's supplying the ride system yet? We've had no indication of as yet which is quite surprising considering we are near the end of the season.

Re: Fantasy Island, 25/07/2015

A nice, interesting report. I went to Fantasy Island a few months ago and everything was open. Verdict was ver similar to yours; I was pleasantly surprised with Millennium. Very smooth for a Vekoma and it's also a very well maintained coaster. Odyssey was impressive... but horribly rough. I did love...

Re: Rumoured Dive Coaster - Cedar Point - 2016

Having ridden some of the newest B&M Dive Coasters (Oblivion: The Black Hole most recently... which is fantastic, by the way) and of course the classics such as our beloved Oblivion, I think it's fair to say the Dive Machine is most probably B&M's most intense product on offer. My only criti...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Whilst what happened on The Smiler is truly horrifying, I am now sick and tired on the media 'making the most' (if that is even the correct term) of the incident for click-bate for the internet and social media. As a journalism student, I am truly disgusted. Leave Merlin alone. If the same incident ...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

I was there today. Lots of cars in the car park but the rides themselves were very quiet indeed. I didn't arrive on time, but apparently when the gates opened at 10am there were cheers and wolf-whistles of encouragement to be heard. And obviously, plenty of television crews about, too. They were als...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

I respected Nick Varney before the interview on Sky News, but now, I have ultimate respect for him. That interview on Sky News took it way too far and the presenter overstepped the mark. Obviously, she was very ignorant and clearly her motive was to dig into the poor guy, but there was no need to ge...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

One thing I will say is that I fully admire the way Nick Varney in particular has dealt with the media on this matter. Every interview I've seen he's dealt with the questions carefully and calmly in what must be an extremely tough time for Merlin.

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

At the Nemesis 21st event, Nick Varney promised 'a game changer' for Thorpe Park next year, so it's confirmed next year will see the addition of a major attraction. The I'm a Celebrity maze was an hideous decision and with Saw, the park is slowly turning into an IP land. However, Varney did say that...

Re: 2015 - Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure

Good for you Alton!

To be fair, the roller coaster looks perfect for kids. And the train looks great too. But do we finally have confirmation who built the thing? Is it Zamperla?

Re: Oblivion: The Black Hole - Gardaland - Opening 2015

The distorted objects, in particular the van, is very nice indeed. But the entrance looks horrendous.. so temporary looking.

Re: Nemesis 21st Birthday?

I won a place on the day and thankfully, I'm not in Uni on that day so I will be able to attend. But I agree with everyone else, it is a VERY odd day to have such a prestigious event. I thought the timing of it was very odd too; afternoon running into the evening?

Re: New B&M Dive Machine - Gardaland - Opening 2015

Whilst all of this marketing is very glossy and engaging, it's not original. We've seen it all before with The Smiler, Sub Terra and... Oblivion. I also heard the news before Christmas that if rumours are to be believed, they are naming it after its older British brother which made me cringe and la...

Re: Soundtrack to Park Memories

Absolutely has to be Hard Fi with Hard to Beat as it was on the radio as we drove into Alton Towers for the first time back in 2005.

Re: Proposed Paramount Park in Kent

Interesting to hear the plans and at the stage, everything is looking positive. It almost doesn't feel right that something on this scale could be coming to the UK. I love the look of the concept art and the StarTrek coaster does look wonderful. I am also very curious to the woodie that's in the bac...

Re: Thorpe Park - The Future

So that's a HUGE dark ride (family friendly?) confirmed for 2016 over a roller coaster. Now this is very interesting. Personally, I think the choice of location is brilliant. With the brief details given for now, it's still early days to start speculating what, if any, IP will be implemented into th...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach - Project 2015

This is one ride I didn't expect Pleasure Beach to be getting... A Gerstleaur Sky Fly! I, like most, was almost convinced it was going to be an Air Race and how wrong most of us were. Personally, I think it's a great choice of attraction. Thrilling, interactive and highly impressive. I think what's ...

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach - Project 2015

Anybody else see the other critic post on BPB's Facebook's page today? The Red Arrow's looping in front of the Big One with the number '2015'. So that pretty much confirms the Zamperla Air Race is on the cards..

Re: Your unofficial sound track to the rides of AT

Interesting topic. For me Hard Fi 'Hard to Beat' always reminds me of Alton Towers. It was on the radio the first very time my dad drove me to the park.. I was just 10 at the time!
