Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I'm confused - the guy on the lefts arm doesn't look real - like thermal camera as has been mentioned but the there is just a small amount of green light reflected of the track infront. The shadows on the riders themselves suggests uplight which is correct as the lights would be in the base of the ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

I just found this image posted by HuffPostPics on Twitter which shows one of The Smiler trains lit up to advertise Scarefest. Imagine if all the trains were lit up like this for Scarefest. It would be magical.

Re: The 'How busy will it be?' Topic

What is the last day of Scarefest like in terms of busyness? I understand that although Sunday 3rd November is still in school half term, but as it is a sunday, do you think it will be a little quieter due to schools going back the next day? Thanks :)

Re: Rosewood Park | Kathy and ErnieG014 Productions

I have to say, first impressions look very promising. I like the architecture style and I think that this is a great start. No changes that I can highlight. :)

Re: RCT3 - Elmwood Lake Adventure Park (Clean Up & Carry On) - 29th Sept

After over a year of this file being corrupted and unplayable, and since discovering Joeywp's superb Park Cleanup tool, Elmwood Lake is back with a new area. For now a teaser while I get back into the swing of things. Updates may not be as often as before but hopefully will actually happen. ________...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Rode it twice more today. Row 1 and Row 4 (I forgot to look at the train numbers). Row 4 is definitely more rattly however I was surprised at how smooth it was compared to some reviews. The jolts are still quite painful on the shoulders but I was happy to see The Giggler working again. I also observ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

^ At least there's only one major spelling mistake. :/ Also, they've spelled Marmalisation correct :D

I suppose the Marmaliser boards give some sense of story to members of the public that don't know the story, Not much, but it's something I guess.

Re: Is The Smiler as head banging as SAW: The Ride at Thorpe Park?

Having ridden Saw just last night, I can assure you that even the roughest train of The Smiler (train 3) is still smoother than Saw. Aside from the exit of the cobra roll and one or two other spots, The Smiler is remarkably smooth. It just depends on which train you get which determines the level of...

Re: Heide Park's new B&M Wing Coaster

Absolutely loving the look of the new wing coaster.

If you're interested, here is a little recreation to give you a taste. I must say, the inclined pretzel loop element looks and feels wacky simply in NoLimits, I wonder how it'll ride in real life?

Re: Alton Towers Recreation - RCT3

Great, great work. Definitely one of the best Towers recreations around. May I ask, what CS are the TH13TEEN big trees from that are on the front of the building. I've been looking for some good menacing trees for a while. :)

Wyvern - RCT3 Wing Coaster

Wyvern is a mythological medieval creature with reptilian scales and giant, demonic wings. It swoops over peasant villages terrorising the inhabitants before choosing it's prey. The ride is currently finished and I am working on a video as we speak. I would've posted earlier in development but I los...

Re: Ride Downtime 2013

The Runaway Mine Train stalled yesterday afternoon according to reports from twitter. Maybe this is Towers way of getting the train back to the station?

Various twitter and facebook users report that The Smiler has now reopened again and a queue is forming. I hope it doesn't keep going down.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Looking at tweets with #altontowers on twitter, it appears The Smiler will be opening today. A queue has been allowed to build and The Marmaliser effects are switched on. Maybe it was a simple fix after all.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Furthermore, looking at various pictures of The Smiler, the bolt seems to have broken off on a join on the entry to the first dive loop and not the first inverting drop where all the join problems occurred. This is very strange as this seems to be one of the less stressful areas.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

It looks like it is the rail that has become unaligned in that photo, not the spine. You can see the male-female joint exposed which is only present on the rail joins, the spine simply ends as a flat face. I can see The Smiler being closed for a while.

Re: Quick Questions

Hey everyone, enjoying the sun? I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I am wanting to exchange my tesco clubcard points for Alton towers tickets, and it has the print at home option now. Does this mean that I don't have to wait for ticket office to open at ten to exchange and I can go straig...

Re: Quick Questions

Hi there, I was just wondering what merchandise you can get a discount on with the Merlin Annual Pass? Also is it still the same 20% and how much would a ride photo be with this discount?

Many Thanks

Re: Quick Questions

Hi, I'm planning a trip over the summer holidays and was hoping for some advice on the best time to go. I know with schools being off the park will be busy, but I wanted to try and hit it on a relatively quiet day. I was looking at either Wednesday 14th, or Wednesday 22nd August (a few weeks into t...

Re: The 'How busy will it be?' Topic

How busy do you reckon it will be on Sunday 28th July bearing in mind it is the first weekend after schools break up. I heard the first week of the summer holidays is the quietest. I'm planning on going with some friends who only make it there once a year and I want to make sure they have the best e...
