Re: Ride Downtime Thread 2012

They seemed to be having trouble with the lift hill on Oblivion yesterday. The shuttles kept stalling for some reason (or at least that's what it looked like).

I was quite upset that I couldn't get at least one ride in. A trip to Alton is not complete otherwise  :|

Trip Report - 9/6/12

Arrived at the park just after 9.00 and ran down to the Dark Forest for some ERT on Rita. Queues were already starting to form after the second ride, so it was over to Oblivion …which wasn’t working (and by the looks of it, didn’t open for the rest of the day). Runaway Mine Train next, then on to FV...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

Apologies, I've just realised that this isn't the official layout or plans at all.

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

Now I've no idea if this is authentic, but this is the supposed layout of the 2014 coaster:

It's obviously a launch coaster of some sort  :)

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

^ Unfortunately this is Drayton we're talking about, and they never carry out projects on this scale. It's a very plausible idea, though.

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

The number of trains doesn't doesn't have any effect on the throughput. G Force has such a short layout, that it doesn't warrant an extra train. With Shockwave, the poor throughput is due to loading people into the ridiculous restraint system.

I was reinforcing the original post by posting an official statement from the park.

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

Good to know Drayton Manor Theme Park offers ‘rainy day guarantee’ Drayton Manor is promising to give visitors, who have pre-booked tickets via its website, call centre or hotel, free passes if it rains continuously for a minimum of one hour during their time at the park. In order to claim the retur...

Re: Willowside Park

***Update*** Greetings on this bitterly cold December morning. I have lots of news regarding the new eurofighter currently under construction. First and most important of all - this will be the UK's first ever steampunk themed ride. From talking to other people here, this ride looks to be heavily th...

Katanga Canyon for me. There's something about the atmosphere and themeing which makes the area spectacular.

Love it! That majestic entrance is superb and I'm liking some of the other architecture.

Can't wait to see more  :)

Thanks, Ryan! I really appreciate the feedback.

The eurofighter is actually built already, but I don't want to give too much away just yet. Watch this space  :P

Re: Willowside Park

***Update*** I have some wonderful news to share with you - Willowside will see two *major* installations next season... hopefully . First off, we will be seeing a new roller coaster and themed area, featuring a "concept never attempted in the UK". I have no idea what this could be, but it...

Re: Altons major coasters - How long do they have left?

Oblivion and Nemesis are built especially to interact with the local geography, so it would cost a lot of money to remove these at all. Not sure about Air, but Rita will likely go within the next ten years. It was a convenient investment to boost AT's coaster count, but the ride itself is standard (...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

Squiggles - They did remove the tent and tidy up the area before. All that was left was the old pitch mark. ImURNemesis - Drayton did submit planning applications to build on this area, so who knows? The new coaster is supposedly going to sit near the Buffalo and "interact with the lake". ...
