Re: Quick Questions 2012

I wouldn't have thought so, but you'd have to read the terms and conditions on the voucher.

Re: Warwick Castle parking with WC Annual Pass

I've only got access to the Merlin annual pass T&Cs although I would think it would be safe to assume that the Warwick pass has a similar clause to this one (Clause 16 in the 2012 T&Cs, Clause 15 in the 2011 T&Cs): "...the Annual Pass will be withdrawn from any person whose conduct ...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (ATTRACTION CLOSED 20-25 MAY)

I think changing the drop floor to a mesh would ruin the surprise of dropping to anyone who doesn't know what to expect. walking over a mesh could give away the surprise. I also imagine there's a lot more structure underneath the floor to allow people to walk over it, which would then become visible.

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (ATTRACTION CLOSED 20-25 MAY)

That is certainly a small area to house something significant involving 40 people plus any actors. Whether you think the lifts work well or not, I don't think Towers would break the illusion of the exit lift stopping somewhere before the top, only for you to move through the same level to come out o...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (ATTRACTION CLOSED 20-25 MAY)

I have to say, the prospect of a further post-show worries me. As far as I was concerned, at least in terms of the story of the attraction, the exit lift was a good ending to the story: You make it out, but only just. Unless they significantly change the main attraction I really can't see anything ...

Re: Do you fall quicker on Oblivion than you would falling yourself?

Really, the key points here are that Oblivion is not 'propelled' down the drop, it freefalls. It will also most likely have more resistive forces acting on it than a single person, so my money would be on the person hitting first, but only marginally. Differences in terminal velocity is irellevant b...

Re: Guilty Pleasures...Secret Things to do at the Towers

It surprises me how few people go in there, especially considering how the signs around that part of the road aren't actually that clear about where to go (in my opinion). It's a great spot to take though, and it means you aren't stuck in as much traffic when you're trying to leave the car park, as ...

Re: Guilty Pleasures...Secret Things to do at the Towers

My trick is (on the quiet days at least), on the way into the car parks, at the traffic lights go straight ahead rather than left and into the main car park. This means you go onto Air's car park and can park right next to Extraordinary Golf and the Monorail. The majority of cars all turn left and o...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

I've just got back from the park today and rode Sub-Terra for the second time now, the first time since they did lots of tweaking to the ride. One thing I noticed, like Ripsaw Raver commented on, that you can hear the main ride when you're in the batching area before the first lift. It raised the te...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I disagree entirely! The corkscrew works because it's both iconic and makes sense out of context, it's part of a roller coaster. The Black Hole entrance is neither iconic nor would make any sense out of context.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Great news about the time lapse. It would definitely bring up the anticipation for the coasters opening. I hope it'll be live, but wont that be a little bit too hard to maintain? I'm not sure of the technical details though. The impression I got from The Swarm's time lapse was that the images were ...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

It's unfortunate, but I don't think that the marketing is at fault for guests not expecting the experience they have on Sub-Terra, they market it as a scary experience which is definitely what they indended but they haven't marketed it as a roller coaster, I think every coaster advert in Towers' his...

Re: Derren Brown - Svengali

I agree with Islander to be honest, it was the only show of his that I've seen live although I've seen the recordings of his other shows and I thought Svengali was the weakest of the shows. I still really enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but I thought the others were better and that the others all ha...

Re: Siam Park TR - April 2012

Nice trip report, I agree with you mostly. Getting into the park is a bit of a hassle with about three bottle-necks in close succession. Every time I've been they haven't forced you to get your photo taken, but they do force you to go through the photo point, so there's still a lot of waiting to go ...

I was down at the O2 this weekend and it's looking quite nice, looks a lot higher in real life than photos have made it seem, that was my reaction at least. I look forward to it opening!

Ignoring everything else for a moment, I don't think anyone can disagree that Intamin's lift system on these rides is a thing of beauty.

Re: Grabby machines hardly win anymore..

I believe there's two controllable settings on crane games, one is the chance of getting a 'strong' grab, but they can also alter the strength of the 'strong' grab, so even when you get one of the strong grabs there's still no guarantee it will keep hold of it if it's not got a decent grip.
