Re: 2012: New Attractions

Had a look at the plans now. Why is everyone so sure that there will be a pre show and post show? The building doesn't look very big to me to have these or even to have a decent ride. It just seems to be able house an indoor flat ride. The drop towers seem a possability, but 11m is not going to take...

Re: Movie Park Germany 2011: Van Helsings Factory

Did this ride really only cost 5m euros? It looks great and if at that cost they have done excellent work.
I would rather our parks put the effort into themeing instead of blowing x millions on world first gimmicks!

Re: "China theme park" planned in South Yorkshire

You beat me to it. I just read about this in the Donny Free press and thought it was April the 1st for a minute! Its a bit of a random idea, but if it brings good rollercoasters to within 25min of my house i will be happy. One issue I see though is that in claiming it won't be a flop like the earth ...

Re: Have you ever...

Coincidentally this was posted on Screamscape yesterday. What sounds like a total freak of nature accident took place on Dragon’s Challenge this past Sunday when a rider sitting in the front row was struck in the eye by an unknown object in mid ride and may possibly lose his sight in that one eye. T...

Canada's Wonderland?

Hi Guys Just wondering if anybody had been to Canada's Wonderland during the summer? What are the queue times like? I'm going over to Toronto from the middle to the end of July for my brothers wedding. Having no kids, I would otherwise never dream of forking out the extortionate prices for flights a...

Re: Your location relative to Theme Parks

In sunny south yorkshire I am 2hr from Alton, 2hr from Balckpool, 1hr15 from LWV, 1hr30 from Flamingo and probably 1hr15 from Drayton, which is'nt a bad line up actually, just no 'local park'. Ive never bothered to go to Thorpe or Chessington! Would need and overnighter I guess for that. My ideal lo...

Re: Lightwater Valley: 2011 Discussion

I hope it is Barnstormer. From looking at the other rides at Loudon this is the only one that looks to a good addition for LWV and would also join the tractor ride in creating a new area. Twist and shout would be a bad idea, no matter how much enthusiasts like them the general public do not see them...

Re: Disneyland Paris - YOUR ten year plan

Good work, but a long read! I think I have read somewhere that the area behind the studio tram tour station is an area likely to be a large circular lake. Looking on the maps it seems to have a general circular shape and I think the tram station was always intended as 'temporary' in its construction...

Re: Doctor Who - THE RIDE?

Over at TN I ran a design a Dr Who ride competition, we got some quite cool ideas, a lot that wouldn't be Dr specific. Go have a look. Had a quick read Stretchy. Some interesting ideas, including yours that is very similer to what i posted above! I think Doctor who as an IP is possibly the most fle...

Re: Doctor Who - THE RIDE?

Merlin - I had also thought of entering the tardis as being a good start to a possible doctor who ride. Following this the guests could all sit in a circle within the tardis (lap bar) with a live actor playing a different incarnation of the doctor (so as not to date and can use diff actors) and his ...

Re: Lightwater Valley: 2011 Discussion

You are not going to get anying much more than that for a park that currently attracts under 400,000 guests per year, they simply dont have the money to spend more on producing the advert especially when you consider the costs of actual airtime. You may say that they cannot afford it, but I would s...

Re: Lightwater Valley: 2011 Discussion

I dont like it I'm afraid. It looks too amaturish and not enough money spent on it. I know Lightwater have this 'small park, pally with the fans' thing going on, but in their marketing they need to look far more professional. When people visit a park or buy a product etc they assoiciate themselves w...

Re: Florida Break 2011 - Your help is required!

I went with my wife in September last year for 8 days from around the 14th I think. To respond to the above few posts, we were a little worried about the rain storms, but we ended up droping on and only had about 30min of rain the entire holiday. With harry potter land and ride, you will have no pro...

Re: Wallace & Gromit Ride for Blackpool?

Gold mine is going. Just got back from blackpool, the ride op told me that it will be here for 3 months, then shut forever to be done over as a wallace and gromit ride. So go and ride it while you can! He backed this up by saying that gold mine isnt even on their map, which it turns out is true. 2 o...

Re: Your favorite Theme Park "land".

My choice goes to Asia at Animal Kingdom at WDW. As with most of Disney its the attention to detail and the amount of it that goes in to the whole place that looks amazing. Plus I love the Nepal/himalaya style.

Re: Merlin Monopoly?

Do you know when their end of year is? It is usually April for most businesses, but may be different with Merlin and AT to suit the season. The problem with all the above is we don't know (presumably) where the investment cost of new rides is. If the end of year is April, then the cost of Thirteen w...

Re: 2011 Map ideas

Going back to earlier posts about interactive maps in the park itself, whilst i don't think this is a good idea because, well it would be broken and not maintained very quickly, but also because there are just too many people who would need to look at the map and they take a while to work through. B...

Re: New restaurant ideas

I agree with all the above in that chains are a bad idea for theme parks and also agree that Alton could do so much more with their food options. On visitng in November for the first time in 2 years I was pleased to see the options had improved from basically just mcdonalds, pizza hut and KFC, but I...
