Re: we need flat rides !!!!

Am I the only one that hates flat rides? I don't ride many, so maybe i'm been harsh, but its just the fact that parks turn to flats as cheap drop in rides for a 'new ride yipee' to often. My favorite rides are the exact opposite - well thought out, creative, themed rides built for the park, which lo...

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland: 2011-2014 Development

Screamscape jumped the gun and have now said that this is the slinky dog track for toy story playland and not the start of the grizzly coaster. Shame really as I don't think toy story playland looks like a great addition in terms of the rides - the area looks cool from the pics i've seen of the pari...

Re: 2011: New Attractions Discussion

My guess is that nothing will happen. I reckon they put all their eggs in one basket - getting a cheapo shrek 4D - and dreamworks wern't having it, so now they've got nothing! They are clearly very unprepared for the coming year, unless they have something up their sleave and are having a good laugh...

Re: Disneyland Paris: 2011 Discussion

I didn't know that Paris used to have a Lion King show. Presumably the same as in Orlando? Its a great show, can't see why they would ever have wanted to take it away. Was it in the same theatre? Disney and more have a good read about the ratatouille dark ride. http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2010...

Re: New area themes

Sorry guys, but don't like the steampunk idea. Disney have kinda done it at Paris (not that far away) and Alton couldn't do it anywhere near as good. I don't think it has a broad appeal either. In terms of other new/re themed areas, I think Alton has too many at present. I make it at least 10, most ...

Re: Wallace & Gromit Ride for Blackpool?

It wouldn't have to be in place of goldmine. There is a decent size patch of land where turtle chase used to be (next to the lake) or they could put it where 'impossible' is, since this is a poor attraction, but it may not be big enough unless they extended out the back towards the shops on the prom...

Re: Pleasure Beach Line-Up 2011

I went to Blackpool last March (maybe April) when they had a half price deal on. Both gold mine and rollercoaster were running - really enjoyed both and am glad they're not going anywhere. Great that Bling has gone - it looked poor and cheap, something BPB should be moving away from. A wallace and g...

Re: Drayton Manor General Topic

I'm not a big fan of it when they build a ride, then just call if after an IP, but they can be really good when the ride is built around and including the storey of the IP, like they do at universal. But Universal own the rights to many of the attraction IPs remember, so they have alot more freedom...

Re: Drayton Manor General Topic

Are you actually serious ¬_¬, Drayton Manor is so much better than having sponsered rides :x. I mean why does everything have a sponser these days, its annoying me with Alton Towers getting them let alon Drayton Manor. If you think about it...it's the total opposite. Imperial Leather pay to sponsor...

Re: What does AT need?

They need a better focus on the overall enjoyment of the day for the guests. This means, scrap the car parking charge (add a quid or 2 to admission if they must), vastly improve maintenance, improve the themeing, improve the food options, bring back free fast passes and have more covered/indoor area...

Re: Attendance levels

'PBB got around 850,000 this year, compared with 875000 in 2009.' Really? That can't be right, can it? I went to Blackpool in March, it was great, really made a turn for the better and there was a fair few people there, even though it was cold. I would have thought they were close to Alton's attenda...

Attendance levels

Hi Guys. Just wondering if anybody knows when attendance figures for the last season are released? I would be particularly interested to know BPB attendance as its the first year that they have a gated entry. Don't think it will be anywhere near the 5.5 - 6million they said they got before, maybe 3m...

Re: UK parks are AWFUL

Hi Guys. First post after starting to read here in September after visiting Florida and becoming obsessed with theme parks, particularly the design of rides and parks in general as I work for an architect. Felt I had to respond on this one - hopefully its not too long. Firstly, I think calling UK pa...
