Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

Move them? They're both outdated anyway..

As long as they keep the building and ride system, i'd be happy. I love dark rides, but I absolutely hate that depressing damp FRANK-style advert of why you shouldn't become a pirate.

Re: Lightwater Valley: 2013 developments

Looks relaxing and lovely, and an option I'd definitely consider should whenever I visit.

Is this what they've been saving their money up for? Or are they taking another development pot to produce this?

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Started Groundwork in thirteen in November 2008 when they removed corkscrew didn't they?

They were definitely digging and building for entire of 2009..

Re: Scarefest 2012

If they like the idea of using tents on park (they tried with hospitality, they used black hole), what's the chances they may try and use something like GoalStriker as a scaremaze? Right next to zombies path, good customer flow.. easily customisable..

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (ATTRACTION CLOSED 20-25 MAY)

Photos were being tested recently... the idea of them coming in during these changes wouldn't be too ridiculous if they did decide to bring them in along with their own improvements.

Re: 2012: Neglect, decay - demise?

The new loos have had a full makeover. They really are very nice. They're the same as lego - not a surprise seeing as ex-lego management pretty much run that park now. If only towers did the same to improve the days out - its the only park to not have had toilet refurbs. Mmm lovely talking about to...

Re: Off Peak Closure of SkyRide and Other Cuts

Why is it that Merlin have decided to go for building major attractions every three years instead of every four? A new major attraction every four years was absolutely fine. Easily - it makes the parks marketable, it keeps guest volumes at a steadier level, easier to forecast income and debt repaym...

Re: Off Peak Closure of SkyRide and Other Cuts

Wow, this has blown out of proportion a bit. AFAIK Skyride is only closed on the designated small days - those with guests of less than 6000. That's the 4pms, or the 5pms until schools start appearing. Drayton Manor - increased prices hugely, created car parking charges to compete directly with merl...

Re: Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (May Contain Spoilers)

Interesting post Ben - however lights on the drop would never work. You'd see too much dropping down, and by seeing the length of the drop also takes away any of the scares if may give people. Anybody got any ideas what they may be doing over the next week? I've heard that you can see some physical ...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

Same as towers did - literally asking if you'll visit, why you intend on visiting, and if you'll visit again.

Dunno why they cover it up with helping to improve experience - none of the questions relate to this whatsoever!

Re: 2012: Neglect, decay - demise?

The best thing about this topic, is that I can think of another merlin park which would completely and utterly warrant a topic like this.

Shame noone cares about chessington - the park which nothing ever happens over winter.

Just to expand on Dave's point about Dark Forest aging poorly I'd like to show you all this photo. I took this at February Half Term last season when TowersTimes had our behind the scenes tour of Air http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/190399_1775862649067_1614368002_1659028_4859115_n.jp...

Re: Off Peak Closure of SkyRide and Other Cuts

They only put off the float cos the shares market had pretty much collapsed when they were going to do it - instead they got another company on board, CVC i believe, to fund their expansion etc. Dunno when they'll next decide to float though, who knows. Depends how long the current investors are hap...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

Almost entirely the weather, and the recession. BOGOFs aren't doing too well.

I think merlin understood this anyway, as at beginning of the year opening hours were cut at both thorpe and towers.

Re: Scarefest 2012

Bit of a generalisation there.

I'm sure if they had enough people, and those people were in the right places, then they'd have cracking lighting.

They need to get in touch with the people who do Chessington's lighting.

Chessington themselves.

Wish they really did do that though. Chessie makes themselves so sexy (though irritating at the same time with overplaying of just one track around the entire park).

Lighting = win.

Re: Waterpark: General Discussion 2012

Doesn't quenchers pretty much just sell sandwiches anyway? Generic branded names give a reputable brand in merlin, so any regular visitor is more likely to visit the outlet knowing that its a good brand. As long as the name is the only thing generic, and the rest fits the theme, then i'm not too fus...

Re: Scarefest 2012

Coloured Gels are ace - and they do tend to use them where lighting is concerned (apart from the brilliant LED lighting). Problem lies with Speedy Hire seemingly not being able to allow coloured gels on their temporary lighting systems. If they could do this, i'm hoping we'd end up seeing far more e...
