Surely the practical and sensible thing to do is increase footfall in the off-peak season to increase profits rather than put people of visiting in the first place.

It's something they do do - you get far more people offpeak than you used to even a few years ago.

Re: Off Peak Closure of SkyRide and Other Cuts

Source:- Ride management. It's happened a couple of years ago in cutbacks as well.

It's up to you whether to believe me or not, but I thoroughly believe this is a towers cutback, similar to the ones experienced at the other merlin parks.

Re: Brighton: i360 Tower given go-ahead

It's definitely got a sustainable business plan - you can definitely see corporate events happening there, and will definitely boost brighton.

Very good for brighton as a whole! I'm sure it'll be great to see from up there as well.

2012 operational cuts

Totally don't have a clue where to put this, but skyride is being considered for closure during offpeak days.

Re: Merlin's next park?

Little Chef, Clintons Cards and Peacocks are evidence of companies with overburdening debt. Merlin has a seemingly sustainable plan of serving the debt - purchasing and expanding midway attractions. The ones which require very little outlay, small investments, but gain huge returns. These'll allow t...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Taking inflation into consideration, yes. But when the price of steel and general landscaping work has risen way more than inflation, I would assume that chris is about right.

Re: Scarefest 2012

Being pedantic here, but hotel guests got their usual rides fastrack last year. They wouldn't create the field again, that concept has been used and died. Heard that boiler house won't be coming back either. Would be interesting to see what happens this year. Really, really hoping they put more effo...

Re: Thorpe Park 2012: The Swarm

I am totally against this, as it's a worrying trend... - but if Merlin need to save the pennies because they aren't getting the guests through the doors, then well... they need to save! Clearly their business plans and what they want is not working at the moment at their UK theme parks (possibly LL...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

However, it is what it is, PR.. it gets the name of Drayton Manor in, it gets the rides and zoo and food available in.

It's actually an ace article - and will definitely be printed in the papers. They're getting the hang of this marketing malarky ;)

Look out for their fb offers and stuff. Like I said, I used it and it was £16. Wasn't a bogof.

Re: Scarefest 2012

Not particularly, just the half term holidays are in a stupid place this year.

We have 15 days of scarefest this year, we had 17 last year.

Re: Air's extended queueline

The queue is fully used a couple of times a year, namely scarefest now. TVs do work, the speakers only play what the TVs do. But they only advertise cadbury heroes on there (and how people like to hear about flying - along with more cadbury sponsorship), they don't use them. Would be nice to see the...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

The wettest April in 100 years certainly hasn't helped. Flamingo Land and Lightwater Valley are also struggling to hit targets. I imagine it is the same for most parks. All the merlin parks. So, every UK park has struggled then. Drayton, with their prices.. all they need to do is go down the merlin...

Re: Legoland closed due to power failure

I imagine so, considering they would've chosen to go out on that specific day and whatnot, maybe special occasion.

If I got offered another day, or another park on same day after driving to lego, i'd definitely choose the latter.

Re: Merlin's next park?

Double standards, Corkscrew was just as much iconic to Alton Towers as Cyclone was to Southport, both were removed for different reasons but probably the right reasons in the end. Very different. Corkscrew was replaced with another multi-million pound attraction designed to keep people coming in, i...

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

Loving the improvements draytons making on the park - they've finally gotten to understand that visuals mean everything, and by subtle improvements such as grass and wood instead of concrete makes a world of difference to a day out. The park is looking pretty good for drayton standards. Main bugbear...

Re: A question or two about Th13teen

It is only a matter of seconds it takes to close, and certainly improves the experience, however it must have a significant impact over the space of an hour for alton to stop using it fully. Shame. [/color] It's just unreliable, is all. So, sometimes it shuts, sometimes it doesn't. Has nothing to d...

Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

It's fine, unless those are the only days you're going and you're paying for a quiet day. I'd rather go and have an area closed for 90mins (when I probably won't be there anyway due to travelling), spend my money and have no queues all day than have no park at all. I cannot honestly believe a theme ...
