Re: Merlin Parks Quick Questions

Yeah the rides nearest the containment gates get busy quick - Vampire and Fury first, with Bubbles filling up quickly after.

The rest of the rides take a while longer to fill up.

Re: Would you like to see these at Towers?

All I'd like to see is them nice and refreshed.. like some lovely motorway service toilets, or london eye toilets - not something which you can relate to a camping site ;)

Re: Alton Towers Staff Ride Areas

You get to say your preferences if you're successful - its the last question in interview.
Be aware that the ride areas may be different this year to whats written though.

Re: Hotels and resort during closed season

The tours would be brilliant, especially if you consider the people who would be likely to stay at a theme park hotel when the theme park itself is closed.. When I visited in late November, what bugged me was that although the waterpark was open, the doors into Splash Landings were.. locked shut. Me...

Re: Alton Towers Waterpark Maintenence

Their head management are from the parks in early stages - pretty certain they know what they're doing!

Re: Alton Towers Waterpark Maintenence

I think merlin need to focus on profits, to ensure they dont drop.. and if they do, work out why ;).

But yeah.. I get what you mean..

However, it would've been better if the article came from a broadsheet - link from the independant please?

Probably only one we can trust on this issue ;)

Re: Alton Towers Waterpark Maintenence

I think that nowadays, things will only really be approved budgetwise if it brings a good cost-benefit to the business - editing the slides would have not made any difference to the revenue stream, whereas a good new floor painting would for instance. It's not like investments isn't there, unlike la...

Re: Tory cuts

Not homeless, but taken into consideration whereabouts you live and how many dependants etc does make a difference! Do these things include NI contributions, pension contributions and the like? Just wondering really. Earning 150k in stafford would be amazing, earning 150k living just outside london ...

Re: Scarefest 2011

Made sense changing its name, but in turn it failed I think.

The ride ended up worse than Duel Live, even though it was more kids related. And my god, that preshow loop was bloody annoying.

Re: Tory cuts

Dislike the whole way the poll is balanced towards tbh. That's like suggesting which one to put towards. I personally believe that the govt has had lots of waste, and needs to be slimmed. Don't think public services should be cut, unless they could be offered to us by a private company at a similar ...

Simply enter the park, follow signs to coach park/express parking - its that big green building. Huge blue starry sign saying employee parking as you enter the coach park :)

Re: Lightwater Valley: 2011 Discussion

It makes sense for them to put everything closer together really. It makes the place look like its got more to offer, rather than huge gaps. The topscan going between the two huge rides should help level out their queues a bit. Ensuring the rides are together is a good way of utilising them as well....

Re: No Ultimate Event for 2011

Aww, a shame. Those days, even though incredibly busy, were good. (No, i'm not religious).

A park full of christians is far more preferential to a park full of usual day guests, especially sun ticket days ;)

Re: New Resort Branding 2011

Perhaps so. But I don't think the branding is becoming merliny in the way of the late tussauds era. Remember the late tussauds era of every donut shop looking the same, no areas having area specific branding? We've moved away from that with ripsaw cafe having ripsaw style branding, whereas the other...

Re: Alton Towers Staff Ride Areas

In regards to Thorpe, It's still Thorpe/CWoA. When I was at chessie last year with a colleague from towers, he used to work at chessington and spoke to the pirate ship op (black something?) and he varies his week opping the pirate ship at chessie or opping saw the ride at thorpe. Mr Welsh, works at...

Re: Lightwater Valley: 2011 Discussion

As with all the parks, its probably the weather and little bits which make a different park stand out to you. I did two almost uk trips this year, both featuring Flamingoland and Lightwater Valley. For me, lightwater is amazing and works over it. The staff are lovely, the entire area is relaxed.. th...

Re: YourDay: News and Updates

Yeah. Towers never took over the running of the stuff.

Dunno if anyone noticed, the AT DVD staff wore "CONTRACTOR" on their ID cards on lanyards and were paid less than towers when advertised on the website.
