Re: Two Smiler trains collide -- BREAKING

True or false, I don't know how they would know something like that, last I checked emergency services were still dealing with this. Alton Towers PR need to spend less time answering idiot teens asking when the ride will be open moaning there day is ruined. I couldn't care less if an empty train sta...

Re: SW8

What is your idea of compact? I personally think the last few iterations have shown how flexible they can be, especially with the first the launched variant upon us. Flug der Dämonen is certainly a very compact layout and it seems that the trains will vary to suit.

Re: TT Smilefest - 28th March 2015

i did consider going to this, but living in Warwickshire and being in Barnsley for a wedding on Thursday, I decided to swing by the resort on my way home today. Enough miles travelled for one week. I have to say the "Northerners" have a much nicer drive in, especially the last 10 miles app...

Re: What will The Smiler be like in 20 years?

Yes, even if it isn't the highest quality construction, if it is maintained well then it will be fine. Maintained well? I'd love to know who did the winter maintenance then, today I found 2 different cars rougher than 21 year old Nemesis, which I don't even have to think about bracing for. By rough...

Re: New Website

I noticed this when looking for Thorpe/Alton opening times the other day, it took me long enough to work out which category they had dumped it under, it is truly awful.

You could walk to the highest point of the towers and propose up there. I've heard there is some great views from up there

Shame about the state of the roof itself. The door that is supposed to be padlocked to stop people getting to a very old rickety ladder is hilarious.

I thought that as well, but I have no idea how or why you would look to achieve that. So I presumed he meant inversions.

Re: SW8

Although there is a debate over whether they are truly a wooden, or a hybrid. Inverted wooden has been done, one of the more recent additions....Goliath.

Re: Will Merlin buy Drayton Manor Theme Park?

Drayton is less than half an hour away from me, Alton is 1 1/2 - 2 hours. I think I last visited Drayton almost 10 years ago. It's far to expensive for what it has to offer, which isn't a lot.

Clarification, Nick Varney is allergic to anything that isn't a "World's First" and has no understanding how that doesn't correlate in building a good ride.

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

It's quite ironic really, a ride that makes such a big deal over all those inversions and yet many people seem to rate the two little air time hops as their favourite parts ! they are the best parts of the ride tbh, as well as being a relief from the head banging :lol The bunny hops are awesome tbh...

Re: Th13teen compared to Runaway Mine Train

I find it interesting that the big point that has been missed here is that Runaway is a powered coaster, the train is not moving on momentum started with the traditional lift hill as Thirteen is. The interesting point on it being powered, is that the second time round can be a bit quicker and more l...

Re: Best way to hit the park

It changes every season for me, before Smiler opened up, I'd go enjoy a very quiet forbidden valley for the first hour. Now, I head straight to smiler and get in the pre 10AM queue line, straight onto Oblivion as this will have the odd busy period, cut through the castle to get to Thirteen, Rita if ...

Re: Oblivion's future

The maps have never been about what is geographically correct, or size relative, it's about what is new and what Alton want you to pay attention to. In regards to the topic, I was just happy to see the new girl get a lick of paint, the only sort of change I would want to see to Oblivion is possibly ...

Re: Thorpe Park - The Future

Oh I appreciate the whole engineering of the ride is generations apart, it's not a fair comparison, the lift, brakes, everything. I'd just be happy with new trains on colossus, it might actually be an enjoyable ride without having to brace your neck the entire ride! :D

Re: Thorpe Park - The Future

I'm still banging my drum for some money to spent on Colossus, a great ride layout that runs so badly. I've posted pictures of the new seats before, but listen to how well it runs, notice the lack of the "click, click, click" as it dives towards the first loop. :D https://www.youtube.com/w...

Re: SW8

That will never happen unless a third party are involved in the project, B&M are very good at what they do and will not involve what they perceive as gimmicks. The launch system on the Hulk was not done by them. How about Nick Varney put's his ego to one side and forget about it being a first, o...

Re: [email protected] Discussion - Who's Coming & Paid

Thanks Dan

I've had a pass for years, time and money isn't an issue, I just normally avoid weekend visits like the plague.  :p)

Sounds like something different, I'll double check my calendar and look to book in that case. :)

Re: [email protected] Discussion - Who's Coming & Paid

Is there anything else happening with this event other than an Early ride on Nemesis and the chat with John, anything behind the scenes as such?  I've never come along to a TowersTimes organised event so I'm considering whether to just say, heck why not.
