Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Nemesis94 just a quick question. All though mass is important for kenetic energy doesnt a longer train introduce more drag... primarily because the back of the train often prevents the acceleration down a drop as it has not reached the summit. Essentially the simple mathmatics are not easily applie...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

incidentally the return hole in the station is 4m wide which is definitely not enough for a 4 across train and the maintenance track hole is only 3.5m so i think we are looking at 2 across trains. although at the moment these plans are lacking huge levels of detail so i suppose anything could chang...

If anyone wants me to, I can paint up a sample plate at work of RAL7021 and upload of photo of it so you can see the exact colour.

PS If you check my images on page 20 (I think), the track and supports are coloured in the RGB equivalent of RAL7021.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Just thought I'd share some thoughts on a couple of issues that seem to keep cropping up, based on the amount of time I have spent looking at and measuring the drawings. Vertical Launch? These plans are for a standard vertical lift hill used with the normal Euro-Fighter cars. The curves onto and off...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

POV anyone?

Warning: This was a very quick, very low-res video of my OLD version of SW7. It is quite jolty and rough in places, but most of these have been worked out in my later version. Hope you enjoy it.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Hi all. Version 3 of the No Limits re-creation, but only a teaser I'm afraid. Updates may be a little scattered through the week as I won't have as much time to work on it. I have put the ride over a very basic landscape (a quick 30 second mop up in paint to check dimensions, hence the very low res)...

Great NL creation thanks.... not sure on the duelling thing though would cut down on the throughput loads surely.

With the lift speeds I am using (10kph) the duelling works based on a car dispatching every 30 seconds. So we're talking around 960pph if it uses the usual 8-seater Furo-Fighter car.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Those No Limits creations are excellent, but the actual ride track isn't going to be anything like that is it? No, I'm just using what is available in No Limits. Gerstlauer Tri-Track is the closest I can get. The actual track looks similar to Intamin's new Giga/Mega coaster track, so Gertslauer mig...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

What an amazing recreation nemesis94! I was attempting it myself, but compared to yours, mine is nothing to go by! Although one thing that I advise you do do, is to find the texture file for the track in the planning doccuments, copy the page into paint, use that tool on paint that allows you to co...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Hi all. I've been busy on No Limits again. My previous effort was slightly out, dimension wise. So it looked just a little bit  too cramped. I have completely rebuilt it and also included supports as per the designs (which are very rough I must say, some supports go straight through some track ...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Just a thought on the track front. Is it possible that Intamin and Gerstlauer track are fabricated by the same people? Hence how Euro-fighters have Intamin-like Ladder and Tri-track. Could this new track be at the fabricators suggestion, hence why it looks similar to the New Intamin mega/giga coaste...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Oh, forgot to add. I've checked the dimensions of SW7's station against Saw's and it's pretty big. Both buildings are approximately 11m tall. Saw's building is approximately 30m x 20m SW7's station buliding is approximately 28m x 14m, whilst the circle offshoot has a radius of 11m. To me it still se...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I sincerely doubt it will be a vertical launch. If you check the plans and measure the radii of the curves onto and off of the vertical lift (approx 4m), this is exactly the same as the structures used on a Euro-Fighter Model 320+ lift (such as Rage at Southport). Hence it is much too sharp to be la...
