Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

If it is going to open on Friday then i would assume there will be some sort of announcement tomorrow, although obviously they will only announce it if they are 100% certain that it will open then. It will really get embarrassing if they miss another opening date. Well you know what they sy 3rd tim...

Re: What car do you own?

Wooh cars, love it. I do like my cars. I have only owned two personally. But use any and every opportunity to drive and look at different cars. Ive not long had a go in a civic type R with induction kit (it blew my mind). It's the fastest thing I've drove. Honestly the power in those things is pheno...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Yeah it's scrapped on the surface but how do we know that the wear and tear of trains rushing over it won't lead to structural damage? Physics and Mathematics. The rubber/plastic on the wheels is softer than the steel track (though not the paint, obviously), the wheels would break before the steel ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

know it's exciting to ride the latest alton towers ride but to plan anything before the ride is officially 100% open you should expect to be dissappointed, i'd rather wait a month and not queue for 6 hours,  I dont pay for towers tickets and even I have not made any plans to go yet I only live...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The reason I'm so mad is I've arrange child care for my daughter, booked time off work. Of which I only by 16 days in a year. Saved money for not only entrance fees but petrol money. And the abismal prices of chicken in AT. I love Alton Towers, I really do but to let people down like they have is ri...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Whats the difference between valleying & stalling? My common sense tells me a stall is when it gets stuck, valleying is when it doesn't make it and then rolls backwards through the track and then forwards again until it eventually rests at its lowest point. (Like a valley) You've answered your ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Hi, It's rumored to have valleyed in the pit at the far end of the site (bat wing / cobra roll) The suggestion is not of a stall, but of a wheel assembly problem. This is why mine & Roodles photos showed so many track shots - together with shots of the replacement train. These photos are re-pos...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The park have a disability policy and will have specific guidelines for The Smiler, which I'm sure will be available on request. Let's move on from discussing whether or not disabilities are 'excuses' (they're not) and talk about the ride. AT just tweeted that they knew about the delay 48 hours pri...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Instead of netting we are getting wire mesh over the queue line, I think this will look much neater than net once finished. http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq133/roodlesnouter/SW7%20May%2025/HampS3_zps4f76029d.jpg Anyone else thinks this would be terrible to be stuffed in?
