Re: M&D's

I watched a PoV compilation of their rollercoasters made about 9 months ago.  They were in shocking states, they had a spinning wild mouse coaster where the car would only spin half a turn before screeching to a halt (rust or bearings being gone), another of the coasters looked rough as hell. Honest...

Re: Paultons Park

That announcement today that measures are likely to be in place until the end of the year is utterly crippling for so many industries. This is probably the smart thing to do given it's looking likely that at best there will be limited operations for themeparks this year and people will be reluctant ...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

I think it's got to be doomed now. A recession would give them a whole lot more muscle to convince the council that they simply couldn't possibly risk building a theme park, but if they could get permission to build a mix of residential and retail...

Re: SW9

The problem with the Rita site (aside from its proximity to Thirteen and the skyride) is that they'd still probably end up having to cut down trees for any sort of interesting coaster layout.  A better solution, if they're able to get permission to cut down a small number of younger trees, would be ...

Re: Legoland Windsor Resort - General Discussion

I like the cars and themeing for the Duplo coaster but I definitely feel it's plays it too safe, even considering the target ages. It makes the old ladybird flat-rides from my childhood look white knuckle. Could have done with making the track twice as long and putting in some humps (for a gentle 'w...

Re: Industry General Discussion

I'm involved in the travel industry and things are grim here. Cutting back costs, asking staff to volunteer for unpaid holiday. We're a viable business with significant cash reserves but it's still scary. Margins in the theme park industry, even for titans like Disney, are razor thin. A lot of theme...

Re: The World of David Walliams - New for 2020

The lack of posts in this thread demonstrates how uninterested everyone is in this. They can make rides and family areas like Hex and Sharkbait reef - really good. But now an inflatable arch is deemed ‘on point’? I’m not the intended audience, nor do I have children. All I can say is that, for ever...

Re: Alton Towers 40th Anniversary in 2020

Underground coaster and indoor watercoaster as "would you like" options, how very specific and in line with what the park could realistically build with their restrictions.

The latter would be great, bolstering the parks need for a clear family coaster and water ride in one.

Wonder if they could have a guide track, Autopia style.

Re: Chessington - The Future

Can those manage the kind of capacity that Chessington would need? They need quite a lot of supervision and hands on help from ride attendants which limits how many you'd have out at a time.

Re: Flamingo Land

I'd hope that other support has just been left upright to prevent it warping from being laid flat on the ground. But yeah, unless that photo is foreshortening things, it looks like anyone with their arm out to that side will finish the ride without it...

Re: MACK Ride - New Concepts: The Rocking Boat & Power Loop

That Rocking boat could produce some amazing dark rides, imagine something like Pirates of the Caribbean Shanghai with that ride system.  Thorpe Park is in need of another family ride and a replacement for Loggers Leap that doesn't soak people on cold days. Would make me happy if they did a high pro...

Re: Walt Disney World - Disney's Hollywood Studios

This article makes things seem a bit grim for the attraction, it's not just lowered capacity and frequent breakdowns, they've actively cut out a notable portion of the ride too. https://attractionsmagazine.com/star-wars-rise-of-the-resistance-attractions-shut-down-repairs/ This can't be good for Dis...

Re: The World of David Walliams - New for 2020

Was always going to be a small ride based on where it was built and the amount of time they have to build it. Looks like there's 6 scenes so assuming 30 seconds between cars the ride will be about three minutes long (assuming it's a stop start system, if it's continuous movement it could be longer o...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Not sure I can ever feel anything but bitterness to this ride. At the expense of sounding like a broken record, closing a family ride (something that's an endangered species at the park) and then putting an up-charge in its shell was a terrible move. I pity the poor member of staff who had to keep t...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

Until there's 'point of no return' levels of building work done, I'll continue to have extreme doubts about it happen but it's so hard not to get ultra excited Family launch as the main showpiece ride, a full on white knuckle space coaster that launches out of a building, 2 smaller, probably family ...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

http://londonresort.info/news/london-resort-signs-renewables-deal-with-edf-energy/

They've signed a deal with EDF to ensure that the park operates entirely off of renewable energy.

A sign that the project is genuinely progressing or more non-committal busywork to keep investors happy?
