Re: Wicker Man - General Discussion

Watching Expedition Extinct (and similar channels), it's pretty common for coasters to get that sort of treatment when long term wear and tear or ride comfort issues become apparent. A wooden coaster is cheaper to rebuild sections of so they'll have smoothed out the forces on it or put more durable/...

Re: Drayton Manor

Going into administration then immediately getting new owners... Lots of suppliers are going to lose a lot of money.

Still, good news for the park. If they want a cheap and easy way of getting a new ride, it would be neat if they repurposed the pirates adventure...

Re: Intamin General Discussion

These seem very good for parks medium size parks looking to squeeze something in a tight area. I can't help but feel that big parks would struggle with their capacity.

Re: Project Rex- 2021

Guessing the Lego Movie 2 flopping spooked them a bit.  Of course  Project Rex could refer to Rex Dangervest from that movie and the white sculpture could be Sweet Mayhem but the rest of the colour scheme and flames don't match  (Scratch the above, the original Lego Movie World was also codenam...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

Reports of a stabbing on the bridge. Police say it isn't terror related and it looks like there was only a single victim.   Hopefully the victim is ok but on the bridge at around closing time when everyone is leaving, lots of kids will have been around. Place full of people wanting to have some fun ...

Re: Walt Disney World - Epcot

Every project that isn't already part way through is going to be cancelled. Disney are taking out record loans at the moment to cover their losses.  The Mary Poppins ride probably isn't a huge loss, the rumours before the initial announcement were that it was going to be a carousel and a recreation ...

Re: Parking garages next to main entrance?

Bah, I never even thought about the height of it, I suppose they could dig so far down, but even then, to fit that many cars into a space like that, feasibly it would end up having to come above tree level.   Having looked at the park from above, there’s so many areas that could potentially be used...

https://www.wdwinfo.com/news-stories/splash-mountain-at-disneyland-walt-disney-world-to-be-rethemed-to-princess-the-frog/ If Maelstrom becoming Frozen Ever After caused a lot of debate and strong feelings, this is going to be on a whole different level.  Closing the rides for up to 2 years (if FEA ...

Re: Disneyland Resort

The resort was due to re-open 17th of July but that's been postponed to an unknown date due to US officials delaying the release of guidance.

America's getting something of a second wave (or the first wave is still going on) so things could get even worse for Disney.

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

Never realized the location was a short walk from Ebbsfleet International. You could spend a few days there, then get straight on the train to Disneyland Paris and spend a few days there. I wish Ebsfleet had better transport rail links for the south, having to go into London then out again makes it ...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

They really should provide clearer information on the closed indoor rides. If Hex, Duel, The Dungeons and sharkbait reef are closed, it's going to be a pretty uneventful trip for people over 8 who can't take white knuckle rides.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-53070380 Blackpool Pleasure Beach talking about their plans on re-opening. Seems they've been consulting with the government which suggests it's not too far away, possibly the next phase so we could see it happening within a couple of weeks. The summer ...

Some impressions of the Diagon Alley after it reopened: https://wdwnt.com/2020/06/photos-universal-studios-florida-diagon-alley-social-distancing-measures-in-place/ Most notable things in that the Gringotts coaster has an insanely reduced capacity (although the article implies that people from the s...

Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

They've said meet and greets are going to be closed but that there will be some wandering characters.  Guessing it'll just be full costumed characters. They can keep the person inside the costume relatively safe (not sure much will get through a mask and furry suit and they can spray it as soon as h...

Re: The World of David Walliams - *Delayed until 2021*

Makes sense. They want it to boost visitor numbers but either the Merlin parks will be ghosttowns when they open or they'll hit their likely drastically reduced capacities very quickly.

Re: M&D's

I watched a PoV compilation of their rollercoasters made about 9 months ago.  They were in shocking states, they had a spinning wild mouse coaster where the car would only spin half a turn before screeching to a halt (rust or bearings being gone), another of the coasters looked rough as hell. Honest...

Re: Paultons Park

That announcement today that measures are likely to be in place until the end of the year is utterly crippling for so many industries. This is probably the smart thing to do given it's looking likely that at best there will be limited operations for themeparks this year and people will be reluctant ...

Re: London Entertainment Resort - General Discussion

I think it's got to be doomed now. A recession would give them a whole lot more muscle to convince the council that they simply couldn't possibly risk building a theme park, but if they could get permission to build a mix of residential and retail...

Re: SW9

The problem with the Rita site (aside from its proximity to Thirteen and the skyride) is that they'd still probably end up having to cut down trees for any sort of interesting coaster layout.  A better solution, if they're able to get permission to cut down a small number of younger trees, would be ...
