Re: Disneyland Paris Refurbishments

The big question is, what rides could they put in for the short term? Seven Dwarves Mine Train, little mermaid are obvious ones. Both of those would probably be really quick to build and I imagine the Mine Train would be a reasonable crowd puller. A Test Track/Cars ride would be a AAA ride that woul...

Re: Disneyland Paris Refurbishments

The park is in terrible condition, Disney have stepped in and basically put the park into emergency measures. Guessing they've decided to get most of the pain out of the way in 6 months rather than have it take a few years. The sad thing is that the main park still still won't be getting any complet...

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

A few things looking at the designs. Even with the extra height, I can't see this being a pure coaster. Building is slightly bigger than X but that doesn't have screens/animatronics. Separate loading and unloading areas. That suggests small, single car vehicles. Takes up too much space (which is at ...

Re: American Park Tour

Most tours I've found are predictably Disney and Universal focused. You can get 2 day Dorney Park and hershey park tours but given their proximity to each other I'm not sure they're really needed. Outside of ones organised by dedicate coaster enthusiast groups like TPR I think you could struggle. If...

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

One thing worth noting is that the ride's footprint is less than half that of Transformers or Spider-man so if it is that ride type, it's going to be much smaller and compact, less physical scenery and more time spent static in front of screens. Not sure how it compares to Ratatouille which is like ...

Re: Soundtrack to Park Memories

In The Hall of the Mountain King for Alton Towers for Obvious reasons.

A lot of 90's dance music reminds me of evenings spent at Blackpool Pleasure Beach (as it was played all the time on their radio station back then).

Re: Proposed Paramount Park in Kent

It's actually pretty Smart of them going after BBC properties. Looking at the branding they've shown and the theming of the entrance zone, they're really pushing the "London" side of things. It looks like they're going after the tourist money hard. With the transport links it will have, th...

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

Whilst the building design doesn't really scream Doctor Who although as Altontowersbarlow pointed out, the design is very much Victorian warehouse and Victorian London is probably the most used Doctor Who period so it could be. 7m isn't tall enough for any sort of rollercoaster (so no Minimoys, grin...

Re: Disneyland Paris

Desperately needs a huge amount of care and attention spent on it. I moaned about it in the Ratatouille thread but the Disneyland park especially is in a sorry state. You pay top dollar to get in. The themeing is dirty and damaged (they were doing work on it when I was there, no effort to hide it, j...

Re: Proposed Paramount Park in Kent

Hard not to find it slightly amusing that they simply had to go to Florida to do that report given how radically different the setup in terms of space and transport. Disneyland Paris would have saved a lot of taxpayers money and been far closer to how Paramount park is. Some of the stuff is hopeless...

Re: General Forum Discussion

Looks a lot like there's a JS XSS attack happening. It's loading a script from herrenmode-kienboeck.at .

Need to make sure the forum's patched up and to see what's loading the JS. It seems the dodgy script is loaded whenever there's a block quote.

Walt Disney World - Epcot

The good news: Disney have announced a frozen ride at Epcot The bad news: It's replacing Maelstrom. It's a bit of a shame, Maelstrom was one of those fun little Disney rides where the fact it was a bit tacky just added to its charm. Plus it's a ride that's relatively hidden and a nice unexpected sur...

There's a good chance Universal have global ride rights to Transformers.

Re: Proposed Paramount Park in Kent

My worry with the Paramount park is the choice of franchises. Sleepy Hollow? Even excluding the Johnny Depp version, it's a famous ghost story so that's fine indefinitely. Star Trek? Always relevant as it always has some form franchise running. Grease? Timeless but very narrow ride/show opportunitie...

Re: Ratatouille at Disneyland Resort Paris

There are a few reasons why I've been so critical of DLP: It's incredibly expensive to get to, to eat in and to enter. The ticket prices are around £15 more and it realistically costs about twice as much for me to go to DLP for a day than Alton Towers. I want to see that reflected in the general pol...

Re: Ratatouille at Disneyland Resort Paris

Disney Studios is starting to become something approaching a full park, when it opened its doors it was embarrassingly lacking in rides. It's still a pretty anaemic park though easily doable in under a day and Toy Story Land is a rather strange thing. Very well themed but all the rides are rather bo...

Re: Ratatouille at Disneyland Resort Paris

I was at Disneyland yesterday and had a go on this (went first thing, already had a 40 minute queue at 10:00am on a day where none of the other queues went beyond 25 minutes). I'll try to keep my impressions as spoiler free as possible: Overall verdict: disappointing because it should have been much...

Re: Thorpe Park - Next Coaster

Has anyone realised that TP have world's firsts too? Saw the ride: world's first horror roller coaster Nah, there's definately been others. The Scooby-Doo Spooky-coaster springs to mind : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW3gaO5E5oE There's also the rollercoaster/ghost train hybrid that featured in ...

Re: Accident at Terra Mitica

Literal nightmare scenario, the way that ride spins, if you aren't held down, you're doomed. Aren't safety harnesses usually redundant, in the event of any sort of failure they lock down? Maybe there's a fault in the sensors (or they used an override) and it left the station without having locked do...

Re: Thorpe Park - The Future

Screamscape are reporting rumours that Thorpe Park are doing a heavily themed indoor ride. Not sure how reliable they are. Valhalla type water ride? Spider-man type ride (the UK is sorely missing a ride of this type and there's a much cheaper version of it available now). Robot arms? Powered inverte...
