Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

Just noticed that there are what looks to be hooks on the arches so it looks like something will be mounted directly on them directly, could be for screens, could just walling. Either way, seems like you're going to be spending most of the ride going through areas with curved walls.

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

Guessing it's getting to the stage where they'll start doing work that gives stronger hints whatever ride system it's going to be using soon. Wouldn't surprise me if their ad/hype campaign gives a few more details over the weekend so they don't risk it being spoilt by drone pilots or people spotting...

Have you not seen the size of King Kongs show building...

That could simply be down to the size of the themeing elements. The concept art shows the vehicles going through a giant gate. The tram tour version of it which uses a simpler form of the tech is extremely compact.

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

Just a thought. Those arches... supports for wrap-around screens?

Something similar to the new Kong ride at Universal perhaps? Has a big advantage in not needing much space

Is an Intamin launched coaster a good idea considering the wind issues at the location?

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

They haven't said anything about it being a family ride but it makes sense given the park lacks family rides (especially in cold/wet weather) and they've said they want to move away from the park being a young adult white knuckle focused park. As for the Gringotts style coaster; Nowhere near the spa...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

eye-wateringly expensive (need to knock a quid off the prices) but it sounds pretty nice. When you go to a theme park, you want to have unusual sweet treats. Funnel cake, dippin dots, freshly made diddy doughnuts etc. Seems the mix they use is closer to a light custard than traditional mixes so it s...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

Alton Towers have government inspectors on site for the Smiler, there is no way the park would risk lying about the incident, especially when they have no idea who could have filmed it. It has all the hallmarks of a scam. Mysterious (and hard to disprove) whiplash injuries and the only witness backi...

Re: Worst. Ride. Ever.

Superstar Limo at Disney's California adventure.

A ride about C-list American celebrities and cardboard cut out scenery, bad enough to feel ashamed simply for having ridden it.

Looks fun enough for a family coaster, although you lose almost the entire major drop when sitting at the front. Would this run multiple laps? Very short ride otherwise.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

The sensationalist rubbish continues: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/panic-alton-towers-after-ride-5861747" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; From Alton Towers statement it sounds like a kid on the ride got hysterical and they halted it on the lift hill and emptied the coaster. Of ...

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

And to be fair fair Ratatouille isn't great, and was awfully received :lol Yep, I was pretty disappointed with it. Far too short, 3D didn't work properly and there were too many "you're flying through the air" moments when you could still clearly see the floor in front of you that ruined ...

Ratatouille in Disneyland Paris cost £110m.

Top quality dark rides are very expensive.

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15

Kay Burley is a really vile person. Her only goal in that interview was to bait a headline quote out of him at the expense of finding out any potential new information. I hate gotcha journalism. Pressing him to reveal information about people in hospital was sickening. It's a fair question to ask on...

Re: Disneyland Paris Refurbishments

The big question is, what rides could they put in for the short term? Seven Dwarves Mine Train, little mermaid are obvious ones. Both of those would probably be really quick to build and I imagine the Mine Train would be a reasonable crowd puller. A Test Track/Cars ride would be a AAA ride that woul...

Re: Disneyland Paris Refurbishments

The park is in terrible condition, Disney have stepped in and basically put the park into emergency measures. Guessing they've decided to get most of the pain out of the way in 6 months rather than have it take a few years. The sad thing is that the main park still still won't be getting any complet...

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

A few things looking at the designs. Even with the extra height, I can't see this being a pure coaster. Building is slightly bigger than X but that doesn't have screens/animatronics. Separate loading and unloading areas. That suggests small, single car vehicles. Takes up too much space (which is at ...

Re: American Park Tour

Most tours I've found are predictably Disney and Universal focused. You can get 2 day Dorney Park and hershey park tours but given their proximity to each other I'm not sure they're really needed. Outside of ones organised by dedicate coaster enthusiast groups like TPR I think you could struggle. If...

Re: Thorpe Park - New Indoor Attraction 2016

One thing worth noting is that the ride's footprint is less than half that of Transformers or Spider-man so if it is that ride type, it's going to be much smaller and compact, less physical scenery and more time spent static in front of screens. Not sure how it compares to Ratatouille which is like ...
