Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach Report 6-5-13

Would I be right in assuming that it was unbelievably busy yesterday?

Re: PortAventura next week.

Can't imagine the queues being too bad, I went around this time a couple of years ago and never had to wait more than 20mins for anything. Furious Baco gets long queues due to it being a high profile ride near the entrance but I don't know if Shambala gets busier than that (wasn't built when I was t...

Re: Ride Accidents 2013

Love ski jumps,  especially the ones where you actively lift off and land with a thump.

Always paranoid that spin rides like that (and waltzers) will cause your car to go flying off though...

Re: Chessington World of Adventures - Zufari, Ride into Africa Review!

What happened on the bridge bit? It's sadly gone now but what happened was that you drove onto the bridge, the guide/driver makes a comment about how it's an old bridge, you stop on it, then it starts to collapse. The section of bridge you're on actually falls down into the river and the rest of th...

Re: Chessington World of Adventures - Zufari, Ride into Africa Review!

They'll need to do something to try and get the animals out and about whilst keeping them happy. Maybe a few strategic disguised heaters and treats/food would help. Ending sounds fairly neat, shame it's not quite as impressive as Rhino Rally which completely blew me away with the bridge collapse sec...

Re: Proposed Paramount Park in Kent

Jumping spiders can't be that rare, I'm sure I've seen them in my garden before (they're fairly tiny, only a bit bigger than moneyspiders)...

Anyway, the Jumping spiders aren't yet protected by law so it shouldn't really have any effect unless they're chasing a bit of good PR.

Arguably the top 5 rides in the park were closed... Did they offer a refund or free tickets?

Re: Thorpe tuesday 16th of april 2013

Can't see it being terribly busy.

May catch some kids from private schools with longer holidays but I'd be surprised if you ever had to wait more than 20 mins or so for a ride.

Re: Proposed Paramount Park in Kent

It's been approved but their (public) proposals so far have been basically "on the condition of getting funding". It's a huge amount of capital to invest, even if it's incredibly promising. May be another theme park south of London (just) but you couldn't hope for better transport links wi...

Re: PortAventura 2012: "Shambhala" B&M Mega Coaster

Does make you wonder about their safety record, what with Tutuki splash having a car/boat derail and get crashed into by the following one. Bad for two reasons: heavily front loading the car and not noticing the derailment and pressing the emergency stop.

Re: Flamingo Land remove mouse for new ride

Can't be as long as my last visit.

It was so long ago all I remember is walking down the path with a load of lights and model dioramas and the world's crudest water chute where you're pulled back up by a rope.

Has to be over 20 years ago.

Re: Proposed Paramount Park in Kent

Given what's happening in other countries it seems unlikely.

If it is happening though, progress will be very very slow and it'll take a long time before they actively build it.

Longleat Safari & Adventure Park

Looks like Longleat Safari Park are going the Chessington route and adding a section with a few rides. http://www.themeparks-uk.com/news/theme" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... gleat.html Not entirely sure how much of that is placeholder graphics but it looks like a fairly tradition...

Re: PortAventura 2012: "Shambhala" B&M Mega Coaster

I haven't been on it (went just before construction started) but it's a fairly massive coaster. Dragon Khan was already pretty tall and this is even bigger. Only you'll know if it's too much for you but if you need to ask in the first place, I'd guess the answer would be yes. From what I understand ...

Re: Mutiny Bay: New Family Coaster Concept

if the park got wrid of the log flume and never replaced it with another kind of water ride, i see no problem? the UK's weather is awful. we can't have the amazing water rides that places like Florida offer as your just walking around drenched all day not able to dry off unlike in floridian weather...

Re: Mutiny Bay: New Family Coaster Concept

Alton Towers have a great family coaster in the mine train and arguably a "family coaster with a twist" in thirteen. Seems very strange putting a third one in, especially at the expense of having something approaching a log flume. Perhaps a flying dutchman type ride but not a pure coaster....

Re: Drayton Manor 2012 Season

Screamscape have reported Drayton are planning for two coasters, a wooden coaster and a launched one. Guessing it's for the 2014 season onwards though.

Perhaps getting Knightmare from Camelot? Not sure if moving a wooden coaster saves enough money to be worthwhile over building a new one though.
