Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Never ridden a floorless coaster (unless you cound SLC's of course) what are they like?! Also, anyone find it slightly odd looking back at JW's interviews where he mentions he would never try and go for an inversion record or anything like that as he percieved that as 'boring'?! One then has to won...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

I agree!

Im really looking forward to a more 'psych' based coaster  and something which IS terrifying as well as thrilling.

The question is what are the rides secrets and what does it do that makes it different to all the other coasters in the world?

Re: The Smiler- Mobile Game Application

Re: What did you ride on your first visit?

My first trip was a month or so after Oblivion opened. I was very young (12/13) and didnt really 'do' rides. The only coaster I had ever been on before that day was the grand national at blackpool (incidentally I now LOVE the GN) and I was terrified. I got dragged onto blivvy by my mother (who was m...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Oh boo :( nevermind. It would have been awesome although if our spider looks somewhere near as good as the one on the promotional images I'll be a happy bunny.

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Ive missed three or four days on here so might have missed some bits so what I am about to say may or may not have already been put forward/discussed. So far the general concensus is that the 'spider' is the 'inoculator' that the tweets were referring too. Looking on the promotional images of the ri...

Re: People smoking outside of designated areas.

The thing is (and I am no way trying to defend smokers actions here) a lot of them dont actually realise how offensive the smell/smokey air is to non smokers. I am now (very proudly) an ex smoker and to be honest I am astounded when I walk past people that stink of cigs to think that I ever used to ...

Re: What makes Alton Towers your favourite theme park?

agree with others the whole setting, the towers, the gardens, the wooded areas etc are all the things that makes towers extra special - I sincerely hope that merlin will continue using the natural resources and 'lay of the land' as it were for theming etc and providing guests with a completely immer...

Re: 2014 - 150 Lodge Resort Development

I really really doubt these lodges will be cheaper than the current AT hotels. a)the whole lodge/cabin break is REALLY trendy right now and b) you only have to look at the price of having a lodge for say two nights in the lake district for example - unless you can fill one up to full capacity of peo...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Sam198 - yep been saying this for a while :) even the posters etc in The Sanctuarys waiting room were all done in a similar style. I wonder if the indoor bit will be a bit like room 101 from the book eg themed to force you to face your worst nightmare?? Certainly ties in to the towers promo video wh...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Well assuming the trick track stuff is all true Im guessing we will have some kind of 'film' to watch in the indoor bit too showing disturbing images etc. Most films and stories where people are 'brainwashed' involves the use of making them watch a film (clockwork orange anyone?) and given that on t...
