Re: Galactica - General Discussion

As posted on TowersTimes social media , Alton Towers have updated Galactica's page on their website with a new visual (although it looks to be made from components of the original one) and an updated 'backstory: Blast through an advanced launch portal to a dimension beyond your imagination. Soar, sp...

Re: Alton Towers Resort - General Discussion

Alton Towers have revealed their 2019 TV advert this evening, with the focus being the 'power of the towers':

It does appear that they've adopted a new style when compared to the adverts of recent years, but I quite like the new look.

Re: Alton Towers Stargazing Pods - Opening April 12th 2019

In a surprise turn of events, this article suggests that they will be installing (fake) windows in the roofs of the pods after all: In addition, 'fake windows' are being installed in the ceilings so families can enjoy constellations inspired by the theme park and see them come alive with a special p...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

Would love to know how this thing came to be, if it only got executive sign off 6 months ago! A fairly huge task to ask of the development team, even if they can draw on a lot of experience from within Merlin. Would fit with the rumoured David Walliams attraction/area not working out, by which poin...

Re: Thorpe Park Resort - General Discussion

We seem to have the answer to what the teaser was for: As posted on SouthParks social media , it’s been confirmed that The Luna Cinema will be coming to Thorpe Park during the May Bank Holiday weekend (25th and 26th), with showings of Back to the Future and Bohemian Rhapsody. With doors opening at 7...

TowersTimes News has a full round-up of what we learned, but traitors be wary, for ...

Re: Room on the Broom - A Magical Journey

Just kinda wish they'd either make some of the tasks work without the staff or have proper performers. Kills the atmosphere a bit having an immersive attraction narrated in rhyme and then just having the staff going 'come on guys' It was being operated in manual mode yesterday, which is why a staff...

Disney have today announced the opening dates for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at both Walt Disney World (August 29th) and Disneyland (May 31st). Re: The Swarm

The Swarm was probably the first theme park development I took some interest in following. It’s an all round solid attraction in terms of both ride experience and theming. While usually not the most intense, I did have something of a grey-out when riding it backwards, which I think is the only time ...

Re: Merlin General Discussion

Given that Merlin are reporting notably high growth in the RTP division, which appears to be driven by accommodation, I don’t think the trend of adding new hotels will be changing anytime soon, as it’s delivering desirable results as far as Merlin are concerned. There is a distinction to be made bet...

Re: Alton Towers Stargazing Pods - Opening April 12th 2019

I guess this is about as exciting as developments get with these, but a discharge of conditions application  for the Stargazing Pods has given a bit more insight into the entrance feature. It looks to be an archway which takes inspiration from the roofs of the Enchanted Village's Woodland Lodge's, t...

Re: Heide Park

I did think the photos had been enhanced in some way when first seeing them, although rather than CGI I suspect they may be long-exposure photos which has enabled them to capture the entire fireballs and has been what’s made the smoke/mist coming from the mouth and around the eyes look a bit weird.

Re: Heide Park

As I'm sure many will have seen today, Heide Park have released three photos of the 'giant' theming structure. Obviously they've been framed to show off the broken-track illusion, but it does look as though they've been able to achieve a good effect! https://www.heide-park.de/fileadmin/content/press...

Re: The Alton Towers Dungeon - New for 2019

I would say that the majority of more reasonable-minded people understand the need/reasoning for The Dungeon to be upcharge. However, I think there are frustrations with the fact that this isn’t the sort of attraction the theme park is most in need of at this time, following the removal of several f...
