Re: I'm getting worried about Air

I only rode air a couple of days ago and it didn't seem particularly bumpy, I'd infact say its the smoothest ride at AT. As for the station it's just like oblivion last year and hopefully just like oblivion it will get a bit of a redo, but still I don't think air needs to be worried about at all.

Re: Ride Downtime 2013

Hi all My children and sister were on the back row of the Smiler yesterday when it broke down on the second lift hill.... Now I'm OK with things like this happening but i am not OK with being lied to... I thought my family were in the queue line when the down time occurred so I went through the exi...

Re: Ride Cars

I'm still with air for the sheer engineering in them yet they still manage to look so graceful. Really impressive when you consider what heavy metal they are!

Re: Ride Downtime 2013

Most of the parts are kept in stock on site and if not on site can often be sourced from the likes of Thorpe park or even some competitors! The trouble this time is that it is a part that isn't kept in stock by anybody due to the rarity of it failing. Therefore it's had to be sourced from b&m, t...

Re: Alton Towers Careers - Interviews and Job Advice

And the biggest questionof all kids: Is it fun! (and how does it pay) Well I love my job!! Pay isn't great tbh but the team I have around me and the fun factor makes up for it! As with any job you can have some crap times i.e. break downs and evacuations! But I can truly say its the best job I've e...

Re: Alton Towers Careers - Interviews and Job Advice

I wonder, how long does it take to get promoted from 'Host' to 'Operator'? Once again it's looked at on a single case basis! For me it was when I turned 18, I had been there for 1 and a half seasons already! I have seen people get op after about 3 months in the job, but they do deserve it.  :D

It's 16 to be a host and 18 to be an operator.

Re: Alton Towers Careers - Interviews and Job Advice

A host is baisacally the staff you see on the station, they may check your harnesses on some rides or just guide you around on others. I often find people under estimate the hosts quite a bit, they literally have to know everything about the ride and what to do should things go wrong. There's a lot ...

Re: Alton Towers Careers - Interviews and Job Advice

Start out as a host and work your way up to operator, there's often different levels of hosts though. It all depends what team you are on. Also someone who is an operator on one ride could be a host on another, then certain rides have other positions such as station operators. So all in all there's ...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

Wow park was busy today and very glad we bought scream passes to experience most of fv relatively quickly. We joined the single rider queue for smiler at around 430 today and qued for about an hour and twenty minutes. It's was slow moving!!! One train was obviously new and going round constant with...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I was at Thorpe park today where i found out that AT knew that the Smiler wasn't going to open at the begining of the season back in November. And apparently they knew it wasn't opening on the day the said it would from the media event. I know people will say its not true but i got this information...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I agree with James97 here the car was taken off at the cobra roll! Thankyou, Thankyou. finally someone is thinking about this logically. pulling round the track would take so long. I said to myself I'm going to be Switzerland and not really get involved. Then I thought that would be boring and inst...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Could the train that was added today be the one we saw the first picture of with green screen in the background. That one was all unwrapped and used for the advert so that might be what they were waiting for, the final car to be delivered, Seems possible All trains were already on track. This one t...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

That train has absolutely no packaging on it and has marks on its running wheels suggesting it has already been on, any maintenance will have been done in the ride. This all points to one thing a stall 8) I was half way through editing my post as I had just spotted the wheels had wear in them. But ...

Re: The Smiler - Marketing [May Contain Spoilers]

Sorry if it has been posted already but I have heard on the grapevine that adverts could be starting tomorrow. I will not reveal my source because of working at the park, but I for one really hope they are right.
