Re: Ghosts at alton towers

I've worked on resort for a couple of years now and even though I have never had nothing happen directly to me I know plenty of people who have experienced stuff. Still I find what the weird goings on are not just confined to the towers themselves, a lot of things go bump in the night. One particula...

Re: The Smiler Train Discussion

No one seems to have mentioned yet the "Alton towers resort" in quite a retro font, I love the look of this and also kind of links it back to the past and the sanctuary. Also the tubular framework on the front is reminding me of an old style hospital bed, so could it be themed like a big ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The so called wiring harness would have been installed underground during the groundwork, you can see wires sticking up on some of the aerial photos. It will now be a job of plugging it all in and setting up the computer and operating systems. Its actually a much quicker job than people imagine beca...

Re: Alton Towers - Weather Closures

Do u think if they collected all the snow on the whole of the resort including the car parks to fill the whole length of Oblivion hole? Easily, I think the snow from one car park would fill the hole  when its 2 foot everywhere and more in most places you soon run out of places to put it!...

Re: Alton Towers - Weather Closures

Tbh I think AT should have took some snow pics, I think if people actually knew what it was like we would be seeing half the complaints. The least snow I've seen all day is a foot and when there is drifts over my waste its a shock to the system, that is throughout the resort as I have been around al...

I feel a little sorry for the staff if i'm honest. I presume they are on hourly paid contracts and as such if the parks closed, they don't get paid.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

All staff that could get in have had a full days work shovelling

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Number 6 seems a bit weird, yes the lift hills are probably assembled but why are they in a field 8 miles away??? Surely they'd be kept inside as long as possible, they could even be on site at AT hidden away

I find it weird how the walkway it only down one side of the track, seems really safe for an evacuation.

Air only has a walkway on one side, but then again I bet that's a beast to evac  :?

Re: Ride pin badges

Had a good search today & yesterday on park but didn't see any ATR as that'd be a good one to have. could have sworn I saw a 'ministry of joy' one today as well. I have a moj/smiler one :moj as far as I know these are staff only but they may well have started selling them as smiler merchandise....

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Not sure if this has been posted, but I found this on Facebook, apparently from Merlin Entertainments Germany. http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy29/jordanc14/c16582b14c74c91bc884d5667d692214.jpg Looks to me as if it is fake I certainly know merlins documents over here are much more professional&...

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

It's unbelievable that the smallest of things can stop these effects from all working, I personally think that the water system could have leaks after the winter we have had. AT will not want to replace parts till they can be sure that we will not have any more heavy frosts  :)

Re: X Sector Refurbishment

I thought the pic with the unfinished banked curve was an old one from whilst they were still painting the ride. I agree it does look sloppy with the unfinished underground section, but it does add a nice contrast seeing what colour the ride used to be  :)

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Is it not slightly worrying that they have had to shave the roof of, what happens if the track doesn't align properly, even more delays  :? They have to have extensive testing but it does seem strange, not encouraging for me to ride it. Also probally massively unlikely but it could be a public...
