Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I think this is quite suited for here: A screen shot taken of the Sneak Peak showing almost whole the layout: http://4.media.hyves-static.net/1530765067/6/dtzD/0/img1530765067.jpeg (Staffordshire knot, Inside barrel roll and Second Dive loop are not shown) Meaning we have 14 inversions it shows no ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Here a good shot of how the Inverted drops are going to be: http://1.media.hyves-static.net/1530787920/6/oL_s/0/img1530787920.jpeg So Lift (normal not inverted not even the end) pre-drop into the inverted drop. ;) Other way round buddy ;) Where did you get that idea from? Look at the top of lift on...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I actually can not wait for this to open omg. What is the current inversion record for a roller coaster? Because The Smiler will have 14 inversions (which is shown in the mobile app). If this ride is the roller coaster with the most inversions it can be counted as a world-beating AND worlds first r...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

More track has been erected today, the drop after the vertical lift hill is 100% and it's in place :D http://i46.tinypic.com/154ixvl.jpg Source: Coasterlive Official Facebook page Have to say it: They're half way there looking good now. Now Half the inversions are standing. :D

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

As people are saying the lift hills are inverted, could the 'washing machine' element be right in front of the lift hills?  There could even be two of them, so just before you reach the chain, the train stops in the element, and it starts to spin, and when the car stops upside down, it makes r...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

Yes there is a slight S bend there but if you look in the game sneak peak there is the barrel roll (inversion 14) followed by a turn straight into the brake thats why I wanted to know where you got the idea from. ;) Could be possible that they have that as a secret 15th. :O 15 total = after (not in...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

worryingly still quite a bit of water in bottom, the first drop from station, the straight under the first lift hill and the plazza? Also where do you get on the train and off? you can see the floor being costructed (pict 5) next to the station before the first drop.  it just seems to be in a c...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

It really gets me how many people have noticed that the drop after the vertical lift is a inverted drop in the same shocked way. I mean that fact is like a 100 times mentioned as a inverted drop. But not only that part, there are many other parts which crack my head open because they mention somethi...

Re: The Smiler - Speculation

What's with the weird angled supports near the ground just above the left-hand digger in the above picture? There's one leaning over to the right and another inverted one attached to the vertical support next to that. The builders are probably just setting up supports for some lower down track and ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I did, but clearly you missed the fact that the building gave them a perfect shell to work around. Why they didn't create a box around the toilets and then branch supports off is what I don't get. It's just a mess and I can only see it getting worse when the rest are finished Again they go for the ...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

I think the steel frame work going up over the toilets looks shocking!! It looks messy! I wonder if its actually full needed or if its cosmetic partly! Please tell me that was sarcasm? Course its needed - they wouldn't just waste materials just for cosmetic reasons when it comes to this type of bui...

http://www.towerstimes.co.uk/sw7/wp-content/blogs.dir/3/files/the-smiler-21-02-2013/10.jpg  first support in from the left, second bracket down from the top appears to be past 45 degrees... leading me to believe this is yet another inversion :D I think that is the inversion after the vertica...

So if these drops are inverted are they no longer classed as drops and classed as inversions?

Well Alton Towers calls them inverted drops. So both goes. These drops are two inversions of the 14/15 of the ride. ;)
