Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

I don't know if its an isolated glitch to my computer however, when I click the "Coming Soon" text on the Thorpe Park homepage on the DBGT graphic it is instantly loading the buy tickets tab. This suggests to me that the tab has been linked to a "book now" format but the link has...

Re: NemesisRider's NL 2 creations!

MISSION VERTIGO IS NOW ONLINE http://i64.tinypic.com/adyp77.jpg Welcome to the first NoLimits 2 VR coaster, Mission Vertigo. This wing rider, located on a remote military site, features 6 inversions. This ride's backstory is the portal technology first used on Oblivion: The Black Hole is being used...

Re: SW8

In regards to theming and storyline, I would like to see something based around a Golden Age harbour. I would also like the ride to be historically active so that it feels like you are going back in time and experiencing life in an active busy pirate harbour town. If the ride is based around an old ...

Re: SW8

Just a thought but with the powered/launched lift hill and the relatively short track could the trains make 2 circuits of the track with a different speed of launch on the second circuit to give an out of control/runaway train type of feel. Not sure how this would work with multiple trains but mayb...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

Good to see that the article is overwhelmingly positive and to hear that the illusions mentioned so far seem quite ambitious. Hopefully they will achieve the correct impact. Also, from the sounds of it, there's bigger and better illusions that we won't experience until the moment those gate swing op...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

If there is a problem I hope that Alton Towers close the ride to rectify it for a short period of time, just to be on the completely safe side, and then reopen it when there's no risk of any type of incident. Also I feel it would be in the parks best interest to publish a non-alarming statement in a...

Re: X:\ No Way Out

How long do you guys think X has left of its life before it is replaced and what would you like to see it be replaced with? It is clear that Thorpe Park are trying to develop the whole resort quite extensively. The new permanent hotel is a huge step forward at consolidating Thorpe Park as a legitim...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

That could not look more impressive. I have no doubt that this ride has the best looking show building centre piece of any ride in the UK. The sheer size of the train and the amount of lights and mirrors used is absolutely incredible.

Re: SW8

So does this suggest a large train in width, along the same lines as a winged train? Not necessarily. Nemesis94 on TowersStreet has also produced a potential layout using a wooden coaster, with this plan view showing that it fits almost perfectly between the clearance lines. https://c2.staticflickr...

Re: SW8

Looking at the plans and seeing as its a screening option to outline the environmental impact does anyone else think it's a clearance area? Showing how much space is needed for the car on the track? As pointed out previously: there is only the central line going into the station which says to me th...

Re: SW8

With my limited understanding of plans, it looks to be either a roller coaster that repeats its route in close proximity to itself for most of the experience/ a racer, or some kind of large tracked water ride with a main drop, as opposed to a flume because of the presence of brakes. I am pleased at ...

These have appeared in the Ghost Train covered queue - http://i.imgur.com/DRLeEnJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FrmQV1x.jpg Images from cianjs on TPM. Re: SW8

I am more confident with SW8's current site as opposed to the previous plan of situating the new ride in Forbidden Valley. The flume was in need of replacement and Mutiny Bay is arguably not the most popular or developed area of the park so it makes sense to install a major ride on that site. I also...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

The trains do look very impressive and realistic so we can safely say that Thorpe Park have achieved their goal of thematic immersion here, even without knowledge of the ride experience itself. It is strange that the train carriage looks different to the one shown in the concept imagery( featuring V...

The Towers Times Creation Platform

I believe that there are many creative people on this forum with plenty of ideas to share. I know from personal experience that it can be frustrating when you have created something but don't have the platform to showcase or develop it in, I therefore present the Towers Times Creation Platform. In t...

Re: SW8

Whenever this new attraction is supposed to open it is unlikely we will see much marketing or many details about the ride just yet. Alton Towers are likely still very worried about the media putting a negative spin on new attractions. I realise that Galactica was advertised freely however, that was ...

Re: Derren Brown's Ghost Train - New for 2016

This attraction seems to be reflecting a themed experience which is something we've wanted to see at Thorpe Park for a long time. From viewing pictures, the shop, queue and the attraction itself appear to form a nice unit of theming and I look forward to actually trying out the ride myself.

Re: If you owned the Alton Towers Resort, what would you do

I am just going to write about some things that I want to happen but also things I also see likely considering Merlin's new approach to running the park. The years following 2016 would all be leading up to an absolute breakthrough in Alton Towers' status in 2020 for their 40th anniversary. 2016: Cur...

Re: Alton Towers - General Discussion

That music does give such an impression of magic and I expect it will really emphasise the excitement of entering the park. I honestly think that with all the TLC and promises of future investments, that Alton Towers really has a long term plan to literally transform the park. I realise at the momen...
